Happiness at Work Week

A PATH TO THE PURSUIT, BEGINNING INSIDE INTERNATIONAL WEEK OF HAPPINESS AT WORK 20 to 24 September 2021

A TRADITION CALLED HAPPINESS AT WORK WEEK At Critical TechWorks, the importance of happiness in our everyday lives, especially at our job, is something we take very seriously, even more so in the aftermath of a wearying pandemic.

Because we spend much time involved in our work, it’s a “second home” that almost feels like the first, and that is one of the reasons why we

believe it’s so important to celebrate the International Week of Happiness at Work, a tradition that we’ve been following since CTW’s foundation.

This year, from 20 to 24 September, we’re celebrating with activities that remind our teams of the importance of seizing the journey and finding joy every step of the way.

HAPPINESS IS A CHOICE, SOMETHING EVERY ONE OF US CAN ACHIEVE Like our Happiness Director, Madalena Marinho, puts it, the idea is to “create awareness about the fact that happiness is a choice, something every one of us can achieve” so, this

time, the theme could only be happiness – “it’s an inside job”.

As a result of not having an On/Off button, happiness and well-being require daily attention and effort.

Since we live in multiple contexts that involve others, while thinking about what we can do to improve ourselves, three important layers must come to mind: As an individual, As a team, And as a company within a broader context - society.

This means we should always ask ourselves three major questions: “How can I improve my relationships with colleagues, friends and family?”

“How can I continue to learn and grow, expanding my skills?”

“How can I maximize my impact on the lives of others?”

By knowing our values, exploring our strengths, and identifying our purposes, we establish essential “building blocks” and create self-awareness mechanisms within ourselves. And if we also learn how to handle conflicts, manage expectations, and develop trust, then we’ll definitively be on the right track to becoming better individuals, professionals, and community members.

HAPPINESS IS RIGHT HERE. Internal drivers are crucial – no doubt about that. But what about tools that we can all share to improve as a group?

Spread the word and find new ways to achieve balance in each sphere of our lives. This week, we’ve been exploring all sorts of activities, workshops, and webinars with our teams to imprint an important “mantra” in our memories: the path to happiness is a choice.
