RESIN PAVEMENT Soil Stabilization Products Company, Inc. (SSPCo) sets the standard for innovation with natural pavement, base reinforcement and soil stabilization product technology. In response to the demand for more natural pavement materials, SSPCo took the leading role for the past fifteen years in the nationwide introduction and advancement of alternative pavement technology. SSPCo’s continuing advances in product technology have given project owners and designers an asthetic alternative to asphalt and concrete pavements for paved pathways, trails, driveways, parking lots, fire access lanes, streets and secondary roads. NATURAL COLORATION NaturalPAVE® XL Resin PavementTM can be constructed in a wide variety of natural colors, depending upon the coloration and availability of local aggregate materials of suitable quality and gradation characteristics. NaturalPAVE XL Resin Pavement surfaces retain the natural coloration and texture of the constituent aggregate material.
CONSTRUCTION NaturalPAVE XL Resin Pavement mixtures are cold applied, but installed like hot mix asphalt pavement mixtures. Paving machines are typically used for placement, and asphalt rollers for compaction. Similar to hot mix asphalt, NaturalPAVE XL mixtures are classified as “flexible pavement” materials.
With the availability of NaturalPAVE XL Resin Pavement, designers now have the option to specify pavement materials that are complementary to the colors of the built structures, or to the natural color of the native soil and rock materials at the project site. COOL PAVEMENT In the summertime, black asphalt pavement temperatures can be hotter by as much as 40ºF or more than the surrounding area. NaturalPAVE XL Resin Pavement installations are far cooler and create a more liveable environment for commercial and residential areas. Designers can now specify these markedly reflective (high albedo) pavement surfaces to reduce “Heat Island” problems, as encouraged Farmers’ Market Area by the LEEDTM rating systems of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

ACCESSIBLE PAVEMENT NaturalPAVE XL Resin Pavement is an appropriate allweather pavement for handicap accessible applications where smooth joint-free running surfaces similar to asphalt pavement are desired, but with more appropriate natural aesthetics. The US Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board (the Access Board) is responsible for setting standards for wheelchair accessibility. A portable testing device, known as a Rotational Penetrometer, was developed as the basis of a general measurement system. Results of Rotational Penetrometer testing have been conducted on installations of NaturalPAVE XL Resin Pavement and hot mix asphalt pavement. Both the asphalt and NaturalPAVE XL Resin Pavement surfaces provided very firm and very stable accessible surfaces in all weather conditions. In both dry and wet testing the NaturalPAVE XL Resin Pavement surface performed slightly better than the asphalt pavement surface in Firmness and Stability.
GREEN BUILDING The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is actively promoting the use of more sustainable and environmentally friendly materials. NaturalPAVE XL Resin Pavement is an environmentally friendly and attractive alternative to toxic, highly heat absorbent asphalt pavement materials. Many buildings are now being constructed according to green building standards and the pavements surrounding these structures are an important component in the green building package.
