Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Disaster
Revolution On Fukushima Nuclear
Date: 2019
Location: Fukushima, JP
Type: Individual Work
Japan’s government decided to start releasing massive amounts of treated radioactive water from the wrecked Fukushima nuclear plant into the Pacific Ocean in two years — an option fiercely opposed by local fishermen and residents. The decision, long speculated but delayed for years due to safety concerns and protests, came at a meeting of Cabinet ministers who endorsed the ocean release as the best option. The accumulating water has been stored in tanks at the Fukushima Daiichi plant since 2011, when a massive earthquake and tsunami damaged its reactors and their cooling water became contaminated and began leaking. Due to the nuclear crisis, wastewater caused pollution of the ocean, land, and groundwater, and it gradually led to the land no longer suitable for living. As a result, it triggered serious social turmoil and the fishing industry suffered when the leakage of radioactive water killed many fish. Therefore, imports and exports were significantly reduced which may leed to a surge in domestic unemployment and a series of social problems and dissatisfaction. Lack of trust compromises the willingness of citizens and business to respond to public policies and contribute to a sustainable economic recovery.
A CENTRALIZED SOCIETY
In this new industrial city of Karesansui, Zen temple was built under control of the elite. In the face of the significant life changes caused by radiation, people may gain inner strength and calmness through meditation (Everyone behaves impulsively sometimes. Most of the time people would work to limit those behaviors on their own and expresse fear of pain and desire for pleasure, but the dry landscape of Zen may help people on manipulating impulsivity, and finally reaching a state of no-self, this concept is self-explanatory in the design of Japanese Zen temples and constitutes the current cultural and ideological basis).
It can be said that Kamon is an example of Japan's own culture, which has been in use up to the present day.
A Kamon was created to serve as a unique emblem that represented a family's identity, clearly revealing the family name of its owner. The family crest in the new centralized society was used to distinguish islands with various functionality, and it demonstrated centralized power.

Education as necessity - a case study through the lens of rural India
Date: 2021
Location: Kalasar, Rajasthan, India
Type: Individual Work
The project is focused on helping the people in rural Indian construct a sense of themselves as equal persons worthy of being respected by themselves and their communities. It enables them to look critically at the reality of their lives, understand underlying social and political structures, and learn ways of challenging inherent discrimination. It helps them build a capacity to aspire, to take charge of their lives, and to flourish. The library fights to keep them in and to make sure they stay and learn to read, write, and most importantly: recognize themselves as equal persons with a right to determine the course of their own lives.
Access to education - a necessity
The world has come to a standstill during this pandemic, forcing people to lay back at home and rely on digital interfaces to fulfill their daily needs. For the ones that depended on public libraries and schools to access education, transferring online has been a struggle. Children are made to depend on digital classroom methods and some of them belonging to the lower-income class, do not have access to the Internet or even a basic cell phone network. The lack of resources is a major issue that is propelled by the loss of jobs and income owing to the pandemic. Education is often considered a luxury for people for the underprivileged, and the pandemic adds even more weight to these limitations.
Rural India Likely To Be Hit by
Primary and upper-primary schools in India have been closed for 17 month to curb the spread of coronavirus
The replacement of physical classes, test or assignments with virtual classes
Online education is not an option for all as only one in four children has access to digital devises and internet connectivity. Pre-COVID, only a quarter of households (24 per cent) in India had access to the internet and there is a large rural-urban and gender divide.
Substantial Increase in ON-SCREEN time Girls’ education faces a sense of urgency
The Indian children who have forgotten how to read and write
Non-profits have sponsored open-air classes in some places to bring children back
Children are made to depend on digital classroom methods and some of them belonging to the lower-income class, do not have access to the Internet or even a basic cell phone network
Rural health infrastructure has always been in a shambles
The living conditions and facilities available in urban areas are far superior to those in rural India. This is especially the case with education. Children in rural India do not have access to quality education and often, do not have access to education.
The ladder of success is best climbed by stepping on the rungs of oppotunity.

The Shadows Of Mental Health In Hongkong
Date: 2020
Location: Hong Kong, CN Type: Individual Work
A mental health tsunami in Hong Kong - Depression is a common mental disorder and one of the main causes of disability Hongkong. Shortage of preventive materials, negative perceptions, financial loss, and unemployment were prevalent during the outbreak and found in association with higher stress and more anxiety and depressive symptoms. Further actions are warranted to relieve stress and promote mental health, this project is aimed to offer a enlightened life style and invite a spiritual awakening to transform their life.
The Implications of COVID-19 for Social Anxiety in Hong Kong
In Hong Kong and globally, mental health remains largely misunderstood and not equated (in both prevention and treatment) to physical illness. An estimated 1 in 7 people in Hong Kong will experience a common mental disorder at any given time. Of those experiencing a mental health disorder, threequarters will not seek professional help. Many will continue to suffer in isolation as a result of stigma, feelings of shame, lack of awareness about their condition, and a shortage of accessible professional support. Further statistics show that many environmental, personal and social stressors also contribute to mental health problems. Poor mental health can arise from many common environmental, social and personal stressors, including stressful life events, lack of regular exercise, alcohol and substance misuse, financial difficulties, living in public housing and chronic illness. 61% of Hong Kong adults currently suffer from poor mental well-being, with 1 in every 7 people developing a common mental disorder in their lifetime. The number of psychiatric patients has doubled from 2004 to 2014. 74% of mental health sufferers do not seek any form of professional help. Anxiety and depressive disorders are the most common health issues in Hong Kong.

The Fragmented
Lost names in Kamloops
Location: Kamploops, BC, CA
Type: Individual Work
The project attempts to produce an "iconic" work: a striking monument that attracts passersby. For some, monument is a painful reminder of the past, and sometimes it irreversibly pock-marks the skyline. What follows is a collection of attention grabbing structures. It will be people’s choice whether it would be remembered as eccentric landmarks or glaring eyesores. The monument is located on Secwepemc in Kamloops, BC Canada. It is a fitting location together with the former site of Indian residential school and Secwepemc Museum and Heritage Park which tied to the history of the first nations community. The location creates a series of semi public outdoor spaces while the spaces each have their own purpose and can function independently, they are also connected and create a coherent whole through design, and the selection of materials.
