Connect
Admitted students day is a valuable opportunity for newly admitted students to get a more comprehensive and personalized look at a college or university before making a final decision.
These events offer a chance to connect with faculty and staff, explore campus facilities, meet other students, and learn about academic programs, financial aid, and campus life.
Confirm and accept by May 1st!
Finalizing your college decision can feel overwhelming, but remember that it’s about finding a place where you will grow, learn, and thrive.
Think about what matters most to you: academic programs, campus environment, financial aid, distance from home, or support services. If you’re torn between schools take a campus tour (virtual or in person), and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
The schools that you are not going to, please go ahead and notify them that you will not be attending. You are holding a seat that could be given to someone else.
Once you’ve chosen your college, the next important step is registering for freshman orientation!
College orientation is your chance to get familiar with your new campus, meet other incoming students, and start building your support network before classes even begin.
You'll learn how to register for classes, explore campus resources, and get answers to all your questions about college life. Orientation can help ease your nerves and make the transition smoother because you’ll already know where things are and who to go to for help.
regularly check your NEW college email for information about different events!
As you get closer to starting college, it’s important to make sure your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is complete and accurate!
Log back into your FAFSA account and check that all your information like income, school choices, and signatures is correct and submitted. If your school asks for additional documents like tax forms or verification paperwork, turn those in as soon as possible to avoid delays in your financial aid.
You can also check your financial aid portal at your chosen college to make sure everything is moving forward. Taking a few extra minutes now can save you stress later and help ensure your financial aid is ready when you need it.
Meet with Ashly Wilson (our financial aid guru) to ensure you fully understand financial aid offer. She can break everything down for you and your family!
If you plan to live on campus, now is the time to take care of your housing!
Most colleges require you to complete a housing application, pay a deposit or fee, and sign a housing agreement so be sure to check your school’s housing portal for deadlines and details.
The housing agreement is a binding contract, so read it carefully and understand what you're committing to, including the cost, meal plan options, and any cancellation policies.
Some schools also let you rank your dorm preferences or choose a roommate, so keep an eye out for those options too. Registering early gives you a better chance of getting the dorm or roommate setup you want, so don’t procrastinate.
One of the most exciting parts of starting college is meeting new people, and it’s never too early to start connecting with your future classmates!
Many colleges create official social media pages, group chats, or forums for incoming students. These are great places to introduce yourself, ask questions, and even find a roommate.
Some schools also host admitted student events or summer meet-ups. Don’t be shy! Everyone is in the same boat, and chances are they’re just as nervous (and excited) as you are. Making a few connections now can help you feel more comfortable and confident when move-in day comes around!
Schedule anynecessaryvaccinations or health check ups ahead of time.
Please ensure that you submit all required health forms and immunization records.
It's also important to familiarize yourself with your medical historyand take responsibilityfor managing anyprescriptions you mayneed, including eyeglasses, contacts, dailymedications, or emergency prescriptions.
If you alreadyhave health insurance coverage, make sure to decline the school’s health insurance plan. That is an extra charge you can avoid!
Even though you’ve been accepted to college, your high school journey isn’t quite over yet!
Colleges require a final transcript after graduation to confirm you’ve completed your courses. Make sure to request that your school sends your final transcript to the college you’ll be attending as well as an AP, IB or Forsyth Tech credits that you have received.
Remember, your admission is still based on the expectation that you’ll finish strong. Keep your grades up, stay focused, and finish the year with the same effort you started with. Slipping too much in your final semester could raise red flags, so stay on track and finish proud!
