HELP US RESTORE OUR COMMUNITY! Crossover Bible Church started Crossover Community Impact (CCI) in 2011 to be a force for restoration in North Tulsa! We love our community and believe that God has called us to be a part of helping North Tulsa thrive.

Through quality programs that have enabled us to build relationships within our community, we have made great strides in the areas of education, youth sports, leadership development, healthcare, and housing.

Building a community center in the heart of our community will play a vital role in seeing our dream of a better North Tulsa become a reality.

THE NEED FOR A COMMUNITY CENTER The public outcry in North Tulsa against the closing of community centers has been unanimous and hard to miss.

This follows from the widespread understanding that youth and young adults need safe, positive spaces to engage in healthy activities outside of school and work.

Safety for our youth is a legitimate concern given that the violent crime rate in North Tulsa is 3.5 times the city average. Moreover, with a median household income of $22,639, families find it difficult to provide activities for their children that families in other areas of Tulsa can easily provide. Add to that the reality that 72.3% of our homes with youth are single parent households, and it is obvious why our community is calling for a community center and positive programming for our youth.

CROSSOVER SPORTS ASSOCIATION Since 2012, CCI has been addressing the need for positive extracurricular activities for youth through sports. We offer a variety of sports, and the parents that put kids in our football, cheerleading, basketball, baseball, and track and field programs tell us they appreciate our organization because the coaches care about their kids and don’t curse at them.

However, our current lack of gym space means our basketball program is at capacity with six teams. We could triple the number of elementary age kids we reach through our basketball teams with the community center! And with two full sized basketball courts we could also run recreational basketball and volleyball leagues for the teens and adults in our community.

Youth sports have provided CCI a tremendous amount of access into families’ lives within our community.

STREETLEADERS and IMPACT KIDS CCI started the StreetLeader Program to respond to the need for youth jobs in the community; StreetLeaders work as tutors of the students in the IMPACT Kids After School Program and Summer Day Camp.

StreetLeaders are equipped with job training and supported academically.

The StreetLeader and IMPACT Kids Programs operate at Hawthorne Elementary School and have been at capacity the last five years. Crossover Community Center will be a short, safe walk for upper elementary grade students at Hawthorne. This will enable IMPACT Kids to expand up to 300% (up to 180 kids)!

Additionally, the community center will provide access to library and computer resources we do not currently have, which will significantly bolster our Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), reading programs, and tutoring of high school students. crossoverimpact.org

CROSSOVER HEALTH SERVICES Crossover Health Services (CHS) began in 2014 to provide quality health care in our medically underserved community.

CHS is uniquely positioned to address the doctor shortage with doctors not only committed to working in North Tulsa, but with doctors committed to living there too! CHS provides routine care for adults and children with an emphasis on preventive medicine and wholistic care, including behavioral health.

Having the Crossover Community Center next door to CHS will play an integral role in CHS impacting our community’s health. Access to a state of the art workout facility will allow for the addition of physical therapy and post-surgical rehabilitation services, a full scale commercial kitchen will play host to healthy cooking classes, and classroom space will be utilized for group counseling sessions and parenting courses. crossoverhealthservices.org

CROSSOVER DEVELOPMENT COMPANY Crossover Development Company (CDC) commenced to help revitalize the over 30 boarded up houses in the Hawthorne neighborhood. By God’s grace since 2015, CDC has spurred development in the neighborhood and seen the number of boarded up houses significantly reduced.

In the past three years, CDC finished its first six remodeled homes and first new construction home!

CDC’s housing projects help families own their own homes as well as address the need for housing for mission-minded families who wish to relocate to our community.

Crossover Community Center will provide a central hub for CDC’s Homeownership Program meetings and classes as well as an important amenity for the people we are encouraging to relocate or remain in the community.

CROSSOVER PREPARATORY ACADEMY Community centers are often underutilized during business and school hours.

We will maximize the utilization of the Crossover Community Center by making it the home of Crossover Preparatory Academy (CPA). CPA is an all-boy 7th-12th grade private school focused on developing leaders in our community by equipping boys academically and spiritually.

According to the 2015 National Center of Education Statistics, African-American males have the lowest four-year college graduation rate in the country. Achieving a bachelor’s degree is one of the strongest predictors of economic stability and currently in our community 19.8% of all adults never receive a high school diploma while only 15.3% of residents hold a bachelor’s or advanced college degree. CPA will aim not only to prepare young men for college, but also to impart in them a love for God and love for our community that will motivate them to return to be leaders in North Tulsa when they complete their studies. crossoverprep.org

CROSSOVER BIBLE CHURCH The Crossover Community Center will provide Crossover Bible Church (CBC) with a permanent home to conduct its Sunday morning worship services. CBC has always preferred the idea of meeting in a community center instead of a traditional church building because it utilizes the space better and maximizes the resources it takes to build a facility.

Most traditional church buildings are used primarily on Sunday mornings and one night a week. Through the various programs that CCI will offer, community members will utilize Crossover Community Center every day of the week. Moreover, because many of the people utilizing the center would not normally go to a church building, the community center enhances CBC’s access to the lives of people in our community. crossoverbible.org
