FALL 2018/ WINTER 2019
THE WORKS OF CRISTO REY Each day, Cristo Rey students and alumni are living our mission as they become men and women for others through academics, work study, and faith.
This school year, 179 Cristo Rey students - about 30 percent of our student body - received meritbased scholarships from 30 different providers. Students and scholarship providers had a chance to meet and mingle at our annual Scholarship Breakfast this fall. Featured right is Al Bautista, of Bautista Memorial Scholarship, with recipients Jose Serrano Rodriguez, Isaias Hernandez, and Itzel Perez (not pictured: Marlen Sandova).
In the fall, members of the National Honor Society visited Notre Dame University. Students met admissions counselors, chatted with current students, and more importantly, had an opportunity to imagine life as a college student. “The college application process can be daunting, but being able to picture yourself on campus can have a tremendous impact in your decision to apply. We want our students to feel comfortable in these spaces, learn about the resources on campus, and meet people from similar backgrounds who can help them navigate their college experience, said Laura Aguilar (CR'10), NHS moderator, and Manager of Data and Donor Relations for Cristo Rey.
On December 12, Cristo Rey celebrated the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe with an all-school Mass and traditional play put on by our seniors, which was attended by close to 1,000 parents, siblings, alums, and supporters.
