s Arizona natives who grew up in Scottsdale, we evaluated all of the private communities in the area and felt that Desert Highlands had the best mix of amenities, ambiance and location. After moving here we instantly felt a real sense of community where people truly care about each other. That has not changed in the 15 years we have lived here and our seven-year-old daughter feels right at home too.

In terms of amenities, there is something for everyone. The centerpiece is the beautiful Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course, which has multiple tees at each hole that make it as easy or as challenging as you want. There’s also one of the country’s best tennis centers—with 13 courts and three different playing surfaces—a fitness center that looks out over the Valley, wine clubs, card games and even an 18-hole putting course. We enjoy taking our dog for strolls along the walking paths throughout the community or having a

casual barbecue at the tennis center while our daughter takes a lesson. All of the facilities are kept in pristine condition and the professional staff always greets you with a smile and knows your name.

There is also a strong willingness to change with the times. Last October a major renovation of the clubhouse was completed to address the desire of residents for a more casual, indoor-outdoor setting.
