AS OUR EXECUTIVE PASTOR, JORDAN POLSON, PREPARES TO TRANSITION FROM HIS ROLE, IT’S TIME TO PULL BACK THE CURTAIN AND GET TO KNOW THE MAN BEHIND THE SCENES. FOR NEARLY TWO DECADES, JORDAN HAS BEEN THE QUIET FORCE SHAPING OUR CHURCH’S JOURNEY, WORKING TIRELESSLY ALONGSIDE PASTOR DAN AND THE REST OF THE TEAM TO MAKE CROSSROADS WHAT IT IS TODAY.

But Jordan’s story isn’t just about titles and roles—it’s about the heart and soul he’s poured into every aspect of ministry. Despite being more comfortable out of the spotlight, his impact resonates deeply with both staff and congregation alike. Now, as he prepares to step into a new chapter of life, we have the chance to hear directly from Jordan himself.

In this interview, we sit down with Jordan to uncover his journey, his passions, and the moments that have defined his time at CrossRoads. Join us as we take a closer look at the man who’s left an indelible mark on our church and its vision, and express our heartfelt appreciation for his unwavering dedication over the years.

BEFORE STEPPING INTO THE ROLE OF EXECUTIVE PASTOR, HOW LONG WERE YOU A PART OF THE CROSSROADS CHURCH FAMILY? WHAT DREW YOU TO THIS COMMUNITY INITIALLY?

We joined CrossRoads in 1980 when it was Oriole Park Church. Kathleen and I married in ‘79, and we were drawn to the church’s community. Our involvement in leadership began early on; we started teaching Sunday School and later expanded to adult classes and youth ministry. Pastor Willard Swalm asked me to chair the Church Board when I was around 25 or 26, marking the beginning of many leadership responsibilities.

I was part of the search team for Pastor Glenn Fretz and led the search for Pastor Dan Cochrane in 1996, whom I jokingly remind that I helped hire. Even during a three-year hiatus for work in Calgary and Edmonton, we remained connected to Oriole Park, continuing to tithe to the church. Returning to Red Deer for my current role felt like coming home.

SHARE WITH US HOW YOU WERE INITIALLY CALLED TO THE POSITION OF EXECUTIVE PASTOR AND WHAT LED YOU TO ACCEPT THIS ROLE.

In 2004, Pastor Dan surprised me with a call on our wedding anniversary. Instead of wishing us well, he asked if I’d consider returning to CrossRoads as the Executive Pastor. I was taken aback as I was settled in Edmonton with a successful career in IT. Over three months, Kathleen and I weighed the pros and cons. The list against coming back was long, but we were drawn by the prospect of reconnecting with friends and feeling a calling from God. Ultimately, the shorter list won, and we returned to Red Deer. It was a meaningful decision to rejoin our community and be part of CrossRoads,

the evolved version of Oriole Park Church. I started in October 2004, just a year after CrossRoads’ inception in December 2003.

WHAT’S INVOLVED IN THE ROLE OF AN EXECUTIVE PASTOR?

The role of Executive Pastor encompasses a variety of responsibilities. When I first started I was tasked with supporting Pastor Dan in organizational aspects like finances, facility management, and internal policies. With a congregation of around 1,300 and a staff of 13, I led the staff to ensure smooth operations, allowing Pastor Dan to focus on spiritual matters and teaching. Drawing from my experience at Oriole Park, I also oversaw ministry aspects, guiding pastors, aligning them with our vision, and ensuring our church’s goals were reflected in all ministries. My role balanced operational tasks with ministry leadership, leveraging my skills and passion cultivated over years of involvement in church ministry. While some aspects of my role have evolved over time, most of these areas still remain under my leadership. I may directly be involved or I have developed other leaders on our team of 47 that now share these responsibilities.

IN YOUR ROLE OVERSEEING OPERATIONS, FINANCES, AND STRATEGIC VISION, WHAT WERE SOME OF THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES YOU FACED?

I believe one of the key challenges we’ve faced is the ongoing balancing act between our dreams and the practicalities of implementation. It’s about ensuring we feel empowered, yet also have the necessary budget and resources to achieve those dreams, all while maintaining a focused and impactful approach. We aim to prioritize fewer initiatives,

allowing us to delve deeper into each one for greater effectiveness.

I’ve always seen my role as one where my job is to minimize some of the policies and procedures and give our ministry leaders large boundaries where they can play and do some really cool things with what they feel God calling them to do and spur them on to great things that line up with our vision.

REFLECTING ON YOUR 19 PLUS YEARS, WHAT ARE SOME OF THE MOST MEMORABLE MILESTONES THAT STAND OUT TO YOU IN TERMS OF THE CHURCH’S GROWTH AND IMPACT?

When I think about the last 19 years, there’s a common thread that’s been there and that is the idea that reaching people in Central Alberta for Christ comes more from us as individuals in the church and less from us as an organization. Dan and I have always encouraged everyone that comes to CrossRoads Church to engage with those in their life, whether it’s at work or play or school and share the love of Christ. That’s formed much of our DNA.

And then along come different things that become defining moments for us. I remember one, it was March 2005 and we had a large RCMP funeral here for one of the constables that were killed

in Mayerthorpe. We had about 3,500 people in the building and 1,100 were wearing their red Mountie coats.

That funeral sparked the idea within us that we could conduct services for those who may not know Jesus; individuals outside our church who are seeking hope. From then on, we began to embrace opportunities to provide funeral services for various members of our community. In the past 12 months alone, we have conducted 31 funerals, many of which were for individuals not affiliated with a church. This realization has been a defining moment for us, showing us that serving our community in this way is a vital means of reaching those who need Jesus.

I think another piece that changed us was Palm Sunday in 2012. We planned on baptizing 70 plus people. We do baptisms from time to time, but that Sunday after the first group was baptized, we opened it up to all who want to come forward and get baptized and probably over 130 people made that life-changing decision. It was a crazy Sunday! It was so much fun and there was so much excitement on that day. It really changed us. We started baptizing people more often. We did it in the summer, we would do it in the fall, we would continue to do it on Palm Sunday each year after and I think over a period of about a six-years we had baptized over 600 people, and it hasn’t stopped since.

Some other defining moments for us have been some of our builds. I think about the Youth Center in 2015. For 15 years they had no official spot in the church to call their own. They were using the Café, a smaller chapel, the Gym and they were using all kinds of spaces in the church. So in 2015, they finally had their own space and they’ve used it in so many ways since. It’s been really healthy for our youth ministry. I think today they’ll have anywhere from 250 to 350 youth walk through the Youth Center over the course of a week! It was a defining moment for us as a church family. Finally, over the course of almost 20 years, I’ve seen that we have good tenure on staff and the awesome things that we’ve accomplished together. It’s just absolutely outstanding! And I know that we also have amazing volunteers that have sacrificed so much, giving many hours and thought to the life of the church as well.

ELABORATE ON THE SPECIFIC INITIATIVE THAT YOU WERE INVOLVED IN TO FULFILL THE CHURCH’S VISION, BOTH LOCALLY AND GLOBALLY.

It was probably 2008 when we started having a sense of the need to impact the world differently. We were really good at reaching people for Jesus, but what we were lacking was impacting the world with compassion. And I remember going to the Global Summit and we were hearing about it there. Meanwhile our young adults took a team and they went to Kenya and they came back and said we’re missing this piece as well. We were hearing it from a lot of different directions.

As a result, the Board presented a bold question to the congregation: What if we added $500,000 annually to our budget for the next six years, exceeding 10% of our total operating budget of around $3.3 million at that time? This would fund projects strictly focused on compassion and humanitarian efforts. The congregation enthusiastically embraced this idea, and after some discussion, unanimously approved it. This decision marked a pivotal moment, altering the DNA of our church. Within a few months, we established a committee, identified three specific project areas, and pursued them with zeal. After the initial six years, it became clear that this initiative had become an integral part of our annual rhythm. We continue this commitment today, having also added a local component to our efforts.

WHAT’S THE NEXT CHAPTER LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?

I’m uncertain about what lies ahead after this season. However, one thing I’ve learned is that God always acknowledges our efforts and says, “Well done, let’s go again.” I believe He’s saying “well done” to me during this transition, even though I’m unsure of what’s next. My approach is to keep my hands open, ready to receive whatever God has in store. Whether in my vocation or ministry, I strive to excel and grow in what I do. God has consistently rewarded this attitude by entrusting me with greater responsibilities. While I can’t fathom what these might be, I remain open to His plans for me and my family.

I want to be there for what God is doing in my family and I have a feeling that is going to be really important, and maybe even a greater responsibility than what I’ve carried for the last

20 years. What’s God doing in my grandkids? What’s God doing in my kids? What’s God doing in me and my wife? I think those are good places for me to look and seek out what my part might be, and then maybe something else will come along.

Until then, my wife and I will do a little camping and a little traveling. I’ve got a motorcycle, which I’ll keep riding until I start to wobble, so I’ll be enjoying that. For a couple months out of the year we would love to plug into some mission field and just have some fun and see what we can use our gifts for in those settings. But that’s a lot of it right now, just some dreaming. We’re not sure what tomorrow looks like but we go forward knowing that God does.

LASTLY, WHAT HOPES AND DREAMS DO YOU HOLD FOR THE FUTURE OF CROSSROADS CHURCH AND ITS CONTINUED IMPACT ON THE COMMUNITY AND BEYOND?

When I think about stepping aside from my role, I have also thought about the things that I hope never change here at CrossRoads, that would continue flourishing into even more. And the most important is the idea that our church would continue to not miss out on the opportunities we have as individuals of sharing Jesus with people around us. As I said earlier, our vision will not solely happen just because Crossroads does it but rather it will happen because of the impact we can have as individuals. People come to Christ because of the work and the prayers done through each of us. So I hope that that aspect is never lost here.

And so what does it look like today to be ready for that? Don’t stop reading your

Bible, don’t stop leaning in on Jesus, because that’s how it will happen. I don’t want to be 70, 75, 80 and miss playing my part, and I don’t want anyone in the congregation to miss playing their part either. And the only way that you will get to play a part is if you spend time with God, through reading scripture and praying, so that you’ll be ready for when he asks you to play your part. I don’t think God’s done with Central Alberta—in fact I know he’ll never be done—and so I think tomorrow’s going to be a great day because our vision that He’s given us is not done. The work that Christ is doing for us here is almost just beginning. Going forward I’m going to be watching and playing wherever I can.

As summer approaches, so does the anticipation of Kids Summer Camp at CrossRoads Church. We sat down with Pastor Priscila Pascoal, the Pastor of K-6 Families. Pastor Priscila shares her insights on the profound impact of the camp, the joy it brings to young hearts, and the eternal seeds it sows within the community.

REFLECTING ON LAST YEAR’S KIDS SUMMER CAMP, WHAT WERE SOME OF THE STANDOUT MOMENTS OR HIGHLIGHTS THAT LEFT A LASTING IMPRESSION ON YOU?

For me personally, it has to be our worship and teaching times in the mornings. There’s nothing like starting the day with a room of 100+ kids worshipping Jesus. Those moments echo in my mind many times throughout the year, and I’m sure that’s what brings me back to wanting to run camps again each year.

One of my favourite stories from last summer’s camp was one parent who let us know she had never been to church before but sent her son to camp at CrossRoads. She shared how her son loved camp so much, was able to share all the things he had learned and the parents were happy that their son “brought some faith home with him”.

She expressed that even though she doesn’t have a relationship with Jesus, she wouldn’t take her son’s relationship with God away from him. This is exactly what our goal is with camp! Our prayer is that unchurched kids would go home sharing the good news of the gospel, singing worship songs and challenging their families’ beliefs by inviting them to dig deeper into a relationship with Christ.

IN WHAT WAYS DOES THE CAMP CATER TO BOTH CHILDREN FROM WITHIN CROSSROADS AND THOSE WHO MAY BE UNFAMILIAR WITH THE MESSAGE OF JESUS?

The purpose of camp is to both minister to children in the church and create outreach opportunities for kids in the broader community. This purpose is supported by a creative theme of Bible study, activities, worship while building strong relationships with leaders and other children.

We also sponsor many kids from our community, through our partnership with CrossRoads GEMS. Last year we raised over $700 to send kids to camp, and we’re hoping to raise again this year. We want to create relationships with people from our community, and we believe this is a great way to do so. Most parents need childcare during the

summer for their kids. We get to offer that for an entire week and for a very reasonable price (or even for free!). While at that, we get to show God’s love to these people through actions and words and through the teachings the kids receive during camp.

BEYOND THE FUN ACTIVITIES AND GAMES, HOW DOES THE CAMP INTENTIONALLY INCORPORATE TEACHINGS ABOUT JESUS INTO ITS PROGRAMMING?

From the moment the kids arrive at camp for the day, our goal is that they would be inundated with the love of Jesus; from the first interaction at check-in, to heading inside for the large group teaching. We will be starting each day with a time of worship and Bible teaching, followed by a time to discuss the bible story in small groups. This is so important for us—that before we get into any other activities throughout the day, we focus our minds, hearts and attention on the One who created us and loves us so much.

BUILDING FRIENDSHIPS IS OFTEN A SIGNIFICANT ASPECT OF SUMMER CAMPS. HOW DOES YOUR CAMP FACILITATE MEANINGFUL CONNECTIONS AMONG THE CHILDREN?

Kids will be placed in small groups of 10 with three or four leaders for the duration of camp, and they will stick together throughout the activities of the day. They will get to discuss the Bible story in small groups, sharing a bit of their personal experiences and asking questions. And they’ll have fun together at workshops and games, eating lunch and snacks together as well. This will promote a really tight relationship between kids and leaders and allow them to create meaningful ties with each other.

THE THEME FOR THIS YEAR’S CAMP IS “SCUBA: DIVING INTO FRIENDSHIP WITH GOD.” HOW DO YOU ENVISION THIS THEME ENHANCING THE OVERALL EXPERIENCE FOR THE KIDS?

Each year we try to make our camp a fun, engaging and visual experience. The theme this year will help do just that, engaging the biblical content through a fun aquatic theme. Each day has a “mascot” that helps us learn the big idea for the day that is connected to the Bible story.

LOOKING AHEAD TO THIS JULY, ARE THERE ANY NEW ADDITIONS THAT YOU’RE EXCITED ABOUT?

The most obvious and exciting thing about this year’s camp is that it is a full week camp—five full days. We’re excited to have more time with the kids and opportunities to create stronger relationships. Another thing we’re excited about is the Friday Family BBQ after camp when all families will be invited to join us for dinner and will get a chance to sing all the camp songs for their families, share the Bible verses they’ve learned and win prizes!

BEYOND THE WEEK OF CAMP, HOW DOES KIDS CAMP CONTRIBUTE TO ONGOING ENGAGEMENT WITH CHILDREN AND FAMILIES THROUGHOUT THE REST OF THE YEAR?

We continue to engage with these families after camp. All kids receive a handwritten card from their camp leaders right after camp, inviting them to join us on Sundays for our weekly programs, in particular the Back to School Blessing that happens on the first weekend in September. They also receive an email with “next steps’ ‘ from me and encourage parents to check out the many resources and programs provided by CrossRoads.

SUSAN, TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR BACKGROUND.

I grew up in Rimbey, Alberta, enjoying smalltown life in the 80s, and deeply involved in our church community. I particularly cherished our annual family camp experiences at Camp Harmattan, where I later met my husband, Jay. We married in 1994 and have five children: Sable (24), Sawyer (21), Sander (18), Jack (15), and Jonah (15). We love traveling together and supporting our kids in their sports and music. After graduating from university I taught in Delburne for 10 years and then transitioned to teaching online so that I could be home more with our kids.

HOW DID YOU FIRST START ATTENDING CROSSROADS, AND WHAT IS IT THAT YOU ESPECIALLY APPRECIATE ABOUT THIS CHURCH?

In 2002, we left Delburne for Red Deer, seeking a new church. Having adored the close-knit community of Delburne Gospel Church, where everyone was known, we found a similar atmosphere at First Church of the Nazarene in Red Deer, with its familiar faces and cozy feel. In 2005, we decided to give CrossRoads a try. Attending a big church was outside our comfort zone but we were drawn by its diverse programs, especially for our kids. Initially, we sat in the back, arriving late and leaving promptly after the service. Despite this, we appreciated

Susan Sampson, with the help of her CrossRoads Lifegroup, were instrumental in bringing “Praise in the Park” to Bower Ponds (Red Deer) from 2015-2019.

Pastor Dan’s teachings and the worship, which kept us returning. It took some years before we truly engaged into the church community. Today, we cherish CrossRoads for its pastors, weekly messages, dedicated worship teams, and above all, the meaningful relationships and support network it provides.

YOU (& JAY) HAVE BEEN HEAVILY INVOLVED IN GROUPS AT CROSSROADS. SHARE ABOUT HOW YOU GOT STARTED AND WHAT IT’S MEANT TO YOU.

It wasn’t until about 2012 that we began to engage in groups at CrossRoads. Despite the hectic life with five little ones, we realized our need for genuine community, though initial excuses hindered our involvement. It took a personal crisis to underscore the necessity of meaningful connections.

It can be hard to start a new group. Where do you start? Will you know anyone? Which group will be a ‘good fit? I have no doubt that the Lord had gone ahead and planned the group for us to join. A friend invited us to join their small group studying ‘Radical’ by David Platt, focusing on radical changes to wholeheartedly follow Jesus. This experience brought change and lasting friendships, proving to be just what we needed at that time.

From that first group onward, we recognized the importance of being deeply involved in Christian community. Over the years, we have been grateful for various small groups and activities, fostering deep friendships, mutual support, and spiritual growth within our church family as we share life’s joys and challenges.

YOU WERE A DRIVING FORCE BEHIND “PRAISE IN THE PARK”, WHICH WAS A HUGE SUCCESS IN RED DEER FOR SEVERAL YEARS. HOW DID THAT ALL START AND WHAT DID IT MEAN TO YOU?

“Praise in the Park” stemmed from our inspiration at ‘An Evening of Praise and Worship with the Hunter Brothers’ in 2014, ignited by their powerful testimonies and love for the Lord. Motivated by our church’s vision to reach Central Alberta, we envisioned taking worship beyond church walls. With our small group’s support, we launched “Praise in the Park” at Bower Ponds amphitheater, featuring renowned artists and local worship teams from 2015 to 2019. Throughout, God’s evident guidance manifested in numerous remarkable moments, from unexpected visitors drawn to the event to divine interventions like rainbows over the stage. The community’s embrace of “Praise in the Park” was heartening, and we hope to see its revival someday.

YOUR HEALTH HAS BEEN CHALLENGED FOR MANY YEARS. SHARE A BIT OF THAT STORY, AND HOW HAS GOD SHOWN HIMSELF THROUGH IT ALL.

In 2011, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, as a young mom to 5 kids. Thankfully it was stage one, and after surgery and chemotherapy, the chance of recurrence was slight. It was a hard year, but we got through it, or so we thought.

In 2016, following an incident on a ski hill, I learned that the thing I had been fearing the most for the last five years had come true. The breast cancer had come back with a vengeance. A tumour

Just long enough for an ultrasound and biopsy confirmed what we were dealing with. Scans revealed it was also present in a few other areas. This time it was no longer Stage One, but along with recurrence came the Stage 4 diagnosis. Incurable. Metastatic. Terminal. Ugly Words. I will never forget the look on Jay’s face when the doctor gave us this news, or how we sat in the parking lot for an hour just not knowing what to do. We decided to head to the church, where the Pastor of Hope ministries spent the next hour with us in prayer and in the Word.

That evening our living room was filled with friends who cried with us, prayed over us, and shared scripture and encouragement.

FINDING STRENGTH IN TOTAL SURRENDER TOTAL SURRENDER

Friends that had become like family from years of small groups at CrossRoads. We are so thankful for that very special community. The years since then have been filled with continuous cancer treatments in one form or another, frequent tests, procedures and homecare. Cancer has become a very normal part of our lives.

Every couple of months I need to have another scan. These periods of scans and waiting for results can be some of the hardest. But, the scans have continued to lead me closer and closer to Jesus. Not because I’m all of a sudden super spiritual, but because I’m desperate for Him in a way I’ve never been before. He has opened my eyes every day—through scripture, through the words of others, through prayer, through His unexplainable peace. He leads and strengthens. And though cancer is most bitter, there is a sweetness in this closeness to Jesus. It is not the silver lining, it is the very gold.

I have never been afraid of dying. Well, maybe I shouldn’t say ‘never’. I am sure there were times over the years that this fear snuck in. My biggest fears were always for my kids, and the grief and hardship that they would go through growing up without a mom. That was where the enemy could bring me down and whisper his hurtful lies.

The Lord has reminded me many times that my kids are in fact His, and He will take care of them. He will watch closely over them and that I have nothing to fear. Surrendering them to the Lord has brought freedom from that fear most days.

Last summer I had the privilege of watching our four boys be baptized. What joy that brought, knowing that they have made the decision to follow Jesus. They will be okay. Jesus is all that they need and because of that, there is nothing to fear.

My oncologist has given grim prognosis a few times over the years. We have reminded him that it is God who numbers our days and we are trusting that I will not live one day less than the Lord ordains. The Lord has gifted me with this time, far surpassing what the doctors thought was possible. That is our miracle. I have been able to be here for our kids growing into teenagers and young adults, some very important years. For that, I am incredibly thankful. Thankful for His mercy on my life.

The Lord has taught me many things through these years of living with cancer. I understand what it means to fully surrender to the Lord. When I’ve got absolutely nothing left, or nothing to give, it’s all Him. It took me a while to really get it. So many years I spent organizing and planning and keeping everything under control. Until I couldn’t anymore. There was nothing I could do to control or change the situation.

I have experienced what it looks like to ‘fear not’, although I wish I could say that I have permanently conquered all fears. It is a continual surrendering of those fears to the Lord.

I know intimately the importance of spending time in His word and hiding it in my heart. Time in the Word has brought such incredible peace, strength, and wisdom.

I have experienced and treasure the power of worship. The closeness to Him through praise and worship. And we have experienced and witnessed the power of prayer. Many times over the years we have asked for prayer for specific needs or concerns, and have been overwhelmed with His love in how He has answered.

I have felt His strength. Time and again He has given us the strength we need in the exact moment we need it. There have been so many moments that I am not sure how I was able to take one step forward, or even to breathe. But, He has always provided the strength needed for that moment, and I am confident will continue to do so, no matter how hard the road ahead may be. That unexplainable strength and peace.

I am so thankful for all He has taught me through this horrible disease that I never would have wanted. There have been so many days and moments of great joy. A joy that may even be greater by knowing pain. I live with great expectation, confident that the best really is yet to come.

Before Christmas, I was told that I had weeks to months left to live based on significant progression of disease. Again, we put our faith and trust in the Lord, trusting in His sovereign will. These days are gifts and I do not want to waste them, but use them in ways

that would be pleasing to Him. I have no idea how many days God will give me but over and over again, He reassures me His timing is perfect.

WHAT BIBLE VERSES ARE ESPECIALLY MEANINGFUL TO YOU, AND WHY?

There are quite a few that have been meaningful to me over the years but here’s a few that have helped me throughout my journey. I hold tight to the belief that even in the toughest times, God is at work, turning every challenge into something good. So many times, I’ve witnessed prayers answered in ways far beyond what I imagined possible. And when fear threatens to overwhelm me, I find strength in the reminder that God is with me, holding me up with His righteous hand.

Romans 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose. Ephesians 3:20

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.

Isaiah 41:10

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE?

I am so thankful for my husband in this cancer journey; who, in these past challenging years has been there, right by my side, through the highs and the lows. And there have been many of both. Celebrating the victories. Sharing the tears. Holding on to me. Somedays, even physically holding me up. When I’ve felt things spinning out of control, he’s been there to keep things in control. Holding me tight in the storm. Holding my hand through the sadness. And, maybe most importantly, holding me accountable to God’s Truth.

When the doctor stepped in the room to say those awful words, Jay’s arms were the first arms to embrace me.

When God joined our hands together 30 years ago, He knew this crazy dance ahead and He knew Jay would hold on tight to me and love me as Christ loves.

We often find ourselves trying to meet deadlines, manage relationships, and navigate everything that life throws our way. In the midst of it all, it can be difficult to pause and reflect on God’s blessings and provision and what He’s called us to.

It’s about living out our faith in practical, everyday ways that demonstrate our trust in God’s faithfulness and our willingness to step

One of the foundational Christian principles that guides us in this journey is the importance of gathering regularly to worship and do life together. It’s about being part of a community of believers who love God and encourage one another. It’s about celebrating each other’s victories and bearing each other’s burdens. It’s about being the hands and feet of Jesus to those around us, showing His love in tangible ways.

As we embrace this way of life, we begin to see God’s blessings in the everyday moments. We see His provision in the smile of a friend, the laughter of

a child, and the beauty of creation. We learn to trust Him more deeply, knowing that He is always with us, guiding us, and providing for us.

Another key aspect of our Christian walk is serving our church and the community that we’re a part of. Jesus taught us to love our neighbours as ourselves, and one of the most powerful ways we can do this is by serving others. Whether it’s volunteering at a local shelter, helping a neighbour in need, or serving in one of our church ministries, every act of service is an opportunity to demonstrate God’s love to those around us.

Daily prayer and reading the Bible are also essential components of our Christian walk. Through prayer, we communicate with God, sharing our joys, fears, and needs with Him. Reading the Bible allows us to hear from God, gaining wisdom and guidance for our lives. These practices help us stay connected to God’s heart and His will for our lives.

Generosity is another spiritual discipline of living out our faith. God has blessed us with time, talents, and

resources, and He calls us to be good stewards of these blessings. Whether it’s giving financially to support our church and ministries or the giving of our time to serve others, generosity is a reflection of our trust in God’s provision and our desire to bless others as we have been blessed.

Trusting God to provide for our needs is a journey of faith that requires us to step out of our comfort zones and rely on His faithfulness. It’s about recognizing that God is the source of all good things and that He will never leave us or forsake us. As we embrace this mindset, we can live with a sense of peace and confidence, knowing that God is always with us, guiding us, and providing for us.

So, let us embrace the calling to attempt more for God and expect more from Him in our lives. Let us live out our faith in practical ways, trusting in His provision and be ready to bless others. Together, as a community of believers, we can impact the world for God’s kingdom, one act of faith at a time.

One day, a widow was driving by the church and the Lord prompted her to stop by because she was feeling hopeless. She came into our office and opened up about what she was going through since losing her husband and how her life was blowing up. Through this interaction and some personal connections here on our staff, she had the courage to start coming to church and connected into our widows support group. The Lord knew she needed to come here and know she’s part of a community that she didn’t know she needed.

Jeremy joined the worship team in late 2011 and faithfully attended our Thursday evening gatherings. After 6.5 years of service, Jeremy began co-leading with us and finally, in 2021, Jeremy became a full-fledged, CrossRoads worship leader! Many of you know how tirelessly he served, how transparently he shared, and how passionately he worshipped! In late 2023, the Regehrs’ Family felt the call to help lead the worship at a different small church. They shared about the many ups and downs of their time here and how it has grown not just their musical and leading skills, but also made new connections and helped grow their faith! Now God is using them to spread His love in another community here in Central Alberta.

A LIFE CHANGING ENCOUNTER

I used to come to church and I was the one that was sitting down during worship, and everybody else was singing. I thought everybody was crazy. I came to church to support my family. My family encouraged me to come to Alpha, and I declined quite a few invitations because I thought it wasn’t for me. Listening to Pastor Dan speak about saving whole families, it was like the service was curated to me. I took home a Bible that day, and thought all right, I’m gonna give Alpha a shot. If it wasn’t for that comfortable, safe, environment to ask those questions, I don’t know if I would’ve opened my heart to have the Holy Spirit pour into me. Now I’ve got this joy that I’ve never had before and my way of thinking is completely different. Now I know that I’ve never been more welcomed and more accepted than with Jesus. If there’s other people that have someone in their life asking “Why Jesus?”, we need to be able to provide that safe place for them to come ask those questions. It’s life changing.

In Senior High Youth, we covered difficult topics surrounding God, identity, family, and mental health, which has led to meaningful conversations in our small groups. We have witnessed how our supportive culture (within students and leaders) has helped youth feel safer and become more vulnerable. For some, this has led to more authentic relationships and deeper spiritual growth. For others, it has sparked the courage for them to share their testimony with the entire youth group!

Parent engagement with our youth has increased significantly. One parent said, “I really appreciate how much you and the leaders encourage growth, even on the tough topics… It’s good for them to hear and it gives them more confidence to be stronger in their faith. It’s definitely been encouraging!”

As we navigate through a season of transition, marked by new challenges and opportunities, the need for diverse perspectives and shared responsibilities has never been more apparent. With this in mind, the decision to expand the Lead Team was made, welcoming fresh voices to the table to enrich our collective wisdom and propel us into the future.

Enter Kendra Berniko and Jordan Cavanaugh, two individuals whose dedication, insight, and passion for vision and community have already left an indelible mark on CrossRoads. While their journeys to this point have been distinct, their shared commitment to serving our congregation and fostering a spirit of belonging is palpable in everything they do.

GUIDING WITH WISDOM & INSIGHT

Kendra’s journey with CrossRoads began as the event coordinator then on to becoming the Director of Operations. As the church grew so did her responsibilities, bringing with her a wealth of wisdom and insight. Taking a break to raise her family she continued to volunteer on the finance committee. Kendra returned four years ago as the Director of Finance and HR, equipped with a Bachelor’s Degree in Management and currently working on her professional designation in Human Resources. Kendra’s meticulous attention to detail and thoughtful deliberation have been instrumental in ensuring the fiscal health of our church while upholding the highest standards of integrity.

“I started my journey at CrossRoads in 2007, and it’s been an incredible experi-

ence ever since,” Kendra reflects. “Over the years in my different roles I was able to see everything from operations to how the different ministries functioned. Now my current role involves financial management, ministry budgeting and HR functions and staff development. Some of it is definitely more behindthe-scenes but I find it all incredibly fulfilling. And I get to watch how God uses our finances and the faithful giving of the congregation to do the work He’s called us to.”

As a new member of the Lead Team, Kendra brings a unique perspective to the table, balancing operational insights with prayerful consideration. “The Lead Team is all about listening to God, collaboration, and fulfilling a shared vision,” she says. “We each have our

strengths and areas of expertise, and together, we work towards a common goal.” Recognizing the learning curve in her new role, Kendra values the guidance from Pastor Dan and Pastor Jordan to better understand the guiding principles and governance policies.

Kendra is excited about the possibilities that lie ahead for CrossRoads Church.

“We have such an exciting vision and while we’re living in a season of transition, I believe that with faith and determination, we can overcome any challenges,” she says. “I’m honoured that I was invited to be part of this team and I’m grateful to play a part in what God is doing through this vibrant and dynamic church community.”

For Jordan Cavanaugh, Pastor of Community Life, CrossRoads is more than just a church – it’s a place where lives are transformed and connections are made. Since joining the CrossRoads family in 2008, Jordan has been passionate about nurturing community and fostering innovation. His roles here at CrossRoads have also included Pastor of Senior High Ministries, Department Head of Student Ministries, and Pastor of K-6 Families.

“My journey at CrossRoads has been nothing short of amazing,” Jordan reflects. “From my early days to my current role on the Lead Team, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the impact of our church on people’s lives.”

Jordan’s transition from Student Ministries to Kids Ministry to Community Life seamlessly integrates his passion for fostering community and spiritual

growth. With warmth, compassion, and a genuine desire to connect people, Jordan’s leadership is marked by a commitment to making everyone feel welcome.

“I’ve always believed in the power of community,” he shares. Whether hosting Bible studies or organizing events, his goal remains creating spaces for people to gather and grow in faith. In his role, Jordan spearheads innovative initiatives aimed at facilitating connection and growth within the congregation, from diverse interest groups to engaging programs. His leadership enriches the CrossRoads community, fostering deeper connections and empowering individuals in their spiritual journey.

Now, as a member of the Lead Team, Jordan brings his experience and passion for community building to CrossRoads’ strategic initiatives. Reflecting on the leadership of Pastor Dan and Pastor

Jordan, he acknowledges the mentorship received, which has helped him understand the church’s direction. On the Lead Team, Jordan participates in helping to shape the future of CrossRoads and ensure it remains true to the vision that we are called to. He also guides other ministry leaders and pastors in planning effectively for their areas. “The Lead Team is passionate about our mission,” he shares, “and we’re always brainstorming new ideas to engage our community.” Jordan’s leadership fosters innovation and connection within CrossRoads.”

For Jordan, the future of CrossRoads is bright, filled with endless possibilities for growth and transformation. “I’m excited to see where this journey takes us,” he says. “With God’s guidance and the support of our community, I believe that we can accomplish great things together.”

INTRODUCING WORLD RELIEF RWANDA’S NEW DIRECTOR:

CLEMENCE NKULIKIYINKA

Clemence Nkulikiyinka, the newly appointed Country Director for World Relief Rwanda, is a stunning, well-dressed, and highly articulate Rwandan. She has a family that extends beyond traditional lines but closely follows those of her own country. She is passionate and clear in her purpose, following Jesus where He leads her.

In Africa, names are important; they not only tell a story but also have the capacity to shape a person. Culturally, “inka” means cow, and “nkuliki” means to chase or to follow. When Clemence’s father was born, her grandfather took this name because although he had a child at home, he was away serving the king, with the reward being a cow. While we may not see cows as great treasures, in Rwanda, having a cow was indeed a valuable treasure worth pursuing. Just as Clemence’s grandfather served the king for great

treasure, Clemence also serves the King for great treasure, hers being stored up for her in heaven.

Much like Esther in the Bible, Clemence was blessed from birth; she was raised in an urban home that valued education for both boys and girls. She had a Catholic background with a strong social ministry; her heart of compassion and empathy was nurtured by her mother and the church. Although her heart was for people, there were limited educational options for Clemence, so she found herself with a scholarship to study Business Administration first at a Bachelor’s and then, much later, at a Master’s level.

Through travel, Clemence was exposed to different cultures, and her heart for her people began to burn for the social injustices in Rwanda: the gender inequalities, the multifaceted causes of poverty, and the widespread damage and loss caused by the genocide. She

sought to understand her own gifts and calling, seeking a path where she could give back and make a difference.

As a young adult, Clemence joined a church that was unstructured; if you had an innovative idea, you were encouraged to come up with the initiatives to bring it to life. The questions running through her mind were: How do I serve these people? Who is being overlooked in the community? Who is advocating for the vulnerable?

Clemence started by connecting with the women in her church. There was much information and many resources available in English, but the majority of the women in her church, young and old, were unable to read English. Through translating, Clemence started to run sessions and meet oneon-one to teach about self-esteem, mental health, self-awareness, and future planning. Mentoring young women remains a passion; even today, Clemence intentionally creates time and space to help girls whose lives are not making sense to them, whether due to various family disadvantages, loss of parents, lack of education, or other challenges.

Fresh out of university, Clemence was sent to a rural area where she was shocked to find that over 60% of the people did not know how to read or write. Again, her mind told her that government strategies should be enabling all people to grow and develop, but her heart told her that this was not happening. From 2005, Clemence prayed for an opportunity where she could work with people. From that prayer, Clemence began with World Relief in 2008 as Executive Assistant to the Director of Programs. This was a steep learning curve, always leaving the office late, learning about economic development, and more, but it brought such joy for serving – she was home! God directed her presence in World Relief; some positions were created just for her, while other moves came from a hiree not taking up a position and Clemence being brought in “temporarily” only to stay and make it her own, such as the appointment to Director of Programs. In time, Clemence transitioned to a home office role as Integral Mission Technical Advisor. Clemence has been at the heart of many important initiatives, including the development and implementation of Church Empowerment Zones,

Outreach Groups Initiative (OGI), and supporting country teams in planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of those initiatives.

The outreach ministries are very close to Clemence’s heart; here she sees ordinary people in the community acting as catalysts for sustainable change and transformation. “To see people who have struggled for years with poverty and social challenges achieving tremendous transformation within a year of working with OGI – for me, this is great.”

Clemence became Country Director through prayer; her drive for excellence meant that she would be bringing to the position more than just HR and finance management; it would be challenging. She remembers telling God that ‘if this is not Your thing, then I am not interested because I do not want to spend so many hours in the office.’

Her surprise at being offered the position came out as “didn’t you find someone else?”! MELLANIE FROM BROKENNESS TO BLESSING

MY JOURNEY OF REDEMPTION

In the tapestry of my life, there were threads of sorrow woven deeply into the fabric. From a young age, I carried the heavy burden of feeling unloved and unworthy. It colored every aspect of my existence, shaping my relationships and distorting my perception of self-worth. But little did I know that God’s hand was upon me even then, gently guiding me toward a love that would transcend my earthly struggles.

I remember lying on the grass as a child, gazing up at the vast expanse of the sky and wondering about heaven. In those moments of innocence, I felt a stirring in my soul—a longing for something greater than myself. Yet as I grew older, that sense of wonder was overshadowed by the harsh realities of life. The brokenness of my parent’s marriage gave me a false sense of what love truly is. As a child, growing up in a dysfunctional home, I was always seeking to feel loved, good enough, and worthy of attention. There was an unrealistic ideal of what connection and love should look like, and I spent my formative years desperately seeking validation from those around me.

My search for love led me down a path fraught with heartache and disappointment. In my relationships, I constantly felt like I had to earn the affection of others, never truly believing that I was worthy of love just as I was. This belief followed me into my marriage, where I found

myself constantly trying to please my husband to feel validated and loved. And each time it was met with indifference and many times, neglect.

But in the midst of my brokenness, God was working behind the scenes, orchestrating divine encounters that would lead me back to Him. One of those encounters was with a friend who introduced me to the love of Jesus Christ. For the first time in my life, I encountered a love that was pure, unconditional, and freely given—a love that I didn’t have to earn.

As I surrendered my heart to Jesus, I felt the weight of my past burdens lift off my shoulders. I realized that I was not defined by my past mistakes or the opinions of others. I was a beloved child of God, chosen and cherished beyond measure. And as I embraced this truth, I began to experience a newfound sense of freedom and joy.

During my redemption journey, I went to a few different churches. One of them being CrossRoads Church - of which I have been a part of for the past 18 years. At each church I engaged in, I found a community of believers who embraced me as I was and walked alongside me on my spiritual journey. One church introduced me to the Alpha course where I learned about the basics of Christianity and how to become a follower of Christ. Later I discovered the Foundations course at CrossRoads, which deepened my understanding of God’s Word and helped me grow in my faith.

Plugging into the life of the church after so many years of feeling disconnected was both daunting and exhilarating. I was met with open arms and genuine acceptance, and for the first time, I felt like I belonged. Being part of the church family at CrossRoads was like discovering a long-lost treasure—a community where I could worship, learn, and grow alongside others who shared my faith.

The Alpha and Foundations courses were instrumental in deepening my understanding of Scripture and equipping me to live out my faith in practical ways. Through these courses, I learned valuable lessons about prayer, discipleship, and the importance of community.

And as I applied these principles to my life, I began to experience a transformation from the inside out. I’m continuing to grow my faith and find support with other Christ followers through the Deep Discipleship group.

Today, I am privileged to serve within the church, using my gifts and talents to help disciple others in their own faith journeys. It’s a humbling experience to see how God can use even the broken pieces of our lives to bring healing and hope to others. And as I walk alongside my brothers and sisters in Christ, I am reminded of the power of community to uplift, encourage, and strengthen one another.

My involvement in CrossRoads Church has not only enriched my own spiritual walk but has also allowed me to be a conduit of God’s grace to those around me. Whether it’s through serving in a small group or simply offering a listening ear to someone in need, I am continually amazed by the ways in which God can use ordinary people like me to accomplish His extraordinary purposes.

Today, I stand in awe of the work that God has done in my life. Through it all, God’s hand was evident in every twist and turn of my story. He had been with me from the very beginning, guiding me toward a love that would never fail me. And as I surrendered my life to Him completely, He began to rewrite my story, transforming my brokenness into blessing and my pain into purpose. He has taken the shattered pieces of my past and woven them into a beautiful tapestry of redemption and grace.

My scars are now a testament to His faithfulness, and my struggles are a reminder of His strength.

But my story is not just about me— it’s about the different lives that have been touched by God’s grace through my testimony. It’s about the women who see themselves in my story and find hope for their own journeys. It’s about the power of God to redeem and restore, to turn mourning into dancing and ashes into beauty.

As I look back on my journey, I am filled with gratitude for the transformation that God has brought in my life. He has given

me a new purpose—to shine His light in the darkest corners of the world and to point others to the hope that can only be found in Him. And though the road ahead may be uncertain, I walk forward with confidence, knowing that He who began a good work in me will carry it to completion.

In the end, my story is a testament to the unfailing love and faithfulness of God. It’s a story of brokenness being transformed into blessing, of despair being replaced by hope, and of death being swallowed up in victory. And as long as there is breath in my lungs, I will continue to proclaim the goodness of the Lord and testify to His grace.

If you’re reading this and struggling with knowing your own worth and not feeling loved please remember these truths from the Bible. God loves you and He has a plan for you (Jer. 29:11). He knew you before you were born. He loves you SO much that He sent His son, Jesus, to die for yours and my sins! He will forgive you if you ask. And He will be with you to help guide and navigate you through life! You just need to trust and believe in Him and when you do He will give you the gift of eternal life because He is faithful, full of grace and mercy.

RALALBERTA YOUTHUNLIM

SARAH LAHUCIK IS ONE OF THE LOCAL WORKERS THAT CROSSROADS SUPPORTS. SARAH WORKS THROUGH CENTRAL ALBERTA YOUTH UNLIMITED (CAYU) AMONG THE YOUTH OF MASKWACIS.

Sarah has a heart to disciple and nurture First Nations youth by offering them relational stability and the hope of Jesus. Sarah and her team strive to model Christian values and walk with the kids of Maskwacis as they transition from youth to adulthood. Sarah provided these updates from the recent months.

our group to Home Church Youth Conference in Red Deer and God met our kids there in a huge way!! Here are a few of the things we heard over the weekend:

• “I’ve been feeling stuck. Like I stepped in cement. But this weekend God helped me. It was like He chipped away the cement.”

• “I’ve just been feeling so depressed and sad lately, but I feel like this weekend God is bringing me out of it. He showed me that He is the missing piece.”

• “I love it here. I feel safe with you guys.”

• “I’m so happy my brother got to come here with me. I wanna show my siblings that there’s more than just alcohol and drug addiction... I wanna lead them to the Lord.”

Meeting together each week is such a blessing. I love seeing how much depth our Life 360 kids have in the Lord. They may not have language for it yet but we can see that the Holy Spirit is revealing the Father to them. They know Him deeply!! - Emma Ministry has been growing exponentially! Youth in the community are hearing about what is happening and want to come be a part of it and more of our kids are bringing friends and siblings each week… Which means we are needing to increase our capacity. Please pray for Emma as she

is still in the process of fundraising and she is so eager to dive into ministry fully! Please also pray for our team as we look for new ways to tackle transportation. We want to make our programs accessible for all youth in our community which usually looks like offering rides…

We had a New Years party at the church because we really wanted to have a safe place for the kids to come and have fun without all of the other influences that often come along with that. Driving the youth home that night they all talked about how much fun it was. One of the youth even said “that was the best New Years I have ever had, and I wasn’t even drinking.” Sounds odd but it’s a big win that they are recognizing there is a different way to live. - Sarah

We hosted a bible study at Timber in January and we picked up lots of kids! Other kids from Ponoka showed up and joined in too, and we had to pull a few tables together for everyone to have room. It’s a cool picture that reminds us that Jesus invites all of us to His table, and it’s so fun and cool that we get to walk with these kids and teach them about Jesus! We’ve given out loads of new bibles to teens this month at Life 360 and have been reading the word lots in our lessons & bible studies! - Paige

MARRIAGE BUILDING A ON FAITH FROM FIRST DATE TO FOREVER

MELISSA & KYLE PERON PROVIDE SOME INSIGHT ON MARRIAGE, AND HOW THEIR FAITH IS A BEACON OF HOPE AND ENCOURAGEMENT.

Marriage is often described as a journey filled with ups and downs, joys, and challenges. For Melissa and Kyle Peron, their six-year marriage has been a testament to the power of faith, communication, and partnership. Attendees of CrossRoads Church, Melissa and Kyle come from different faith backgrounds, but their shared commitment to God has been the cornerstone of their relationship.

Their love story began at Hudson’s restaurant in Red Deer, where Kyle, out with coworkers, met Melissa and struck up a conversation. Initially unsure of each other’s relationship status, their connection blossomed over shared interests and values. Kyle, having grown up Catholic, and Melissa, in the Lutheran church until her teen years, found common ground in their faith despite their differing backgrounds.

Reflecting on their journey leading up to marriage, Kyle recalls a period of growth and support as they navigated early careers and personal goals. Melissa, who had been single for a long time before meeting Kyle, found his unwavering support during her pursuit of a professional golf license to be a defining moment in their relationship.

“Our first date was memorable,” Kyle recalls with a chuckle. “I thought Melissa wasn’t interested in dating. But when she reached out on social media afterward, I knew I had a chance.”

Melissa adds, “I never had a serious boyfriend before Kyle. I was always upfront about my Christian values, and he respected that from the beginning.”

Their decision to get married came after 11 months of dating, a whirlwind engagement, and a deep understanding

of each other’s beliefs and aspirations. Recognizing the importance of laying a strong foundation for their marriage they attended premarital sessions and a marriage course through Kyle’s previous church.

“Communication was key for us, especially during our engagement,” Kyle reflects. “We had to navigate the differences in our faith backgrounds and set common goals for our future.”

“Kyle’s support during my journey to get my golf license meant a lot to me,” Melissa shares. “It showed me that he was serious about our relationship and willing to invest in our future together.”

Faith has played a central role in Melissa and Kyle’s approach to marriage, guiding their decisions and fostering unity amidst life’s busyness. Kyle’s journey to deepen his faith and Melissa’s steadfast commitment to hers have created a tapestry of shared values and principles that anchor their marriage.

“Our faith is the foundation of our marriage,” Kyle emphasizes. “It’s what keeps us grounded and helps us navigate the challenges we face as a couple.”

Melissa adds, “Prayer has been so important, especially during difficult times, and we’ve definitely had those times. We’ve learned to lean on God and each other for strength and guidance.”

Their commitment to prayer extends beyond just personal moments; it’s woven into the fabric of their family life.

“We’ve made it a habit to pray together, starting with simple prayers before meals,” Kyle explains. “It’s a small but meaningful way to invite God into our daily routine and remind ourselves of His presence in our lives.”

Melissa nods in agreement, adding, “And it’s not just about praying as a couple. We involve our children in prayer too. Our oldest, Harper, actually initiated praying before meals, and it’s become a cherished family tradition. It’s heartwarming to see how our faith is becoming a part of their lives from such a young age.”

For Kyle and Melissa, church isn’t just a Sunday obligation; it’s a source of spiritual nourishment and community. “We genuinely enjoy going to church as a family,” Kyle shares. “It’s a time for us to come together, worship, and connect with others who share our beliefs. It sets

a positive tone for the week ahead and reminds us of what truly matters.”

“The messages we hear at church aren’t just words; they’re principles we strive to apply in our marriage and family life. For instance, the need for me to love Melissa as Christ loved the church. That’s a powerful concept, and I actively work on living it out in our relationship.”

Their shared commitment to spiritual growth and applying biblical principles has deepened their bond as a couple and strengthened their family unit. “We’re far from perfect, but our faith helps us navigate life’s ups and downs,” Kyle reflects. “And knowing that we’re in this together, hand in hand with God, is a great feeling.”

“TOGETHER, WITH GOD AT THE CENTER, YOU CAN OVERCOME ANY OBSTACLE AND BUILD A MARRIAGE THAT LASTS A LIFETIME.”

Melissa smiles warmly, adding, “Our faith isn’t just something we practice; it’s who we are. It shapes how we love, how we parent, and how we face the future together. And for that, we’re incredibly thankful.”

Communication, they emphasize, is imperative to their relationship. In a world filled with distractions and demands, making time for open dialogue has been essential.

“It’s easy to get lost in the busyness of life,” Melissa acknowledges. “But we make it a priority to check in with each other regularly and discuss our thoughts, feelings, and concerns.”

Their involvement in the church community has provided them with invaluable support and encouragement.

“Our church family has been a source of strength and encouragement for us,”

Kyle shares. “Even during the challenges of the pandemic, we found ways to stay connected and supported by those in the church.”

Parenting two young children has added a new dimension to their marriage, requiring patience, compromise, and unwavering commitment to ensure their children grow in a faith filled home.

“Our kids are a blessing, but they also require a lot of time and energy,” Melissa admits. “We’ve had to learn to juggle parenthood with our careers, but our faith has helped us stay grounded and focused on what truly matters.”

Their marriage, characterized by communication, compromise, and endurance, is a testament to the power of faith and partnership.

“In marriage, you have to be willing to give and take,” Kyle reflects. “I love to set goals and drive forward. But it’s also about putting your spouse’s needs before your own and working together towards common goals.”

Melissa adds, “It’s not always easy, but when you have faith, you can weather any storm together.”

As they reflect on their marriage journey, Melissa and Kyle offer words of wisdom to newlywed couples: “Work hard, love each other, pray often, and never stop communicating. Together, with God at the center, you can overcome any obstacle and build a marriage that lasts a lifetime.”
