ATEMPORAL DWELLING

2018 ■ competition ■ team project ■ finalist project

The project addresses the issue of private space in a context that favors a more permeable boundary between inside and outside.

How can a house be exposed and at the same time protected? The premise of intimacy is a starting point for this proposal that seeks to place itself as modestly as possible on the ground but which assumes a clear segregation and representativeness between the spaces, outlining layers of the private, but keeping at the same time its public dimension.

The transition from an exposed area of the exterior of the community to the hidden corners of the home is made with the premise of outlining exterior spaces subordinate to the inhabited interiors. The vital space of the house, naturally outlined around some elements that order it: the vertical axis of the chimney and the skylight is fragmented by the expression, orientation and rhythm of the voids in intimate places, designed for a natural setting

The materials used such as reclaimed brick, wood or pigmented concrete are also chosen in accordance with the modesty of the house and the natural scale of the spaces.

HOUSE OF FAIRYTALES

2013 ■ competition ■ team project

in 7 stories

The entire solution is subordinated to the curating concept of organizing the museum into theme sections, integrating it with the cultural center, and to the idea of making the garden become the center of the complex. The themes, with a literary origin, are a way of structuring the contents of the museum into seven separately coherent sections that, when put together, create a complete, multi-perspective, image of the writer’s universe Each section gathers fairytale-related content by exploring the motifs associated to the theme, objects belonging to the current museum and relevant information about Andersen’s life and legacy Thus exhibits are valorized by the way they are crossreferenced

Six themes are gathered in a central knot that works as a table of contents for a book. Since the themes have no hierarchy the sections can be accessed independently resulting in personalized tours of the museum. All six are placed at the underground level extending upwards in the garden by means of small pavilions that contain references to specific tales. The seventh section is organized around the birthplace of the author and is treated as an exception. The cultural center is partly integrated in the museum, partly placed on the outer limits of the site creating enclosures for the garden. It is accessed both from the upper and lower levels

The domestic, intimate character of the garden is very important to it being perceived as a singular urban sequence This is achieved by keeping the small scale in buildings, enclosure and exposing the blind walls that mark the vicinity of dwellings

The garden is an outdoor lobby for the House of Fairytales but also a place opened towards the city so it also has multiple layers of perception.

2018 ■ THETA ■ implemented ■ team project

Research and design center was built on the largest part of the expansion area of the office space in ElectroPutere Parc. It is the result of the fact that a new project, with a new generation, enters the portfolio of Hella Technical Center Craiova of products that will replace the old fuse box in the car with a fully electronic solution.

This represents a concept for a 8000 sqm office space dedicated to their development center. The client wanted an effective solution with all required amenities for the space that could accommodate up to 5000 workstations.

The project was fully implemented.

TALYANA TOWN REGENERATION

2017 ■ competition ■ team project

The concept is divided in stages and resolves around the idea of vague spaces and hidden routes in the area

The first stage is focused on emphasizing the existing qualities of the area and the cultural heritage that has become harder to trace and almost completely lost –the inner courtyards, the decaying facades of the historical buildings, the streets turned into parking, the passages, neglected public spaces This could be achieved through creating an imaginary net that provides the very structure of the neighborhood – a „Talyan” – attracting visitors from the whole city It will be formed by nodes, connected by dynamically changing paths

The key component is the space in between, a space that has no defined character and is often considered residual

The nodes will materialize in the form of interactive lighting design, that will guide the visitors to current events (temporary activities with minimal impact) – small interventions in collaboration with main cultural and educational venues in the area –museums, galleries, theatres, schools, etc ) – art exhibitions, presentations, building mapping projections

The inhabitants are encouraged to encounter a world beyond their every day perception and gain both material and spiritual benefit

MOT RURAL RESORT

Continuity and change

2011 ■ competition ■ team project

The site has, beyond the dimensions, the shape and the immediate vicinity an unknown location that has not been revealed. The decision of "non-localization" was determined by the need need for "reference model“, a certain framework, as in this paradigm "generic clients" are more suitable than real owner-beneficiaries.

The resort, which includes a restaurant operating semiindependently from the living spaces, but also a residence for the administrators, allowed more varied choices: the association of volumes that reminds of a clustered settlement of isolated volumes, reminiscent of the "summer camps" of some houses.
