myDNA tags
DNA testing is a powerful tool that provides valuable genetic information about each cow in your herd. Make more informed decisions in breeding, herd management, and animal health with CRV’s myDNA service.
USE OF TISSUE SAMPLING TAGS
DNA testing while tagging animals combines the process of tagging for identification and collecting a DNA sample into one efficient step.
Tissue Sampling Tags (TSU) simultaneously attach an ID tag to the animal’s ear and collects a small tissue sample for DNA testing.
HOW TO TAKE CALF DNA SAMPLES

Order DNA calf tags as part of your ear tag order. Each TSU is pre-labeled with a unique ID number that matches the ear tag.
Tag the animal with matching birth-ID and NAIT tag, then take DNA sample with linked vial.
Store the samples in the fridge and when all replacements have been sampled post to our lab.

MYHERD AND NEW CALVES
The myHERD team can offer support if you are having any issues or questions when creating new calf records. Here are some top tips to avoid any problems during this period.

When replacing lost EIDs (NAIT white button tag), it is important not to use EIDs that are linked with a different BID (lifetime Birth ID)
BIDs (lifetime Birth IDs) should never be deliberately removed as they are your animal’s lifetime identification
Keep an eye on animals for missing tags.
Check and deal with your NAIT notifications in the myHERD alert bell, these are important. The myHERD team can help you clear them.
Keep culls, deaths, purchases and retags up to date in myHERD so that when you pull the vacant tag list in myHERD it gives accurate information and will help you avoid double ups.
Check and deal with your NAIT notifications in the NAIT website.
Order your tags before you need them including having a stock of unlinked EID tags ready to use for lost tags.
If animals are at grazing, the grazier must use their own unlinked EID tags to replace lost EID tags as NAIT will not accept EID tags being used at a different NAIT location.

LEADER PRODUCTS OUR STORY
Launched in 1948, Leader Products began as a specialist manufacturer and wholesale distributor of livestock identification systems and animal husbandry products.
In 1950, Leader Products started producing Australia’s first plastic ear tags for sheep and by 1956, had become the predominant supplier for ID tags to the Australian and New Zealand sheep industries.

In the 1960’s, Leader Products began producing cattle tags for the Australian & New Zealand livestock industry. Innovative designs like their two-piece ear tags were patented in the 1980’s and further established their stake as an innovator in livestock identification and animal husbandry products.
In 2018, Leader Products Pty Ltd formed a partnership with Queclink Wireless Solutions Co. Ltd for the exclusive distribution rights of Leader Products outside of the Australian and New Zealand market.
Combining the experience of Leader Products in the industry and the technology of Queclink, the two companies have joined forces to revolutionise the livestock identification industry by providing reliable and innovative solutions for managing livestock.
We understand the only way to innovate is to think differently. That’s why we continue to introduce new products and roll out our global laser marking facilities and ecommerce platform. Both companies are committed to supporting traceability, sustainability, and management options for all species of livestock around the world.
Queclink’s recent partnership with Leader Products is the next step in the modernisation of livestock identification. Never one to compromise on quality, their latest designs still have the same structural integrity that farmers have relied on for the last seven decades.
