The party that forms a government sets up an Executive which consists of Ministers who run the different government departments, such as health, education, trade and industry. The leader of the government is the Prime Minister and the Ministers meet as a Cabinet. All elected Members of Parliament debate matters and form the Legislature, the law making body of the land. Head of State Democracies may have a monarch as Head of State such as the Queen of England who has no real power and authority but represents the nation abroad and is involved with ceremonial duties and she makes sure the constitution is followed. If the Head of State is a president, as in the United States, the democracy is then known as a Republic.

Draw up a constitution for a newly formed group set up to improve the environment of the school and its grounds. Decide who can join the group, what the roles of officials will be and how these people will be elected. Decide how funding will be acquired and what projects will be undertaken. Decide other rules of the group and how disagreements will be settled.

Lesotho is an example of a constitutional monarchy the main features of which are as following. 1. The Head of State is the King whose succession is approved by the College of Chiefs. His role is largely ceremonial.
