Introduction to Travel Writing Instructor: John Greenman

This course will explore the range of techniques travel writers use to discover and verify information, and to tell travel stories that engage readers. Students will report, write and post to the class web site one in-depth travel story. The approach is ”travel writing without the travel,” where students become expert about an aspect of Columbus as a travel “destination” for others.

Have an idea for a great story, but not sure how to get it on paper? Learn how to develop complex memorable characters, lush story settings, and a page-turning plot in this high-level workshop. You will have the opportunity to write and share your own short story, as well as critique and share ideas with peers. By the time the workshop is over, you’ll understand the components of popular fiction, as well as learn new writing habits to jump start your creativity!
