Boyd, Kimmins, Parker, Pollard, Rucker & Skinner apply for District 4 City Council seat

BY DAVID THOMAS - WNWS.COM DECEMBER 22, 2021 At its January 2022 meeting, the Jackson City Council will select from six applicants to fill the District 4 seat of deceased council member Harvey Buchanan. Harvey Buchanan, who passed away December 3, was elected City Council Representative for District Four in May 1995. THE APPLICANTS ARE – Tracy Boyd He lists agreement preparation, professional ethics understanding, legal knowledge, conflict resolution, deductive reasoning, attention to detail and problem solving among his skills. Margaret Fuller Kimmins Kimmins lists among her objectives to ‘go beyond the call of duty to enhance the ability of knowledge and expertise to perform the main task of representing the interests of the constituents of District 4.’ Mary Alice Parker “If selected, I aim to improve the quality of life for its (District 4) residents and the citizens of Jackson and Madison County by utilizing my skills, life experiences and my work relationships with city officials. I would like to finish councilman Buchanan’s term.” Carla R. Pollard Pollard said she is ‘highly skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities and calls herself ‘an initiative-taking and enthsiastic property manager whose key skills include being able to multitask without compromising service standards.’ Marilyn Rucker “I am applying for this position because I care about the welfare and concerns of the people in my district. I’m a Christian and knowledgeable of the issues and the conditions we live in are poor. I’m service-minded and want to help my community.” Tara Skinner Skinner calls herself a lifetime community servant and driven constituent of District 4 for over 20 years ‘with a keen understanding of both the local ordinances and the District 4 residents.’

The Masons joined The Bank of Jackson and the “Showout Group” in spreading donates to the Community, Pre-K schools, and to Head Start. They assended on Washington Douglass Headstart as the students were ending their ‘Clothes Study’, where they discussed Clothes, Toys, and Foods that Children around the world wear, play with, and eat during Christmas. They made pillows, a Pinata, decorated “Sweater” cookies, wore Christmas clothing/ pajamas, and Cultural clothing as a part of the End of Study Celebration. - Dr. Jerry Woods
