STEVE KIMBLE Head Coach Sixth season skimble@csbsju.edu 320-363-5873 Steve Kimble has had unprecedented success in his first five years as the Blazers’ head soccer coach, and looks to continue that in his sixth season. In 2013, Kimble led CSB to MIAC regularseason and tournament titles and was named the conference coach of the year for the second time in the past three seasons. The Blazers went 16-3-1 overall and 9-2 in the MIAC.

Saint John’s University, graduating in 1999. While attending SJU, Kimble earned All-American honors in track and field and earned a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education. He later earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Southwest Minnesota State University and is currently working on a second Master’s degree in U sports p management from St. Cloud State. K Kimble also serves as Assistant Athletic Director and oversees CSB Athletics promotions and events. A

The Blazers put together two seven-game winning streaks in 2013, and made it to the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament before their season ended. Senior Colleen Bouchard capped off a stellar career with NCAA Division III All-American honors. Bouchard, Megan Lenz, Peggy Renier and Grace Vaughan earned All-MIAC accolades, and Bouchard, Renier and Lenz were named AllRegion. Kimble’s Blazers are the only team to make the MIAC playoffs in each of the past four seasons. Kimble took over as head coach at St. Ben’s in 2009 and guided the team to a 107-1 record. In 2010, the Blazers took third in the MIAC, and in his third season at the helm in 2011, Kimble led CSB to MIAC regular-season and tournament titles. He was named the MIAC and NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year. That same year, the Blazers advanced to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA National Tournament. At the end of the season, Kimble was selected as the head coach of the USA DIII All-Star team that toured in Brazil. The Blazers finished 7-6-4 in 2012 and made the MIAC tournament. That season, they were the only team in the MIAC to score in every regular-season game.

After five seasons, Kimble is 57-30-10 overall with the Blazers, with a 36-16-3 mark in conference play. From 2003 to 2008, Kimble served as a coach and Director of Coaching for the Lakes Area Youth Soccer Association. In addition, he has been a Coerver Coaching Camp clinician and camp director for seven years. Kimble began his coaching career in 1995 as a St. Cloud Soccer Club coach and director of coaching education, a position he held until 2002. From 1998-2002 he worked with Sartell High School as the assistant girls’ soccer coach and track and field throws coach. Kimble also assisted with the SJU track and field program in 2000. From there, he went on to Brainerd High School where he was hired as head girls’ soccer and track and field pole vault coach. In a successful run with the girls’ soccer program he was named Section 8AA coach of the year twice, won five consecutive conference titles and qualified twice for the state tournament. In his last five years at Brainerd, Kimble’s record against Central Lakes Conference opponents was 58-5-3.

BLAZER SOCCER

The Blazer Soccer Tradition The College of Saint Benedict soccer program is one of the strongest women’s soccer traditions in the Midwest. The Blazers have put together 25 straight winning seasons, with their last non-winning effort coming in 1988. The Blazers have also earned 21 top-four conference finishes in the last 23 years. Saint Benedict has long been a top choice for talented young female soccer players that want a lot out of college. St. Ben’s offers some of the best soccer in the Midwest, a premier education and an unforgetable college experience. Do not underestimate the Division III model. Our athletes can study pre-professional programs, study abroad and be involved in other activities. They can take a full credit load every semester without the worry of missing an extensive amount of class. St. Ben’s student-athletes average a 3.40 GPA, which exceeds the student body average of 3.28. As a whole, St. Ben’s students graduate in four years, and often have jobs or graduate school acceptance early in their senior year. The College of Saint Benedict experience and the soccer tradition are definitely worth looking into.
