Curio Archives: Dime Magazine | Issue 2

Whilst working on the Cupertino Alliance Factbook, I recently rediscovered multiple projects that weren’t published or shelved. Dime. Issue 2 was the cancelled second issue of the Dime Magazine. It was a collaboration between Jayden Lycon and Zed Smith, but was later cancelled to focus on other projects. I do want to restart the dime. magazine but most possibly on a later date since I plan to take a smaller role in micronationalism during the next few months. Certain elements of “The treaty” interview was omitted due to security issues amidst ongoing political events in later months. Fun fact: the cover art was taken in front of a garbage bin in downtown Toronto. Health concerns go brrrr!

The treaty A film review

No. NAME

The raid on 26

The raid on 26

24 January. (yeah I know it is called the raid of 26 but most of the stuff happens on the 26 and it sounds better)

Revision 540655. Seems like another vandal appears into the wonderful world of MicroWiki. The MicroWiki addict named Zarel Smith, who also writes for the DIME, reports this following edit to Cameron I. [11:57 PM ET] Smith, Zarel: @Cameron Vandalism [11:58 PM ET] Smith, Zarel: (I do not want to ping the whole admin team) [11:58 PM ET] Cameron I: AAA [11:58 PM ET] Cameron I: Ok This is common occurrence in MicroWiki, vandals who most likely troll and delete the whole page or add some inappropriate text; little do they know this is not a simple attack. It would be a well more planned out and take the efforts of many, many people. That b

Will be important. The next few hours will be other wiki users reporting the vandalism.

Midnight passes.

A new patroller

26 January. The next few hours will be other wiki users reporting the vandalism. Pages that were attacked were the Union of Nova-Occitania, Republic of Aswington, and more. That being said, revision 540655 is may not be apart of redacted user’s edit log since it was deleted. Tomáš Falešník listed 2 users, “adminsucks” and “XXX” as vandals. Their edits include blanking the page and statements including:

“ADMIN WHY YOU BAN ME (Emperor Anathan) CUTLAVANIA IS MY PAGE YOU IDIOT I USE VPN, SO I CAN CHANCE MY IP ANYTIME, WHEN YOU BAN ME, I STILL CAN MAKE ACCOUNT YOU IDIOT ADMINNNNNN OWNER BAN THIS ADMIN (Emperor Adam I)” -User:Adminsucks on User:EmperorAdamI’s userpage Emperor Adam I, a fellow guest on the DIME, and person attacked by User:Adminsucks, commented on how none of the vandals were targeting Wegmat, a nation known in the MicroWiki sector. Though Cole, the leader of Wegmat, defended himself stating that he also got targeted too.

A new patroller It could also be Trace Fleeman. One of their attacks mentioned Fleeman, an infamous MicroWiki-er known for the “GANGSTA REPUBLIC” and his trolling on MicroWiki. Adam also noted that they clearly know about Mahuset’s dislike for the Grand Unified Micronational.

Nikola Jovanovic stated that the vanadalism on MicroWiki matches the time of vandalism and username on MicrasWiki

A new patroller By Jayden Lycon

Following the events of the previous story, Tomáš Falešník, known for his previous roles in the Gymnasium State, contributed in the “reconstruction” of MicroWiki, by reporting accounts to the administrators and rolling back vandal edits. His contributions got him the promotion of the patroller role. On 27 January, I had the chance to talk with him.

A new patroller Who would you like to thank? Well, I would like to thank Luxor for giving me the rank and Discord user [redacted] whose vandalism led to the promotion, but I already thanked both of these.

When you first started editing on MicroWiki on 29 December 2017, did you think you could achieve the patroller rank? I definitely didn't - after all, the rank didn't even exist yet. But I never thought I would get any rank on the site, I assumed I would be just another guy editing the MicroWiki that not many would even notice.

What's the dumbest article you edited? What is the most interesting? Proudest edit? Why are these questions so hard, when they shouldn't be. I'm tempted to go and edit Shinee Shining Lightning to have the first answer, but of the articles I already edited I'd say my userpage is the dumbest. I'd love to say Gymnasium State's pages were the most interesting, but I won't do that. In fact, every article I edited was interesting in its way. The proudest edit is probably any edit that led other people to use it as a template.

What do you do alongside editing? (e.g. Eating, listening to music, etc.) Pretty much anything, to be honest. Usually I listen to music, sometimes I get something to eat too. But it's probably chatting on Discord on my phone I do alongside editing the most. Oh, and sometimes I actually edit MicroWiki alongside editing MicroWiki, though not that often.

What is your favorite types of articles to edit? (e.g. Lists, articles about government, articles about elections, etc.) I don't really have a favorite type of articles, though any which are well-written could be seen as my favorite. But those don't really need editing, do they?

What did you learn when editing in MicroWiki? How did it change your micronation? I suppose it's mostly my English which is improving the most during my edits, but I also learned how the other people approached micronationalism, which is always interesting. Though I don't really think it led to much changes within the Gymnasium State, at least there weren't much until today. I'm always looking for inspiration…

An interview with Russell Gilzem …for the future.

About how much time on average do you spend editing for MicroWiki and / or Czech MicroWiki? My usual editing routine consists of around ten minutes of reading the recent changes, approximately fifteen minutes of edits preparations or actual editing, and then accidentaly leaving my computer with MicroWiki on for few hours... I don't actually spend that much time by editing, which would also explain why I'm the only patroller with less than 2000 edits.

Why do you continue to edit for MicroWiki? Was there ever a point when you just sat back and asked yourself why you were putting this much time and effort in? It's usually to keep the information about our micronation as up to date as possible, but that becomes a worthless excuse when you visit the Czech page, not updated for at least a month. But that just shows I'm nowhere near being done, and that applies for the English wiki too. And of course there were these points in my past, but I never got sufficients answer for the why I should stop.

Aside from the normal patroller duties, what else do you plan to do as a patroller? How do you think MicroWiki can be improved upon? Contribute as a normal user, of course! But I'm going to start fixing other people's articles if necessary more, I never was that much active in that part. Honestly, I don't have any other plans, few days ago I had no idea I'll actually become the patroller.

What is your definition of a "good article" in MicroWiki? Thanks for the reminder, I always forget to vote on good articles. What does according to me make one? Well, it should be well-written; simple, yet explaining, and of course gramatically correct. The formatting should be good as well, nice-looking infoboxes or tables always make pages nice on the graphical part. Same with images. No red links should be in the article, and if the article doesn't exist and deserve being on MicroWiki, link to it's unmicronational spinoff of Wikipedia can be placed on said spot. But I know how tiring that can be. References are also always nice, but I don't think they are always required - it's usually the person from said micronation editing the page, and he knows the best about it.

An interview with Russell Gilzem What advice do you give to new MicroWiki users? Don't stop! And get in touch with the rest of the community - they're friendly, helpful, and plenty more good adjectives can be said about them, but I can't think of any more at the moment. If you keep on editing, you might someday end up like me. That wasn't a threat by the way.

Do you plan to apply for a rank like patroller in the Czech MicroWiki? If so, and get accepted, what do you plan to do there aside from the normal patroller / rank duties? Actually, the account I use for English MicroWiki already has the rank on the Czech MicroWiki too, at least from what I saw. But I use different account for the Czech MicroWiki. That's because I didn't notice I was making the accounts on the same website until months later. But similarly to the English patroller rank - itwon't change my regular MicroWiki life that much.

What do you plan to do in the future? Do you plan to run for political office in Czechia or any other state when you are older? Did your time in micronations help contribute to the end goal? Do you think your time in micronations was worth it? I am honestly surprised how many people are still interested in the Gymnasium State, so we plan to keep it going as long as possible, though there will probably be some problems when we'll start attending colleges (if we start attending colleges, that is). And if it fails, I already have some sort of backup, you won't get rid of me that easily. For the non-micronational life, I might eventually try to get involved in Czech politics, and if I do, the time I spent on both running a micronation by myself (or with a group of friends, to be exact) and talking with others will certainly pay off.

The treaty By Jayden Lycon

Saying that any word could describe this masterpiece is an insult to this film. The treaty is a 2020 film showcasing an historical event; the film is very historically accurate. It has a powerful message, one that can be understood in any culture, religion and even language. The acting and voice acting is absolutely amazing: and animation? Best I have ever seen, it makes Pixar look like dog sh*t. The treaty has risen above humanity, in a way which I can not describe in simple mortal words. Comparing any film, Star Wars, Citizen Kane or the Godfather, to this film, would be an utter insult. The film tells a tale - a tale that will live on, fifty years from now, one-hundred years from now, even until the heat death of the universe, will this film be echoing around the universe, forever remembered in time, leaving an undeniable influence on the human race. A tail in which, Person B, misunderstood, clearly a lost soul, is better than everyone, but only he can see it. Person B is misunderstood, and shockingly refused entry into the holy micronation. When the supposedly "democratic" vote in Congress starts, it shows the true flaws of democracy in modern society, and how each system is at least somewhat undemocratic: what is fairest and prioritizing consistency and simplicity, cautioning against complicated yet fair reforms. When Person B is refused, I almost had a heart attack because of the crazy plot twist. I had the biggest sigh of relief and amazement when one of the faceless voters changed his vote to 'yes’. The second vote, allowing them to take his territory, was an undemocratic secret plot showcasing the true reality of the corruption involved in modern politics, plaguing our society, our civilization as we know it — than the savior "the treaty" is proposed. This treaty, solves all of the world's problems, it cured world hunger, global warming, illness, sicknesses and plagues. "The End" is confidently said by Person B, knowing the sacrifices he had to do to get his independence and save the world.
