LAKEWOOD: CROWN HEIGHTS: WILLIAMSBURG:
To all Anash, Men and Women, G-d bless you.
We are soon approaching the very auspicious day, Gimmel Tammuz. This day comes in close proximity with Sivan 28, the auspicious day that the Rebbe MH”M and the Rebbetzin arrived in the United States.
Obviously, these are very opportune days, when one should again evaluate his or her “Hiskashrus” (connection) with the Rebbe, and more important, to utilize these special days to ‘strengthen’ the Hiskashrus to the Rebbe.
“KUPAS RABBEINU,” was established with the full consent and blessing of the Rebbe, with its purpose and goal to make every effort that all of the Rebbe`s activities, institutions etc. continue unchanged. By supporting Kupas Rabbeinu, one is actually participating in many of the Rebbe’s activ-ities, and thus strengthening their Hiskashrus to the Rebbe.
With this in mind, we therefore urge each and everyone of anash, men and women to support Kupas Rabbeinu in every possible way.
In this merit may we be “zoiche” that much before Gimmel Tammuz, the Rebbe will be revealed as Melech Hamoshiach and redeem us from this deep and bitter Golus and lead us all to the true and final Geulo, NOW MAMAOSH.
288 Brooklyn, NY 11225
P.S. Of course, you may send to Kupas Rabbeinu all contributions that you would send to the Rebbe; all will be devoted to the activities to which the Rebbe would devote them. You may also send Maimad, Keren-Hashono, Vov Tishrei, Yud Gimmel Tishrei Magbis etc. to Kupas Rabbeinu
In this week’s parshah, Bahaalotecha, we read about the menorah. First, it tells us how Aaron, the High Priest, should light the menorah. “When you kindle [literally “raise”] the lamps, the seven lights should be made to shine towards the center of the menorah.” Then it tells us how it was made: hammered out of one solid piece of gold.
The Torah already told us how the menorah was made. What is the point repeating it here? This section of the Torah is about the lighting of the menorah. How does its construction fit in?
The menorah was an ornate candelabra, and though it was a difficult task, the artisan was not permitted to weld it together from separate pieces. Rather, it had to be hammered from one piece of gold. Why? Because the menorah symbolized the Jewish people. The seven branches symbolized seven different spiritual pathways of our souls. It had to be hammered from one piece because even though we have different pathways, our souls are one at its source.
When the High Priest lit the lamps, he was igniting the souls of the Jewish people. The Torah uses the word “raise” to tell the priest that he is to kindle it until the flame rises on its own.
The problem is that while the menorah is made of one piece, the different branches give the opposite impression. It seems to express division.
The job of the priest was to complete the menorah by setting the wicks in a way that the flames faced the center branch, which
unified them all; this way, the menorah once again gave the impression of unity and oneness. So it is the kindling of the menorah that completed its construction.
Hashem tells us that we are to be His “kingdom of priests and a holy nation.” Each of us has the ability to ignite the souls of our fellow Jews. Here, we are taught the right way to do it.
First, you have to know that we are essentially one at our core. Then, you have to recognize that every Jew has a unique pathway, and you’re not to force him down your own. Your job is to ignite the other’s soul, with light and love, until the soul is burning bright on its own. Last but not least, it should be done in a way of unity, so he feels that he is one with his people and that his people are one.
So many of us are broken, so many of us are in pain, in need of uplifting, of our souls being ignited. This dark exile has gone on long enough. We need to be priests for each other and lift each other up.
I have found that there is nothing better and more important than lifting the spirit of another. It has become my favorite thing. Even from my bed—with only the use of my eyes, my heart and my smile—I try my best to lift people’s spirits. Every person has good and positive, and if you pay attention, you will see it. When you point out those qualities, you bring out who they are, you see how beautiful they are, and their spirit is lifted.
Lift up the spirit of a single individual, and you change the world for good.
A girl who had yechidus asked the Rebbe how all the miracles stories were possible.
The Rebbe said: You surely refer to all the stories about tzaddikim and the Baal Shem Tov …
She said that’s what she meant although she had really meant the stories told about the Rebbe.
The Rebbe asked her whether she believes in G-d and she said yes. Did she believe that G-d created the world? Yes. Did she believe that before limited Creation there was an unlimited G-dly light? She said yes. Did she believe G-d gave the Torah? Yes. Did she believe that the Torah is not limited? She did not understand the question. The Rebbe explained that he meant that the Torah is unlimited in time and space and she said it does not matter where a Jew is; the Torah is not limited by his limitations.
The Rebbe said: Tzaddikim are bound to the Torah and they fulfill it in every detail. Therefore, with the power of Torah they have unlimited abilities in time and place and with this power they can do miracles. The girl said she understood.

Kurant 5768)Rabbi Zushe of Anipoli sat at home and learned with his son. R’ Zushe suddenly
shuddered and his expression was one of great excitement. His son asked what happened and R’ Zushe said, “Didn’t you see the walls of the house shaking? A soul from the world of Atzilus passed by the house!”
The son hadn’t seen the walls of the house shake but he saw that his father was shaken up. He asked: Will I also merit to see this soul? His father said yes, and they went back to learning.
Some time later, a man carrying a sack entered the house. He spoke for a few minutes with R’ Zushe and left. When father and son finished learning, the son asked, “Why didn’t the man who has a soul from Atzilus come?”
R’ Zushe said, “That was the man holding the sack,” who, it turned out, was the Alter Rebbe.
(Reshimos Devarim p. 73)
Disciples of the Alter Rebbe and friends of the great Chassid, Rabbi Isaac of Homil, would denigrate him and call him “the seventh” since he completed Shas seven times before going to the Rebbe.
He once complained about their behavior and the Rebbe said to him: What can be done when your soul is from the world of Atzilus but your body is not a match for it? Therefore, it needs bitushim to make it into a suitable vessel for the soul.
