A letter from the Director of Athletics Greetings from #Otterritory! It’s an honor and privilege to serve our student-athletes and coaches at Cal State Monterey Bay. The past year has been challenging for all of us in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and especially so for our student-athletes. Their identities as athletes have been in question and on hold as we shifted to virtual instruction, prioritizing the health and safety of our campus and surrounding communities.

Despite this 12+ month set back, our coaches and student-athletes continue to demonstrate a strong culture of resilience in the face of tremendous adversity. Our student-athletes have remained enrolled, engaged and on track toward their degrees.

They earned a GPA of 3.36 taking exclusively online classwork this past fall.

Now is the time to come back together and position ourselves for success as we all look forward to our return to play in 2021. Our vision, mission and goals remain the same.

Our mission is to serve, challenge and support each other in pursuit of studentathlete success. We will empower our student-athletes to earn a degree, train, compete for championships and develop as responsible leaders.

Our vision is to be a premier athletics department in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), consistently competing for conference championships and qualifying for NCAA Division II postseason competition.

Topping the list of strategic initiatives for Otter Athletics is to raise the sustainable resources necessary for comprehensive success across all of our sports programs.

A critical element to a sustainable funding model is a thriving annual fund built on the support of our extended athletics family of alumni, parents, local community members and business partners.

By joining the Otter Athletics Fund, you will directly impact our student-athletes’ opportunity for success through scholarship and sport-specific program support (travel, equipment, training and technology). Your gift will help us to achieve and sustain a level of success that makes our university and surrounding communities proud.

Otter Athletics Fund What is the Otter Athletics Fund?

The Otter Athletics Fund is the official annual fund for the California State University, Monterey Bay Athletics Department. The funds raised by joining the Otter Athletics Fund will continue to support the academic and athletic experiences of current and future CSUMB student-athletes.

What does the Otter Athletics Fund support?

All gifts to the Otter Athletics Fund will directly impact current student-athletes in the form of scholarships and sport-specific program enhancements such as travel, equipment, training and technology.

Your gift to the Otter Athletics Fund is tax-deductible as regulated by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The Otter Athletics Fund operates under the Foundation of CSUMB, and you will receive a gift receipt that directly reflects your investment.
