How Does a Pump Stroke Counter System Work?

Pump Stroke Counter Systems function like a blood pressure cuff. Each time a person’s heart pumps, a blood pressure cuff reads the systolic and diastolic pressure. Just like this device, a pump stroke counter detects the movement of the mud pump piston by a limit switch and sends a signal to the stroke counter.

Once the signal reaches the counter, it is converted to a logic pulse. The pulse feeds two separate circuits: Total Strokes, Strokes/Minute.

Strokes/Minute -- The rate circuit averages the number of closures against a real time clock and is then indicated in the Strokes/Minute LED Window.

Total Strokes -- The total strokes circuit totals up the contact closures and is indicated in the Total Strokes LED window.
