tiled showers made easy A new solution from Atlantis removes the challenge of fitting a channel drain into a timber floor, or into any flooring structure where there are unacceptable risks of water leakage.

The one-piece Linea Quattro tile-over shower base and integrated channel drain is designed to achieve a level-access shower floor – in most cases without the need for cutting into the joists. What you really need to know About Polystyrene EIFS- Lightweight Cladding Systems.

At Dulux AcraTex we’ve been designing specialist finishing systems for new construction for over three decades protecting some of Australia‘s landmark architecture and infrastructure projects and working with Substrate Supply Partners to deliver total piece of mind with appropriate coatings specifications.

Traditional masonry construction has stood the test of time and supported by dedicated trades continues to be valued in the building industry. Increasingly however, the need for Flexibility of Design and Energy Efficiency push designers and builders to seek faster more efficient systems particularly in residential construction.

External Insulating and Finishing Systems (EIFS), long established in Europe and America are now being recognised in Australia for their benefits, however their ultimate success relies heavily on a clear understanding of the dynamics of the substrate (ie the Expanded Polystyrene Foam “EPS”), its requirements for coating to ensure long term durability and the Integrated nature of design and installation responsibilities.

How does Dulux AcraTex fit into the EIFS market?

EIFS is not new to AcraTex - in fact as a founder in the acrylic texture market over 30 years ago, AcraTex was a pioneer in the use of EIFS systems designing and installing systems specifically for Insulation benefits as originally used in Europe. AcraTex Exsulite has been a brand of Dulux for over 25 years.

What experience tells us: 1. Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) requires specialist “Base Coats” to provide long term adhesion and durability. Beware of suppliers/ installers using Cement Renders or even their labelled “Acrylic Renders”. Expanded foam requires a high polymer base coat for adhesion - much higher than most “Acrylic Renders” 2. Cavity Drainage is critical in ensuring stability of the facade.

This is Best Practice Design for traditional construction and is equally applicable in any Lightweight Cladding System.

3. Integration of design, components and installation is required to ensure “as built” meets design specification Lightweight Cladding Systems are able to be installed by a broader installer base (vs traditional masonry). In the BCA their use is classified as an Alternate Solution requiring validation. CodeMark certification is an acceptable approach, however it is important that Certification cover the full aspects of the relevant BCA requirements and that Installation is controlled to ensure full compliance.

4. Rigid, cement based renders and paint systems are unsuitable to maintain a weatherproofing envelope. Lightweight Cladding Systems (EIFS or FC) require Flexible Acrylic Texture and Elastomeric Topcoats to accommodate normal expansion and contraction.

VW Amorok – uber ute Volkswagen Amarok was christened in the ochre dust of the famous Dakar Rally.

In January 2010, and again in 2011, Amarok demonstrated its power, durability and off-road performance as official support vehicle on the world famous and infinitely challenging Dakar Rally, conquering some of the most testing terrain in the world. The system constantly monitors and evaluates data from all four wheels, and applies braking force where necessary to help prevent the vehicle swerving in critical conditions.

The Brake Assist works in conjunction with the ESP and kicks in when the system recognises heavier than normal braking. It automatically applies extra braking pressure, which in combination with other systems such as ABS brings the Amarok to a safe and controlled stop. Unique for its class, the ESP system remains active even when the Amarok is operated in 4x4 High mode.
