Welcome to the spring 2026 events season at Cal State Fullerton’s College of the Arts. We have been hard at work in every classroom, practice room, and studio across campus preparing to share new sounds and bold creativity with all of you. We are thrilled you are here.
Our students and their success form the core of our purpose in the College of the Arts but unlike their counterparts in other colleges, their paths are not solely formed through classroom learning; they are revealed in the moments when talent meets opportunity. Like when a dancer attends an intensive, or when a musician travels abroad on tour, or an actor or artist is mentored – this is where promise is transformed into possibility. The Dean’s Fund for Excellence gives students access to meaningful experiences like these and many more, including masterclasses, research opportunities, materials, and professional conferences. You can help ensure creativity isn’t limited by circumstance. Consider a gift of any amount to the Dean’s Fund for Excellence today.
This spring semester is brimming with performances and exhibitions for all to enjoy –some that will make you laugh and others that will make you think. In the School of Music, Sibarg Ensemble, featuring our own Hessam Abedini, explores the musical intersections of Iranian music and jazz on February 20. In April, Benjamin Britten’s comic opera “Albert Herring” follows the shy, virtuous title character as he rebels against his prudish upbringing. Join us in the Little Theatre beginning March 5 for the musical “Once Upon a Mattress” – an uproarious sendup of Hans Christian Anderson’s fairytale, “The Princess and the Pea.” If you’re craving something completely different, Eugène Ionesco’s “Rhinoceros” opens March 19 to hold a mirror to the absurdity of mob mentality and the struggle to maintain individuality in the face of mass hysteria. And in late spring, our dancers and choreographers return to demonstrate their inimitable power and grace in “Spring Dance Theatre.”
Across the walkway from where you’re seated are the College of the Arts Galleries. You can still catch exhibitions from Soo Kim and Carol Caroompas until May, or stop by the galleries on Wednesdays for our bi-weekly Student Galleries opening receptions. They are always full of energy, and you might even find student artwork to purchase and take home!
Whether you’re returning to our venues or here for the first time, we are so excited to present another season to you. Thank you for joining us.
Sincerely,
Arnold Holland, EdD Dean, College of the Arts

Kenneth Tse is widely recognized as one of the world’s leading classical saxophonists, achieving international fame in 1996 after winning the New York International Artists Competition and The Alex Award from the National Alliance for Excellence. Those awards led to highly acclaimed performances at Carnegie Hall, and he has since performed as a soloist on five continents. With over forty works dedicated to him, and 23 CDs to his name, he has become a leading recording artist and inspiration in the genre.
Tse has performed with renowned orchestras and concert bands in France, Hong Kong, Thailand, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland, Italy, China, and the US. He has also shared his pedagogical expertise at prestigious institutions including the Paris Conservatory, the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, the Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw, and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in Australia. Moreover, he has been invited to judge at the most prestigious international saxophone competitions, representing the USA in Belgium and Andorra.
In addition to his illustrious performing career, Tse was named a University of Iowa Distinguished Chair Professor of Saxophone in 2024. Under his direction, the Iowa Saxophonists’ Workshop has brought widespread recognition to Iowa’s School of Music, with its students succeeding at international competitions, earning positions at top institutions across the country, and producing CDs and videos showing their work. Notably, he has achieved the remarkable distinction of being the first saxophonist to hold concurrent, elected presidencies in both the North American Saxophone Alliance and the International Saxophone Committee. www.kenneth-tse.com
Highly in demand as a collaborative pianist, Casey Dierlam Tse has done hundreds of recitals, projects, and recordings with instrumentalists throughout North and South America, Europe, and Asia. With over 600 chamber pieces in her repertoire, she regularly performs in concerts at international music festivals and conferences.
An avid performer of contemporary music, Casey is devoted to working with, recording, and promoting the music of rising young composers, including Kevin Day, Josh Trentadue, Viet Cuong, Joel Love, Karalyn Schubring et. al.
No stranger to the saxophone world and an ardent performer of its repertoire, Casey has worked with renowned international artists such as Arno Bornkamp (NL), Claude Delangle (FR), Asya Fateyeva (DE), Jean-Yves Fourmeau (FR), Paweł Gusnar (PL), Branford Marsalis (US), Gerard McChrystal (UK), Debra Richtmeyer (USA) Nikita Zimin (RU) and as duo partner with husband, Kenneth Tse. Recent appearances include the World Saxophone Congress in Croatia, The Hong Kong Saxophone Symposium, the Asia Saxophone Congress in China, the Liceux Saxophone Festival in Barcelona, the Zurich Saxfest in Switzerland, among others.
Casey serves as the collaborative piano coordinator for the North American Saxophone Alliance conference, and regularly appears at the United States Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium, the Single Reed Summit, MTNA competitions, NASA conferences, and many other competitions in major cities across the United States. She has served as a pianist for the American Saxophone Academy and is currently hired as the official pianist for the Yamaha Young Performing Artist Award Weekend. Other notable collaborations include Charles Villarrubia, Sergio Carolino, Alexandra Nowakowski, Adam Frey, and David Shea, to name a few.
Since her orchestral debut at age 12, Casey has garnered many awards as a soloist in prestigious competitions, including the Rose Petroff College Piano Competition, the St. Louis Artist Presentation Society, The New Orleans International Piano Competition, and the Bradshaw and Bauono International Piano competition. She has performed as a soloist at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts and Bösendorfer Hall in Vienna, Austria.
Casey’s degrees in piano performance at Indiana State University (William Hughes) and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Timothy Ehlen) were supplemented by her studies with pianist and pedagogue Zitta Zohar in New York City.
