OUR JOURNEY WITH CHRIST

When are we going to get back to in-person worship? That’s the question that keeps coming up in conversation after conversation. I don’t know if the virus is ready to back down but it certainly feels like we are ready to step into some taste of normalcy here at Carmel UMC. So let me give you where we are right now.

Step one is putting together a reopening and scheduling task force which will look at the protocols we have in place; what the county, city, and state public health guidance recommends; what is needed to keep our most vulnerable members and guests safe; and how we can most quickly transition into live worship, small groups, and congregational life in our facility. Step two is setting an accountability timeline which will push us to get moving on rhis -to hold our tendency to study

things to death ‘toes’ to the fire. In this case, I am proposing Palm Sunday and Easter as live, in person worship with a preference for at least a first attempt one Sunday earlier (March 21). But remember, this includes a lot more than just musicians and preachers. We are talking about childcare at least, and new ways to do Sunday School at most.
