Cal State Fullerton’s College of the Arts is an essential part of the creative fabric of Southern California, proudly serving as both an academic resource and a cultural hub. We are a vibrant community of artists and technicians working together to push the boundaries of our craft who measure success in every note, every movement, and every spoken word we express.

Graduates of the College of the Arts contribute to the vitality of the arts nationally and globally and can be found in all facets of the thriving art and entertainment industries. Each year, more than 40,000 visitors come to campus to experience the concerts, exhibitions, masterclasses, visiting artist lectures, and performances we present.

Our expanded Visual Arts complex features new and renovated buildings with light-filled galleries, high-tech classrooms, a green screen lab, and makerspace – changes that bring increased opportunities for creative discovery and meaningful engagement with the arts.

WE ARE...

DELIVERING A COMPREHENSIVE ARTS EDUCATION

• Students are actively involved in a wide range of performances, concerts, exhibitions, and recitals, from conception to production, and participate in masterclasses, visiting artist lectures, and social practice actions. By contrast, these opportunities are typically reserved for seniors and graduate students at other institutions.

• As performers, artists, and expert instructors, our exceptional faculty “teach and do.” Our students directly benefit from the dedicated mentoring they receive from these Grammy Award-winning performers, arts organization leaders, published authors, and nationally recognized artists.

• Practical and technical skills are integrated alongside theoretical and conceptual aspects of each student’s field of study to empower students to realize their own individual artistic vision while refining their craft and develop into artists who possess great depth and humanity.

THE REGION’S ARTS EDUCATOR

• We are a college of regional focus with national impact. Locally, we serve as an academic and cultural resource for our community; nationally, our alumni contribute to the vibrant creative economy as artists, educators, performers, and professionals.

• As a Hispanic-serving university and an emerging national model for successful, comprehensive public universities, we provide access and opportunity to our community’s aspiring arts students.

• CSUF’s size, breadth, and longevity in arts education significantly impacts creative industries and economies in Southern California and beyond and enables us to serve diverse populations.

ADVOCATES FOR THE LIMITLESS FUTURE OF THE ARTS

• VISUAL ARTS: CSUF’s visual arts program is the largest within the 23-campus CSU system. Art students benefit a wide array of unique learning spaces including a motion capture studio, 3D makerspace, industry-standard Cintiq labs, and three new College of the Arts galleries dedicated to exhibiting student artwork.

• THEATRE & DANCE: Students utilize state-ofthe-art audio, lighting, and technical equipment, and rehearse in a broad array of dedicated spaces to gain crucial performance experience.

• SCHOOL OF MUSIC: Students perform at distinguished venues like the Hollywood Bowl and Walt Disney Concert Hall. The School’s Performance Science Centre Lab offers biometric and motion-capture performance improvement techniques.

VITAL TO THE CREATIVE ECONOMY OF CALIFORNIA AND BEYOND

• Department of Art graduates are highly sought after artists, historians, and educators employed at major design firms, entertainment studios, and museums and galleries (DreamWorks, Nickelodeon, J. the Paul Getty Museum, Disney, Sony Pictures, and the Museum of Contemporary Art L.A.).

• Theatre & Dance alumni are performers, technicians, and professionals throughout the diverse entertainment landscape and can be found at major film studios, Broadway, national touring companies, and professional dance and theatre companies.

• School of Music alumni have won Grammys, performed at the Metropolitan Opera, are professors at top universities, and music educators throughout regional K-12 schools.
