Welcome to the 2025 Crystal Palace Beer Festival! This has been Palace’s traditional end of season party ever since Steve, Martin, Jeremy and I bought the club out of administration fifteen years ago. We have always had something to celebrate – saving the club. Staying in the Championship. Promotion. Staying Up. Staying Up again. And again. Finishing mid-table. And again...
But, today we can really top them all with the biggest celebration ever, we’ve only gone and won the FA Cup! Has it fully sunk in yet? Last Saturday was one of the greatest days of my life and I imagine that it was for everyone here today.
Having attempted to win something significant since 1861, it means so much to all of us to have finally done it in 2025. Of course, this is mostly down to our brilliantly assembled squad of players (the best ever in my opinion) and our outstanding Manager. But it’s also down to our sensational fans who have packed Wembley twice and created the most incredible atmosphere that instilled in our team a sense of inevitable victory. This was destined to be our year, and we all did it together. I would also like to mention the unbelievable job that our chairman Steve Parish has done, firstly in orchestrating the complex deal that enabled us to buy the club and stadium back in 2010 and then in devoting his every waking hour of the last 15 years to get this club to a level where we have never been before.
Our next stop is Europe, but today we can enjoy a fantastic lineup of the greatest British beers and ciders, expertly selected by Mark Russell – as they have been since our first festival.
Continuing our theme of “South London and Proud”, do make sure that you try local beers from the likes of Belleville (Wandsworth Common), Anspach & Hobday (Bermondsey), The Cronx (New Addington), Bullfinch (Herne Hill), Signal (Croydon), Southwark, Bexley and Brockley...
TODAY WE CAN REALLY TOP THEM ALL WITH THE BIGGEST CELEBRATION EVER, WE’VE ONLY GONE AND WON THE FA CUP! HAS IT FULLY SUNK IN YET? LAST SATURDAY
WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST DAYS OF MY LIFE AND I IMAGINE THAT IT WAS FOR EVERYONE HERE TODAY
Then from further afield must-trys for me include Fyne Ales (Scotland), Monty’s (Wales), Ossett (Yorkshire), Pennine and Thornbridge (Derbyshire) and my own favourite brewery Oakham (Peterborough).
Our thanks this year also go to Craig from Titsey Brewery (owned by a Palace-supporting family) and Roley’s whose “Super Natural Lager” is on show for the first time.
Another CPFC Beer Festival “regular” is here today – actor and brewer Neil Morrissey - and we are excited and honoured that we will be joined in opening the festival by none other than bonafide Palace legend Julian Speroni – who needs absolutely no introduction from me.
To entertain you, we have a host of musicians - and a match to watch on the pitch. We have donated Selhurst Park today to Westside FC which is wonderful community club in Wandsworth that is close to my heart, and does fantastic work in the community running multiple senior teams and, incredibly, 45 youth teams from under 7 to under 18. www.westsidefc.org.uk
Thank you for your fantastic support this season and let’s look forward to 2025/2026. Make sure that your passport is up to date, because we’re all going on a European tour.
Up the Palace! Steve
