Las Vegas once again became the crucible of automotive invention as the 2024 SEMA Show roared into action last November.
From electrified restorations and hydrogen classics to rugged EV vans and winches that double as light towers, there was no shortage of ingenuity
For Canadians hauling loads through ice roads, winding mountain passes, or the oil patch, this year ’s show offered a glimpse into the next generation of gear and yes, a spark of Canadian pride too.
Tools, Tech & Tough Gear
ROADTEK’s GarageMax
3T Electric Floor Jack proved indispensable for anyone changing out heavy components like differentials or engine assemblies one button, massive lift, no sweat.
Warn’s ZEON XP 14-S winch raised the bar for recovery gear, combining wired or wireless control, LEDs, and an electric/manual clutch handy when the jobsite is dark and the stakes are high.
ARB’s new brushless air compressors delivered 50 % more airflow and extended lifespan—perfect for keeping air lockers and tools humming during Canada’s frigid winters
____________
Adventure-Ready with a Canadian Twist
Electric vehicles don’t only belong on paved roads. Kia’s EV9 ADVNTR and WKNDR van concepts were built for backcountry work—and built to stay there.
The ADVNTR commands rough terrain with raised suspension and armor. The WKNDR van?
Think solar panels, a mobile pantry, even hydro-turbine wheel-charging ideal for extended off-grid deployments.
M e a n w h i l e , N i s s a n Canada brought a distinctly Canadian flavor to SEMA: four project builds based on Frontier and Kicks models, showcasing how Nissan vehicles can be customized for real-world use out here rugged, ready, and tailored for northern workhorses. canada.nissannews.com

Show-Stealing Builds
SEMA wouldn’t be SEMA without dazzling concept vehicles.
Toyota’s “Ultimate Tailgate Tundra” turned the loading box into a tailgate entertainment studio five 55-inch screens, JBL marine audio, and satellite Wi-Fi included.
Mopar ’s 1967 Plymouth GTX Electromod married classic muscle with silent, instant electric torque via their e-Crate EV conversion.
CRC Industries’ 1957 Chevy Bel Air, now powered by hydrogen, pointed to a greener future for classic trucks—not just fantasy but a potential reality for heritage Canadian rigs.
Toyota also presented 12 unique builds, including the Tacoma TRD ProRunner Race Concept and the rally-inspired GR86 Legacy projects begging for Canadian trails to test them on.
Products to Watch in 2025
• Kuat DEK Roof Rack with integrated 10,000-lumen lighting arrival Q2 2025.
• Cache Basecamp Pad 3.0—lockable tailgate pad with optional seats and cooler, ideal for worksite breaks—spring 2025.
• Ridetech F-Body Subframe modern suspension for classic Camaros and Firebirds, hitting early 2025
• ARB Compressors durable, high-output and priced from $469 to $1,289 depending on setup available early 2025.
Why SEMA 2024 Matters to Canadian Truckers
From B C ’s logging roads to Quebec’s remote supply lines and Manitoba’s frozen backcountry, Canadian truckers need gear
that’s tough, reliable, and ready for harsh conditions. What set SEMA 2024 apart was how many products deliver on those expectations:
• Winches and racks doubling as lighting systems.
• Compressors designed for cold-proof longevity.
• EVs built for hauling—and remote camp-like features.
• Alternative-fuel restomods hinting at a greener path for fleet and work vehicles.
Plus, seeing Canadian creativity front and center especially Nissan’s customized builds showed our industry isn’t just following trends; we’re shaping them.canada.nissannews.com
Final Word
SEMA 2024 was a reminder: innovation isn’t just about speed it s about adaptability, sustainability, and building gear that Whether it s a hydrogen Bel Air or a solar-paneled this show proved that the future of trucking is gutted with smarts, and yes, a touch ofdian grit.
SEMA 2025 Rob, Sean & Dave will be bringing you Live Videos and materials for the next SEMA magazine with something for everyone.

January of 2022 a lawsuit was filed by the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) on behalf of the Honourable Brian Peckford, the last surviving signatory of our Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and others, with a goal of striking down the vaccine mandates for travel.
In October of 2022 the federal courts struck this case based on mootness, stating that the use of judicial resources for a five-day hearing, when the travel mandate had now been lifted, outweighed the public interest in having the case heard on the merits. This completely ignored the threat of mandates being reinstated at the government’s discretion, and disregarded the significant public interest in knowing that our Charter is being upheld by our courts.
Even the chief medical officer expressed that travel mandates were unlikely to be effective, noting that the WHO also advised against them Obviously, the Trudeau government was not following science but a political agenda, seeking to make an example of all who opposed. They ignored Charter rights and failed to provide proof that mandates had a positive effect on transmission (because the evidence did not exist)
The JCCF have filed an appeal to the dismissal of their case and are currently waiting for a date to have their appeal heard.
The appeal highlights the judge’s error in failing to use the threepart legal test they are to apply when considering exercising discretion toward hearing a case:
The existence of a truly adversarial context
The presence of particular circumstances which justify the expenditure of limited judicial resources to resolve moot cases
Respect shown by the courts to limit themselves to their proper adjudicative role as opposed to making free-standing, legislative type pronouncements.
On behalf of all Canadians, we applaud their tenacity and hope the courts will finally acknowledge the Charter and further acknowledge that the processes in place to supersede these rights have never been demonstrated in the eyes of the law.
We have seen some support for our Charter in recent cases, hopefully this is a sign of the return of our free Canada.

(NOTL) Border Integrity (BI) Team, are committed to safeguarding our country and keeping contraband goods, such as narcotics, from reaching our communities.
A commercial truck driven by a Quebec resident entered Canada in Fort Erie, Ontario, and was referred for a secondary examination The CBSA discovered and seized approximately 112 5 kg of suspected cocaine inside five duffle bags The value of this seizure is estimated at $14 million
The CBSA arrested Pardeep Singh, and transferred him and the suspected cocaine under the custody of RCMP officers from NOTL BI unit.
The RCMP have charged 24year-old Singh of LaSalle, Quebec with: Importation of a controlled substance, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Note from Dave!
If you see suspicious activity, persons asking you for a ride across the border in your vehicle, a loose lipped driver talking about smuggling loads of weapons or drugs, do us all a big favour and contact authorities. Try to get as much information as possible without becoming involved and shut these bad guys down. They are bad for our business.
“The Border Integrity Program is responsible for protecting our border by preventing, detecting, and disrupting cross border criminality.
Securing the border contributes to the national security of Canada and protects Canadians from terrorism, organized crime and other border-related criminality This large drug seizure and the investigation that ensued resulting in an individual being charged, is another example of the RCMP and the CBSA working together to protect our communities by preventing illegal drugs from reaching our streets.”

Rescue dogs and lost pets who need a ride home have a Awesome Group of allies in Canada, TRUCKERS.
A group based in Thunder Bay, Ont., will help coordinate rides for animals who are heading from one part of the country to another.
Furry Hobos and Hiway Heroes is the creation of Margaret Foster. A former truck driver, she took it upon herself to help coordinate rides for those with four legs.
"It actually gives them something they feel good about. I mean, you go up and down the road here, you see the accidents and everything else that happens," said Foster
She said nearly 300 dogs have been transported through the group to their new homes, anywhere in Canada. She said some trucks in the United States are also now part of her 'network', allowing
for international movement of the animals in need.
Foster said drivers are not compensated, but she asks for a donation of home baking, or a gift card for coffee
Help from the community
Foster said many of the drivers have their own animals in their trucks, that they refer to as 'An Ambassador.'
As for continuing to help ferry rescue animals, or those who are lost and found to their proper homes, Foster said most drivers can't get enough of it
"[One driver], he gets a hold of me all the time and says, 'Margaret, I'm getting tired of laughing at my own jokes, you'd better give me a dog.'"

The Nzymes Treats and Sprouted Granules are our most popular items, and for good reason. Every body needs Enzymes, and that especially applies to pets. Because of heat and processing, so much of what is available for them as food is completely void of enzymes. This enzyme-empty scenario leads to deficiencies that often show up in the joints, skin, coat, digestion, energy levels, neurological function and general health. It is truly amazing to see how the addition of a simple supplement can make such a difference in these areas.
