Kupas Rabbeinu Lubavitch
Boruch Hashem, Elul 5783917-913-6724
P.O.B. 288 Brooklyn, New York 11225
URGENT REQUEST!
HUNDREDS OF FAMILIES ANXIOUSLY LOOKING FORWARD FOR YOUR GENEROUS ASSISTANCE!
To every member of the Lubavitcher community:
During this month of preparation for Rosh Hashonoh, the ”head” of the New Year, we fondly recall our Rebbe’s words that this is an especially auspicious time for strengthening our deep bond of Hiskashrus with the ”Rosh Bnei Yisroel,” the ”head” of the Jewish people and leader of the generation.
Our Rebbeim explain that an important way to strengthen Hiskashrus is by participating in the Rebbe’s activities and concerns, consequently, by supporting an organization that brings together a number of these activities, the Hiskashrus is greater and stronger . Such an organization is Kupas Rabbeinu, which seeks to continue many of the Rebbe’s activities and concerns without change from the way he would conduct them himself.
Every year at this time, the Rebbe would call upon us to contribute generously to help needy families with their extra expenses for the coming month’s many Yomim Tovim. This also coincides with the special emphasis during this month of giving extra Tzedokah, (indicated in the Hebrew letters of the word ”Elul,” as explained in many Sichos etc.), as a vital way of preparing ourselves for the new year and arousing Divine mercy upon us. See sicho in the Hebrew text of this letter. We therefore appeal to every individual man and woman to contribute generously to Kup as Rabbeinu, enabling us to fulfill the Rebbe’s desire to help all those who anxiously await our help. The greater your contribution, the more we can accomplish. Please do not forsake them!
Your generous contribution to Kupas Rabbeinu will be the appropriate vessel for receiving the abundant blessings of the Rebbe, who is its Nasi, that you may be blessed with a Ksiva Vachasima Tova for a good and sweet year, materially and spiritually. May it help to bring the full revelation of Moshiach - our Rebbe - immediately now!
Wishing you a Ksiva Vachasima Tova for a good and sweet year, On behalf of Kupas Rabbeinu, R’ Samuel Malamud Groner family R’ Yosef Boruch Spielman
P.S. Of course, you may send to Kupas Rabbeinu all contributions that you would send to the Rebbe; all will be devoted to the activities to which the Rebbe would devote them. You may also send Maimad, Keren-Hashono (this coming year 5784 - 383 days), Vov Tishrei, Yud Gimmel Tishrei Magbis etc. to Kupas Rabbeinu
Important Note:
Please make all checks out to “Kupas Rabbeinu” and send only to the following address:

DON’T BURN IT!
(Based on Likutei Sichos vol. 2 p. 390)

Parshas Ki Savo begins with the mitzva of bikurim. Moshe instructed the Yidden that when they enter Eretz Yisroel and plant their fields they should bring the first fruits of the shivas haminim to the Beis HaMikdash. There, the Yid would place the bikurim next to the mizbe’ach, and then give the fruits as a gift to the Kohen.

Question – Why weren’t the bikurim burnt on the mizbe’ach like all the other korbonos? Why were they eaten by the Kohen?
Answer – The mitzva of bikurim teaches us how to serve Hashem properly. A person can make a mistake and think that the only proper place and proper way to serve Hashem is while he is in shul and yeshiva. They are holy places and are the fitting place to connect to Hashem. He may assume, that at home where he does his daily routine activities, like eating and drinking, these

things have nothing to do with kedusha. He may even think to get rid of physicality, just like the korbonos were burnt on the mizbe’ach.
The mitzva of bikurim teaches us that we can serve Hashem even while we are involved in our regular physical routines, like eating fruits. We don’t have to burn them, but rather we can enjoy them in a Torah way.
The same is true with our physical things. By recognizing that they come from Hashem, we can become like a Kohen and are able to serve Hashem while enjoying our fruits and other physical objects!
After bringing bikurim, Hashem would bentch the Yid with a bracha to return again next year with more bikurim. So too today, when we use our physical belongings for Hashem and His mitzvos, Hashem bentches us to have even more belongings to enjoy in a Torah way, with increased joy!

Beyond Speech
On the Haftarah: Rise and Shine
By Rabbi Yitzi HurwitzThis week we read the sixth haftarah of consoling. It tells us what it will be like when Moshiach comes and how special we are. Hidden in the words of the haftarah is the secret to bringing Moshiach sooner.
The haftarah begins: “Arise, shine, for your light has come.” The Baal Shem Tov explains that this verse is talking to Jewish spiritual leaders who set aside their own growth in Torah and mitzvahs in order to give back to the community.
In truth, if they focused on their own spiritual growth instead of the community’s, they would attain far greater spiritual heights. To them, the verse says: “Arise, shine, for your light has come.” Hashem is saying: “Don’t be afraid that you are losing out; give your light to the community, ‘for your light has come.’ You are not losing out. You will receive the light that you are sacrificing.”
The same is true for any person who helps another spiritually or physically. They are not losing out, and when we show love to each other and help each other spiritually or physically, we bring Moshiach sooner.
Now the haftarah tells us how the nations of the world and their kings will serve us and bring us all kinds of gifts. They will recognize G-d and honor Him.
The haftarah continues to tell us that we won’t need the sun or the moon because G-d will be our everlasting light, “and you will have completed your days of mourning.” Why does the verse say “completed”? It should have used the word “ended”? The point here is that we will have completed our missions. Every Jewish person has mitzvahs to do and when we complete our mitzvahs, the world will be ready
for Moshiach. Every extra mitzvah we do brings Moshiach that much sooner.
G-d now says: “Your people are all righteous. They will inherit the land forever; they are the branch of My planting, the work of My hands, in which I will glory.” This verse tells us two things about how G-d feels about us. First, we will inherit the land forever because we are all righteous—meaning, we all did the mitzvahs we had to do. Even more than that, he loves us because we are the branch of His plantings and the work of His hands. This means that he loves us not only for our accomplishments, but simply because of who we are.
When you build something, you choose the materials and the design. However, when you plant something, you have no control over how it will turn out. By saying “the branch of my planting,” G-d is saying that He loves us each for the unique person we have become.
G-d also glorifies himself through the Jewish people because we are His representatives in this world. When we act in accordance with His will, everyone recognizes that we are His people, and He is glorified.
How do we know that our work can hasten the redemption? We learn it from the last words of the haftarah, which say regarding the redemption, “in its time, I will hasten it.” If it’s in its time, it is not hastened; and if it is hastened, it is before it’s time.
What then is the meaning of these words? The answer is that if we are not worthy, it will come in its time. However, if we are worthy, because of our mitzvahs, kindness and love for each other, it will be hastened.
There is no doubt that with all we have done and all we have been through, we are more than worthy.

EatinginOrdertoDaven
When Rebbitzin Rivkah was about eighteen years old, she fell very ill. The doctor ordered her to eat right away when she woke up in the morning.
Rebbitzen Rivka didn’t want to eat before davening, so shebegan waking up earlier to daven, followed by breakfast atan early hour. Her father in law, the Tzemach Tzedek, called her in to askwhatthe doctor said. Rebbitzen Rivka repeated the instructions- eat first thing in the morning.

The Tzemach Tzedek asked if she was following it. She explained how she started davening even earlier.
The Tzemach Tzedek explained to Rebbitzen Rivka: A Jew must be healthy

and strong. The Torah commands a yid Vachai bahem! — ‘One should live by the mitzvos. Vachai Bahem can also mean That our mitzvos need to be done with lots of chayus, in a lively way! In order be energetic and excited when we do mitzvos, a person needs to be strong, healthy, and happy. You should not daven when you are hungry.
Better to eat in order to daven, than to daven in order to eat, the Tzemach Tzedek explained. He thengave Rebbitzen Rivkah a brocha for long life.
