ABCs of voting in the June 28 primary election All active, registered voters should have received mailed ballots for the June 28 Primary Election. If not, contact the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office at 575-VOTE (8683) or elections@elpasoco.com. Unaffiliated voters are eligible to vote in this election. If you are registered to vote as unaffiliated, you will receive a mail ballot packet with both a Democratic Party ballot and a Republican Party ballot. Unaffiliated voters may use only one ballot. Complete instructions will be provided with your mail ballot packet. Information: clerkandrecorder.elpasoco.com/elections/ unaffiliated-voters. Voters also have the option to vote at a Voter Service and Polling Center (VSPC). Manitou Springs’ location is inside City Hall, 606 Manitou Ave. It will be open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, June 27, and 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 28. To receive your ballot in the mail, you must register to vote, or update your address/ registration if necessary, within eight days of the election at w ​ ww.govotecolorado.gov. For the 2022 Primary Election, that deadline is Monday, June 20.

Pool feasibility study presented at City Council work session By Marcus Hill Manitou Springs City Council fielded a discussion regarding findings from a pool feasibility study of the Manitou Pool & Fitness Center during its work session Tuesday, June 14. The project began March 23, when a steering committee chose Ohlson Lavoie Corp. to carry it out. The pool and fitness center, which began operating in 1970, was the subject of a Parks and Facilities study in 2021. “That was a pretty high-level analysis of the

facility with some recommendations for improvements,” said Skyler Beck, Manitou Parks and Rec director. “But we felt the need to do a little more in-depth analysis of the facility. Also, connect to the recreational needs of this community.” The OLC contract cost around $38,500, with funds coming from the 2022 capital improvement program. The project will take place in three phases over an unspecified period. Phase 1, the current one, includes market

analysis, an audit of the current facility and gathering input from the public and stakeholders. “We have engaged in other sub-consultants to look specifically at the pools and what the pool systems are in need of as far as reconfigurations and repairs, and the building and the physical plant in its totality,” said David Sprague, senior principal and lead design at OLC. “(We’ll also review) the surrounding
