Message From The Chair Welcome once again to our Annual Village Day. The Wembdon Community Association has once again had a successful year, enabling us to make donations to many organisations and groups within the Village. The committee continue to work hard to fund raise - and with the support of you, the public - we hope to continue supporting organisations within the Village. Our main fund raising event is, of course, Village Day, which attracts over 4,000 people through the gates. Special thanks to those of you who braved the adverse weather to support us once more at last years’ event. Other events over the year include our Professional Aerial Display by Skyburst at our annual Fireworks evening in late October. Keep an eye out once again this year for extra activities during the day. Carols on the Common during the run up to Christmas provided enjoyment on a cold night. Why not come along this year? Watch out for the posters. The Senior Citizens once again enjoyed a wonderful Christmas meal in January and our Quiz Evening proved extremely popular in February, an extra Car Boot Sale in May this year also helped to boost funds. For the first time this year a Senior Citizens Summer Afternoon Tea Party was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. Young musicians from Wembdon and Angela from The Jay Singers provided musical entertainment on the piano and violin whilst guitar accompanied vocals were provided by Chrissie Melhuish of The Cottage Inn ably supported by Wembdon local Paul Sweeting.
We are always looking for new members to help us raise money for Wembdon and to help us out at our events - so if you are interested in joining the WCA, please come to our AGM on Tuesday 19th November 2013 at 8:00pm at Wembdon Parish Centre - or speak to a member of the committee on Village Day. Our Annual Aerial Firework Display will be held on Saturday 26th October 2013 once more in the “Auction” field, Blakes Road. We look forward to seeing you on Village Day - Monday 26th August 2013 and hope that you enjoy the day and all that it has to offer - with its many attractions including the Flower Show, Band, the big Car Boot Sale, Children's Races and Activities, a Bouncy Castle, new attractions in the field and a Dog Display Team.

Rules 1.
All entries must be grown or produced by the entrant.
2.
Classes 1 - 14, 34 - 51, 66 - 68, 72 - 76, 85 - 95 and 202 are restricted to residents of Wembdon.
3.
Classes 106 - 110, 111 - 116, 120 - 128, 132 - 140 are open to residents of Wembdon, pupils of Wembdon St George's School or members of Wembdon young peoples organisations. Proof of membership may be requested. Class 204 is restricted to pupils of Wembdon St George’s School.
4.
Classes 15 - 33, 52 - 65, 69 - 71, 77 - 84, 96 - 105, 117 - 119, 129 - 131 and 141 144 are open to all.
5.
All exhibitors must provide their own containers etc. The Committee cannot be responsible for loss or damage to exhibits or receptacles.
6.
All entries to be staged between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on the morning of the Show.
7.
No exhibitor will be allowed to enter more than one exhibit in any one Class.
8.
No person may handle or move another person's exhibit when staging his / her own.
9.
The Committee will ensure that no persons other than those officially appointed shall be present in the hall during the judging.
10.
Entry forms to be handed in no later than 7 p.m. on Saturday 24 th August 2013, except Class 202, which must be handed in by Monday 19 th August 2013.
11.
The entry fee for the Adult Classes 1 – 105 inclusive and Class 202 will be 15p. For the Children’s Classes 106 – 144 inclusive and Class 204 entrance is free.
12.
All points awarded on the basis of: 3 points 1st, 2 points 2nd, and 1 point 3rd.
13.
All exhibits and certificates must remain staged until the cups have been awarded.
14.
Prize money must be collected on the day of the Show after destaging.
15.
The Committee will hold winners responsible for the safe custody of any cups or trophies won by them.
16.
CUPS AND TROPHIES MUST BE RETURNED TO THE SECRETARY (c/o WEMBDON POST OFFICE) 21 DAYS PRIOR TO THE NEXT SHOW.
17.
In any dispute, the decision of the Stewards shall be final.
18.
The WCA would appreciate any exhibit for Auction after the show, for the benefit of funds. “For Auction” cards will be available before exhibits are displayed.
