Let your spirit soar Known as the “City of a Thousand Spires”, Montréal has a rich religious history that will surround you from the moment you step ashore in Old Montréal. Start with the Notre-Dame Basilica, the fabulously ornate Gothic Revival masterpiece. Just next door is the Saint-Sulpice Seminary, the oldest building in Montréal, dating from the 1600s. Then turn your gaze skyward and head up to the majestic St. Joseph’s Oratory, perched on the slopes of Mount Royal.
