Type: Academic- Studio Work
Semester: Spring 2023
Project: Group
Location: Camp Sherman Riverside county, CA
For this project we teamed up with the Girl Scouts of Orange County at Camp Scherman to help imagine a new design idea for their highest most northern part of their Camp. We help create new ideas that help reform a plain landscape with erosion problems and weeds.
One thing our group noticed when visiting the site was the clear skies with little to no light pollution. Our tour guide emphasized how at night time the sky is lit up with stars and constellations. This sparked an idea for our group to create a constellation garden in the shape of signs the girl scouts are able to look at while at the site.
With a pathway the shape of a constellation flooded with plants with vibrant blues, purples and yellows that represent our space galaxy.

Their goal is to create a “sky farm” that will be located on top of their roof. Their goal with this project is to create a micro-social enterprise program supplying urban farming training for students as well as fresh produce to their kicthen, farmers market ,and local restaurants.

Native plants are best for designing a butterfly garden. Female butterflies lay their eggs on Milkweed plants in the Asclepiasgenus- where the caterpillars will hatch, feed and grow before forming a chrysalis. It is also important to include nectar plants such as goldenrods.
