OBJECTS TRANSPORTED TO THE JUNKYARD
The Junkyard is a recycling and education center located on the quays near Sheffield’s ring road. Residents can drop off unwanted materials to be recycled or transformed into artworks. With walls built from reclaimed materials and an open facade revealing the recycling process, the building also serves as a showcase for sustainable design and environmental education.

PLASTIC RECYCLING WORKSHOP

The Famagusta Cultural Center is a vibrant hub for celebrating shared cultural heritage. Managed by the Famagusta Walled City Association, the center serves as a space where traditional crafts are produced, taught, and shared. It supports the preservation of local knowledge while fostering community engagement through the sale and exhibition of handmade works.

NEW INTERVENTIONS

During the Central and Western district festival of 2018, the community of Sai Ying Pun came together to create a park full of exhibits and play material to introduce traditions and history of Hong Kong to the younger generation. It was unsuccessfull due to the park’s lack of accessibility and poor conditions. Therefore by creating a headquarter for the organization ‘Playright’, a place of play and education would be created for children, along a place of work for organization of activities.

GARDEN GATE PILOT PROJECT - Trial on the circular economy system in Margate, collecting unwanted pallets and collaborating with the community to create Garden beds. We were able to learn about the pros and cons of the process, also building connections with the local
The Circular Margate Live Project is a response to our client Bon Volks’ brief, to explore the feasibility and demand of a Materials Hub in Margate, Kent. With an expanding network of art institutions, local manufacturing and community groups - we had to investigate how materials are used, processed and disposed of, in order to know where to integrate Circular Economy principles. The 6 week Live Project was an opportunity to discover existing connections in Margate as well as building new ones, learning valuable lessons on how a system could be better suited to the needs of the community.

CLIENT SUBMISSIONS -
We produced different guides on how the client could continue with ‘Circular Margate’, different directions they could take based on what we learnt from our pilot project and community engagement.

Local (the client) collaborated with Live Project in a 6 week project to co-design Green Room—a blueprint adapted from Urban Room theory, placing nature and permaculture at its core. Exploring how arts-based engagement can enable environmental justice and amplify community voices, the team developed Seed Pods: flexible, semi-enclosed spaces that reflect natural growth patterns and adapt uniquely to their local context. Designed through a collaborative process with stakeholders and community groups, the Seed Pods can activate urban or rural areas temporarily or permanently, forming part of a wider Green Room network.
