Award win was well deserved by Colleen

A WOMAN who has dedicated more than 30 years of her life caring for residents in a care home has won an award.

Colleen Wilson, originally from Swinton and now living in Darfield, has worked at Thornhill House since 1989.

In November, Colleen received recognition from Harpreet Banwait from Strong Life Care – which operates the home – who described her as a ‘credit and inspiration to the care home’.

Colleen was named the winner at the 2023 Social Stars competition – which was held at London Marriott Hotel last Saturday – winning the ‘joy maker’ award.

The award recognises a special individual who spreads joy and happiness amongst their colleagues and residents.

A Thornhill House spokesperson said: “Colleen is a true inspiration – a credit to us.

“She’s such a caring and joyful person who fills the home with love and laughter.

“On behalf of all the staff and residents, we are very proud.”
