Cricket NSW takes very seriously our responsibility to grow the game of cricket throughout our State. We continue to lead the country in all aspects of the game, both on and off the field.

Our purpose is to inspire everyone to play and love the game of cricket. Everything we do is based around this purpose. Like generations before us, we want to create role models to inspire boys and girls to play and love our great game. We are delighted by the role models we have in the game today – and we are proud of the number of men and women representing Australia from NSW.

At the elite level, Cricket NSW had a very successful season. We won three of the five major titles – the WBBL, BBL and Men’s Domestic One-Day Cup. NSW also contributed almost 40% of the Australian representatives across men’s and women’s cricket.

However, the reality is the health of the game of the cricket is not just judged by elite success.

It is equally, if not more importantly, judged by the number of boys and girls playing cricket across the State. At Cricket NSW, almost half of our staff are focused on the grassroots level – working hard to ensure everyone is given an opportunity to play and thrive in our game. We work closely with the thousands of volunteers who make it possible – from parents driving their children to practice and matches, to coaches, team managers, scorers, canteen operators and umpires who all commit time and energy for the love of the game.

Despite a reduction in distributions from Cricket Australia, Cricket NSW maintained its investment in Community Cricket and the results came through strongly. After allowing for affected competitions due to COVID-19, registered cricketers increased 3% in NSW in the past season – this is above the results across the rest of the Country. Even more pleasing is an 8% increase in registered children, well above the national average increase of 2%.

Cricket NSW couldn’t have achieved any of this without incredible support from the NSW Government, whose leadership in allowing sport in our State to proceed was incredible. We are also fortunate to have financial support from many great sponsors which enables us to continue to invest and grow our game.

I would like to thank the hard work of our CEO, Lee Germon, and his entire team throughout the past 12 months. We are lucky at Cricket NSW to have strong leadership amongst our management and playing groups.

Message from the Chief Executive I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to the many members of our cricket family across NSW who have pulled together during these most difficult of times.

Although it has definitely been a challenging year, it is important that we appreciate what we have achieved together.

I feel particularly proud and privileged to be part of CNSW, an organisation that is centred and driven by our purpose to inspire everyone to play and love cricket.

GROWING THE GAME

PEAK PERFORMANCE

This is the most important area for us if we are to be the leading sport.

We need to have boys and girls choosing to play cricket and receiving the connection and character-building benefits that come from this.

On the field, it was a very pleasing season, winning three out of five national senior titles and finishing runner-up in the Sheffield Shield. The Sydney Thunder women won the WBBL title, with the entire competition being hosted in Sydney. The Sydney Sixers men won back-to-back BBL titles, with the final the only match played in Sydney, and the NSW Blues won the Marsh One-Day Cup title. The Breakers, unfortunately, didn’t make the final.

The 2020/21 cricket season was a successful one for NSW. Incredibly, almost all of cricket was delivered in NSW and nationally. A slightly reduced domestic and international schedule was delivered which is testament to both Cricket Australia and the work of all States and Territories.

Despite the uncertainty of the global pandemic, we prioritised maintaining the number of staff and level of support in Community Cricket. The Community Cricket and Cricket Performance teams adapted to assisting our cricket family via technology as well as face to face and this enabled stronger relationships to be developed. The result of this has been seen in the very pleasing results for Community Cricket.

This retention of staff and support contributed to the significant growth in registered children playing our game across entry level programs and junior cricket. There was a major increase in girls participating in these programs.

There were many more Woolworths Cricket Blast centres, holiday programs and centres staying open longer during the season. Club support increased with a focus on reducing volunteer burden through increasing service support such as e-scoring and MyCricket training. Many competitions commenced after Christmas in response to the COVID-19 situation and there were new social competitions including a number of Women’s Competitions.

Due to the impact of COVID-19, there were no national pathway competitions played. We continued to contribute a number of players to the Australian squads, including newcomers Daniel Sams, Tanveer Sangha and Hannah Darlington.

The implementation of the review of High Performance continued with Michael Klinger being appointed as the Head of Male Elite Cricket.

BRIAN TABER – INDUCTED 2021

The purpose of the CNSW Hall of Fame is to recognise NSW’s greatest cricketers for their contribution to NSW and Australian Cricket. I would like to make special mention of two very worthy inductees over the last two seasons.

Brian Taber, who learned the game on a paddock in Wollongong, was a small, dapper wicket-keeper of the greatest quality. After joining Gordon in 1955/56, he played the first of his 129 first-class matches when selected for NSW against Western Australia in 1964/65. Two years later, Brian played the first of his 16 Tests.

LISA STHALEKAR – INDUCTED 2020 Although unable to be officially presented at the 2020 Awards, Lisa was inducted in that year.

The great all-rounder has the remarkable record of claiming more than 200 wickets and scoring almost 4,000 runs at both the international and domestic level. Throughout this amazing career, she won an incredible 14 Women’s National Cricket League titles in 16 years with the NSW Lendlease Breakers, including five as captain. Lisa was also an integral member of two World Cup titles (in 2005 and 2013) and two World T20 titles (in 2010 and 2012) for Australia. Lisa won a T20 championship with the Breakers in 2012/13 and helped the Sydney Sixers to their first WBBL title in 2016/17 in her second season back after initial retirement.

She played 145 one-day fixtures for the Breakers – the most by any NSW player – and another 45 T20 matches for her state. This complemented 187 matches across all formats for Australia and 25 matches for the Sixers.

In all forms of cricket for her state and country, Lisa scored a combined 8,005 runs at the Test and One-Day International level. Her highest score for Australia was 120 not out against England in the 2003 Women’s Ashes.

Lisa also scored two centuries for the Breakers during her career at domestic level.

A highlight for the Premier Cricket season was the introduction of livestreaming multi-camera coverage with commentary and replays across five T20 matches on the Daily Telegraph website. This was followed by three limited overs finals broadcast live on Kayo nationally – a first for Premier Cricket in Australia. This resulted in 1.36 million minutes viewed, 250,000 views of First Grade content and 50,000 views of the weekly highlights package.

FINANCIAL STRENGTH We budgeted a deficit this year to enable us to retain our community cricket staff, club grants and as many cricket programs as we could. Whilst the operating result before investment returns was a deficit, this was considered a satisfactory result given the impacts of COVID-19 on the 2020/21 season.

In 1968, Brian equalled the world record for most dismissals in one match by removing 12 South Australians; his eight scalps during his Test debut was the most by an Australian against South Africa.

While he became the first captain-coach of NSW in 1970/71, Brian also served as a state selector for 25 years (1975/76 – 1989/90 and 2002/03 – 2011/12), managed Australian under-19s teams for 10 years and in 1994/95 managed the historic Australia A team that competed against England, Zimbabwe, and Australia.

However, his greatest contribution to cricket is arguably his achievements as the Australian National Cricket coach, a role which was designed to unify coaching practices across the nation. As a result of his efforts, the National Coaching Plan produced 10,000 coaches by the end of 1980.

The post-script to this worthy Hall Of Fame inductee’s human touch belongs to Ian Davis, who, in 1973/74, represented Australia after playing only six matches for NSW. “He was the reason I played for NSW and Australia all in the one season,” said Davis of Taber, his teammate at Gordon. “He made sure he watched what I was doing . . .”

Finally, I would like to express my thanks to everyone who supports me in my role at CNSW. We are fortunate to have a board that understands our game, is well led by Chair John Knox and is committed to investing in cricket in NSW to ensure it is a leading sport in Australia.

Thanks also to members of the Leadership Team at CNSW who have led through a period of great uncertainty and provided me with wonderful support and to all the staff at CNSW who continue to inspire me.

Revenue was impacted in many areas, but in particular from a 12.5% reduction in State Distributions from Cricket Australia, as well as there being no BBL round matches in NSW. It should be noted that this result was achieved without receiving any support payments under the Federal Government’s JobKeeper assistance program, or any reduction in full time staff.

The construction of community cricket facilities continued through our funding partnership with Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricketer’s Association via the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund (ACIF), as well as our relationships with government, councils and local cricket stakeholders.

A review of the delivery of our Community Cricket was completed during the season which will result in changing how we deliver our programs.

We have very supportive, motivated commercial partners who I would like to thank.

Our new Cricket Centre at Wilson Park has progressed well and we are on track to move into the centre towards the end of the first quarter in 2022.

Work also continued developing the Cricket NSW Foundation, the charitable arm of Cricket NSW. Donations given to the Foundation will help ensure the growth and sustainability of cricket in NSW.

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE CNSW RAP

OPPORTUNITIES

CNSW acknowledges and pays respect to the land and waters across New South Wales, on which we are privileged to live, work and play our great game of cricket. We pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples who have walked upon and cared for this land for thousands of years. We acknowledge their ongoing connection to this country as the Traditional Owners and we commit ourselves to the ongoing journey of Reconciliation, so that together we may bring about equity and equality, built on strong and trusting relationships.

Cricket NSW’s first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is being released with the vision it will inspire Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to truly embrace cricket and the many opportunities it can provide: the chance to make friends, to enjoy a healthy lifestyle, to have fun and the possibility of representing their state and nation.

The implementation of the CNSW RAP will incorporate 90 plus deliverables across the key aspects of Relationships, Respect, Opportunities and Governance. These pillars will allow CNSW to closely monitor the progress and ensure we can deliver on the purpose of the RAP across NSW by the following criteria:

Cricket NSW recognises the provision of opportunities that celebrate and champion Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples is essential to achieving this vision. By improving our recruitment and procurement processes, providing inclusive elite and community pathways, and celebrating the incredible history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples within the game, Cricket NSW will inspire Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to play and love Cricket and provide leadership to the wider Cricket community.

The purpose of our RAP is to offer the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in NSW a formal statement of our commitment to reconciliation and positive engagement. While this document is our acknowledgement, reconciliation can only be built on a foundation of mutual trust, respect and relationships and it is also a concession that our sport could have done some things better in the past.

However, as we head into the future, our commitment to improve is underpinned by Relationship, Respect, Opportunities and Governance because each of these pillars can shape what’s not only a welcoming environment for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to cricket, but one that could also provide individuals with a sense of empowerment.

We would also like to take the release of our RAP as an opportunity to acknowledge, and thank, the Cricket NSW Aboriginal Advisory Committee for the tireless guidance and support they’ve provided as we’ve engaged with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait communities during the preparation of this plan.

Apart from allowing us to share the message that cricket really is a sport for all, the Committee has also helped our Community Cricket Staff implement programs that have introduced Indigenous children to the sport.

While Cricket NSW is excited – and proud – to release our first RAP, we know there is still a way to go.

The Rainbow Serpent, with blue circles, represent the past, present and future players in NSW, with the stream representing the pathway of cricket, from grassroots to elite. The blue, magenta and lime colours on the Rainbow Serpent represent each of the professional teams within Cricket NSW – the Blues, Breakers, Sixers and Thunder – and showcase that everyone is welcome. The brown colours represent the values of Cricket NSW and the acknowledgement of Aboriginal land.

However, as an organisation that’s dedicated to reconciliation, we’re deeply committed to fulfilling our vision of ensuring all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples know that they’re welcomed – and respected – by Cricket NSW.

RELATIONSHIPS Building strong relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and other Australians is essential for Cricket NSW to achieve its purpose in inspiring everyone to play and love cricket. Cricket is a sport for all and strong relationships enable us to connect with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. This will enable CNSW to provide accessible and inclusive initiatives.

RESPECT Respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, knowledge and rights is an important step to developing understanding, appreciation and pride. Nurturing respect among Cricket NSW staff and the wider cricket community, as well as stakeholders and others within our sphere of influence, is key to creating greater connections between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and non-Indigenous Australians. This gives Cricket NSW the power to develop more inclusive practices to encourage and welcome Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to ‘play and love cricket’.

GOVERNANCE CNSW will ensure the RAP is delivered successfully by ensuring these governance measures are followed: • Establish and maintain an effective RAP Working Group (RWG) to drive governance of the Reconciliation Action Plan.

• Provide appropriate support for effective implementation of RAP commitments.

• Build accountability and transparency through reporting RAP achievements, challenges and learnings, both internally and externally.

• Continue our reconciliation journey by developing our next RAP. CNSW are committed to delivering on the Innovate Reconciliation Plan and look forward to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples across the State.

In particular, the MyCricket “Live Score” e-Scoring App continues to grow in popularity with a total of 46% of all matches in NSW/ACT scored using the App last season, compared to 29% and 17% respectively in the two seasons prior. The App has saved volunteers tens of thousands of hours of data entry since its inception and is popular amongst players and followers alike.

During the season, Cricket Australia announced that PlayHQ will become Australian Cricket’s Competition and Program Management Platform, with MyCricket being decommissioned at the end of a short transition period.

The migration project recently reached its first major milestone with all State and Territory Cricket Association delivering Woolworths Cricket Blast Programs utilising Play HQ. Internally, Cricket NSW continues to invest in the continued development of the national data warehouse and increasing its use of Power BI data visualisation software to embed data-led decision making across the business. season

The introduction during the of a CRM tool for Club and Association stakeholders is expected to yield wider benefits in the upcoming season. We also continue to benefit from the Microsoft suite of products, in particular the Teams software which facilitated a great deal of collaboration both internally and with volunteers via its Video Meeting functionality.

The Woolworths Cricket Blast entry-level program was, however, able to continue to grow from strength to strength with an increased focus on promoting the format to girls, as well as the expansion of ‘Pop-Up Blast Centres’ and Holiday Programs contributing to a 20% year-on-year increase in participants.

NSW/ACT is again No.1 for participation within Australian Cricket. A total of 440,620 participants played cricket or participated in cricket programs in season 2020/21. Although this is a 10.6% decrease (52,472 participants) on the previous season, it represents greater overall participation than in 2018/19.

The circumstances created by the pandemic heralded a significant reduction in Community Cricket staffing levels in several other State and Territory Cricket Associations in addition to Cricket Australia. Whilst this heavily impacted off-season and pre-season planning and execution, it also provided our team with a wonderful opportunity to play a leadership role across a range of national initiatives.

The Community Cricket team made the most of funding opportunities from both NSW Government and Cricket Australia in season 2020/21, working with councils, local cricket associations and clubs to access funding by securing over $7.2 million to support participation growth and club development:

Cricket NSW was, however, able to capitalise on years of prudent fiscal management to renew its commitment to the increased staff levels that had been implemented into the field over the prior two years. The entire department was appreciative of the support and backing of the CNSW Board of Directors and this enabled them to continue an elevated level of engagement and support to our volunteer network.

The CNSW Community cricket team experienced a season like no other in 2020/21. Seeking to consolidate on the sturdy growth of the previous season, the coronavirus pandemic continued to cause enormous disruption to our way of life and community sport, including cricket, was not immune.

A strong school participation strategy aimed at introducing young Australians to cricket and developing a love of the game is driven through four main cricket programs.

A key pillar of our strategy to drive a culture of cricket in schools is to empower teachers to participate in NESA-accredited, curriculumaligned professional development programs. This allows teachers to gain professionally-recognised accreditation and to self-deliver cricket programs within their schools.

The School sector was severely impacted during the traditional recruitment window of Terms 3 and 4 due to COVID-19.

CLUBS AND COMPETITIONS At the height of the public health orders during the offseason, Cricket NSW approached the major winter sport codes to seek an agreement that would permit an extension of their COVID-impacted seasons and provide certainty for our volunteers to work towards an agreed upon start date.

We are pleased to report that an overwhelming majority of all local community club cricket competitions were able to be successfully completed over the course of the summer, despite the length of the season being shorter than usual in many jurisdictions.

Supporting our clubs and associations to implement a safe return to play was a primary focus for our staff, who worked fastidiously to develop COVID Safety Plan templates for all club activities and produce recommended amendments to Playing Conditions, which simultaneously supported the safety of players and match officials as well as their continued enjoyment of the game.

Clubs and associations were further supported with embedding the Safeguarding Children and Young People framework. A record number of clubs adopted the framework and appointed a Child Safe Officer in their organisation this season. We will continue to work with our volunteers to make the implementation of the framework as simple and practical as possible.

From a competitions aspect, the Conference Administration program continued to deliver positive outcomes for players and volunteers alike.

In particular, the Sixers Cricket League South-East continues to go from strength to strength, both in terms of the different formats being offered and in pure team numbers. Social Women’s Cricket also delivered robust growth with the trial of a new organisation and delivery model that introduced competitions in several new locations.

Visits by field force staff were not permitted and local school cricket competitions and inter-region carnivals were cancelled. Through adversity came innovation, with our Participation Officers adapting current resources into online delivered modules for teachers to use to keep students active at home and when they returned to the classroom. On the back of these relationships, we were able to achieve success promoting club recruitment opportunities to students.

INDOOR CRICKET Indoor Cricket faced a particularly challenging year in the face of the pandemic. Centres were forced to cease operations for the entire April to July period and programs and competitions were curtailed to a considerable extent for the remainder of the season. Numerous centres across NSW and the ACT have closed their doors, perhaps permanently, which will create significant challenges to the growth of this segment in the short to medium term.

CONCLUSION It is difficult to fully communicate the care and support our teams provided our cricket communities in unprecedented times.

From providing equipment, administrative and personal support to volunteers, to stepping up and volunteering themselves to ensure cricket happens is immeasurable. These results do not appear on scorecards or census results, but they are the foundation of long-term partnerships between Cricket NSW and our communities as we grow the love and participation of cricket.

Season 2020/21 will be remembered as a season of unprecedented disruption and our Community Cricket Leadership Team will reflect on the season as one of resilience and agility. A season where Cricket NSW provided leadership and support to our customers to successfully deliver cricket for their communities.

Life Members Former Australian Test cricketers Michael Clarke AO and Karen Hill, nee Price, were inducted as Cricket NSW Life Members at the association’s Annual General Meeting in September 2021.

Clarke and Hill became the 130th and 131st Life Members of Cricket NSW. Clarke captained Australia in 47 of his 115 Tests and is the fourth leading run-scorer in Men’s Test cricket for Australia, with 8,643 runs at an average of almost 50, including a highest score of 329 not out made against India, at his beloved SCG, in January 2012.

He is also fourth on the all-time run-scorers’ list for Australia in One-Day International cricket with 7,981 at 44.58.

For NSW, Clarke scored 3,164 First Class runs at 43.34, including 11 centuries, and was part of two Sheffield Shield titles, or Pura Cup as it was then known, in 2003 and 2008.

Clarke was also one of Australia’s finest fielders, taking 203 First Class catches and 132 in OneDay cricket. He also bowled handy left-arm orthodox spin, famously taking 6-9 for Australia in the fourth Test against India in 2004, and three wickets in the last over of the second Test against India at the SCG in January 2008.

Clarke has also been ambassador for several charities, launched his own Cricket Academy and established a media career post retirement. He was named an Officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia in June 2020 “It’s such an honour, I cherished my time playing for NSW and that started from a really young age,” said Clarke.

“I think Under 12s was the first Metropolitan squad for NSW, so every Sunday I was training sort of from 12 years of age all the way up to making my debut at 18 years of age.

“Playing for my club Western Suburbs is something I cherished just as much as playing for NSW and Australia.”

Clarke said he was blessed to play during the era that he did.

“I played with so many great players and I got to see a lot of young super stars make their debut and now go on to be very successful Australian cricketers.

“Obviously the guys you idolised, the Waugh brothers, Michael Bevan and Michael Slater, Glenn McGrath, when I first came into the team, but when they went and represented Australia, we still had a lot of International players playing for NSW, we had a young Brett Lee, Stuart MacGill, Shane Lee and Brad Haddin.

Hill, a right-arm pace bowler and right-handed batter, represented Australia in eight Test matches and 16 One-Day Internationals between 1975 and 1986.

Since then, she has made an enormous contribution to the game in coaching, administration and now as a researcher at the Bradman Museum in Bowral as part of the Women’s Heritage Council.

One of the pioneers of women’s cricket, her International career included a Test century and best figures of 6-72, both against India. She was vice-captain of Australia in 1984.

Since joining her first club, Mirrabooka, Hill has given cricket so much.

She first represented NSW in the State Schoolgirls’ team in 1969/70 and was a regular NSW representative at Under 21 and Under 25 level, captaining her state at Under 21s.

Hill played 25 matches for NSW, at the Women’s State Team Australian Championships from 1972/73 to 1976/77 and 1983/84 to 1986/87, taking 58 wickets at an average of just 12, including best figures of 7-22.

During her years away from Women’s cricket between 1977/78 and 1982/83, Karen played Men’s cricket with Normanhurst Cricket Club.

She also captained and represented Australia in Indoor cricket.

After retiring, Hill played a key role in the development of women’s cricket and was the first National Development Officer to the Australia Women’s Cricket Council.

Hill received the Centenary Medal for services to Women’s cricket in 2001 and also the ‘Appreciation Award’ for services to the NSW Women’s Cricket Association that same year.

“I love cricket and you don’t volunteer for what you get at the end, you volunteer because you enjoy what you’re doing and because you love the sport, or the organisation, or whatever you volunteer for,” said Hill.

“I missed not being able to play, doing all these things it allows you stay in touch with the sport.

It allows you stay in touch with the friends that you’ve made.

“The one thing I regret about it all is my Dad was the one that got me into cricket, but he died when I was 16. He actually never got to see me play for NSW or for Australia.

“In thanking people, you’ve just got to thank all those people who were running cricket when I first started playing, in the late 1960s, early 1970s, who had no money – there was no money, there was nothing – but they did what they needed to do to be able to offer the game to people.

“I still remember some of the people who were in my first club, Mirrabooka, and I’ve got to thank those people because without them we wouldn’t be where we are today.”

2020/21 was a season where unprecedented considerations and a new lexicon invaded the domestic cricket landscape. Players and staff became accustomed to ‘biosecurity’, ‘hubs’, ‘bubbles’ and ‘swabs’ and routine practices like shining the ball, handing the umpire your hat and high fives were suddenly contrary to the playing conditions. Players, staff, coaches, officials and volunteers across our cricket network can be justifiably proud of the quality and quantity of cricket that was staged and played given the extraordinary backdrop. Our professional teams performed admirably across the summer as they again set about inspiring the next generation of girls and boys to play and love cricket.

Head Coach Phil Jaques and the NSW Blues can be proud of their achievements this summer, figuring in the final of both competitions and claiming their 12th One-Day title. After a few false starts, the Blues set about defending their 2019/20 Sheffield Shield title in a month-long hub in Adelaide, which delivered a thrilling onewicket win against Queensland and a stirring, come from behind, victory against Tasmania having been bundled out for just 64 in the first innings. After the break for the Big Bash, the Blues could only add one more win in the remaining five matches, including a scintillating fourth innings run chase at Adelaide Oval, but still qualified for the Final against Queensland at Allan Border Field. The Blues’ inconsistent batting would be their undoing again in the decider, with a Marnus Labuschagne masterclass dominating the fixture and leading Queensland to their ninth title.

Sean Abbott was a standout for the Blues, returning a fine season of 570 runs and 21 wickets in the Shield, including a maiden First Class century against Tasmania in Adelaide.

The 50-over competition was a successful one from start to finish for the Blues. Complications with the international schedule allowed the Blues to field a mix of our international stars and emerging talent, with the mix working perfectly for new captain Patrick Cummins.

Highlights included Ollie Davies producing 57 from 41 balls on debut against Victoria at North Sydney Oval and Jack Edwards’ composed match-winning century in the Final win over Western Australia at Bankstown Oval.

Test veteran Nathan Lyon played every Shield match, collecting 42 wickets to finish as the competition’s leading wicket-taker. His season haul included 10 for the match against Victoria at the SCG. For his performances, Lyon was awarded the Cricket Australia and Cricket NSW Marsh Sheffield Shield Player of the Season.

Lachlan Hearne made his First Class debut late in the season with a fine half century against Queensland in Wollongong, becoming the 755th player to don the Baggy Blue cap.

David Warner claimed the award as One-Day Player of the Year for his 199 runs at an average of 66.33, including a match-defining century in Hobart against Tasmania.

The Sydney Thunder won their second WBBL crown, qualifying third before securing a miraculous win against Brisbane Heat in the semi-final and a dominant display against Melbourne Stars in the Final at North Sydney Oval.

The Sydney Thunder Men had a strong summer, qualifying for the finals for the second successive season and continuing their improvement under the tutelage of Head Coach Shane Bond.

Overall, Sean Abbott became the first player to be awarded a third Steve Waugh Medal since it was first awarded in 2003.

Coach Trevor Griffin and Captain Rachael Haynes can be very proud of the even contribution that came from everyone across the squad, with international stars Haynes, Heather Knight and fast bowler Shabnim Ismail blending perfectly with exciting talents such as Sammy-Jo Johnson, Phoebe Litchfield and Hannah Darlington. England star Knight picked up the Alex Blackwell Medal as the most valuable player.

Import Alex Hales was a standout performer in the league, belting a tournament record 30 sixes on the way to 543 runs, leading the way for the competition. All-rounders Daniel Sams and new recruit Ben Cutting formed a powerful middle order finishing combination and talented New South Wales youngsters Ollie Davies and Tanveer Sangha burst on to the scene to ensure the future looks incredibly bright for the club.

Days after the Thunder Women lifted the trophy at North Sydney Oval, the BBL got underway, again in unusual circumstances with teams travelling around in ‘hubs’ navigating state border closures and quarantine restrictions.

The WBBL also threw up challenges for all competing teams, with the entire competition played in Sydney and all teams housed securely in Sydney Olympic Park, Accor Hotels. From the outset it seemed clear that those who coped best with the high intensity, unusual surroundings would perform best in the competition.

Bond and the team were disappointed not to reach the final, falling short against Brisbane in the Knockout. Hales claimed the Mike Hussey Medal as the team’s Most Valuable Player.

Thunder farewelled captain Callum Ferguson at the completion of the season after tremendous service to the club and leading the men in lime green back to the Finals.

The Sydney Sixers Women finished fifth on the table, struggling for consistency at the end of both batting and bowling innings. Alyssa Healy was a stand-out with the bat, returning 402 runs, including a stirring century (111 off 52) at North Sydney Oval against arch-rivals the Melbourne Stars.

Although the Sixers attack didn’t quite click this season, the future looks extremely bright with the return of Lauren Cheatle from a shoulder reconstruction and the emergence of Stella Campbell as a potent addition to the attack.

The Sydney Sixers Men swept all before them, claiming back-to-back titles, and their third overall. Head Coach Greg Shipperd with on-field leaders Moises Henriques and Daniel Hughes ran an exceptional campaign that culminated in a 27-run victory against arch-rivals the Perth Scorchers on an unforgettable night at the SCG. Amazingly, the Final was the team’s first home match for the summer and the whole set-up can be proud of the way they cleared every obstacle placed in their way. Shipperd’s idea to lure the evergreen Daniel Christian home from the Melbourne Renegades proved a masterstroke, with the veteran contributing strongly with both bat and ball across the season.

Englishman James Vince was again outstanding and named the Sixers’ Most Valuable Player for the club, his solid season peaking perfectly with a man of the match 95 from 60 balls in the Final.

The Sixers farewelled veteran Sarah Aley after their final match, with the NSW great marking the end of her magnificent professional career.

Vince was the second leading run-scorer behind Hales, with 537 runs at an average just under 40 and top score of 98 not out. Josh Philippe was third on the list with 508.

In the WNCL, several delays to the commencement of the competition, a slow start out of the blocks start against Victoria and a rain-soaked final weekend at North Sydney Oval combined to produce a campaign that never really got off the ground for the Breakers.

The team finished fourth on the table, behind winners Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania. Stars Rachael Haynes, who scored 413 runs including a century against Tasmania, Ashleigh Gardiner (256) and Alyssa Healy (225), produced with the bat, but the team struggled to make inroads with the ball, with only Lauren Cheatle, with eight wickets, and Hannah Darlington able to have significant impact.

Hannah Darlington became the youngest Captain of a New South Wales team in the match against Tasmania, Anika Learoyd made her Breakers debut and Rachael Haynes was a standout winner for Player of the Year, also collecting her first Belinda Clark Medal.

Off the field, 2020/21 has been a year of significant change for the Cricket Performance squad.

Our vision is to provide a world class, high performance program to our players, coaches and umpires. To achieve this, there have been some key structural changes, aimed at simplifying the way we are organised, allowing us to focus on our key enablers of developing our people and improving our data and analytics capability.

During the season, Leah Poulton joined as Head of Female Elite Cricket.

Leah’s appointment is the first of its kind in Australian Cricket and demonstrates our commitment to continuing to lead the female game.

Leah, a former New South Wales and Australian player, brings coaching, administration experience and a determination to create the best female high- performance program in the world.

Alongside Leah, Michael Klinger joined the team as Head of Male Elite Cricket. Michael has experience playing and coaching in all formats across a wide variety of high performance environments. He is a widely respected figure across Australian Cricket and his focus on development of our coaches and building teams is already having a strong impact.

In our Sports Science and Sports Medicine (SSSM) team we have also had some significant changes.

Darren Goodger has agreed to step up to a newly created role as Head of People Development, aimed at streamlining our strategy for developing the best players, coaches and umpires.

Within Darren’s team, David Moore has taken up the role as Head of Coach Development. A former international coach with the West Indies and a vastly experienced high performance administrator, David is charged with mentoring our high performance coaches and implementing a world class learning environment for them. Again, David’s position is the first of its kind in Australian Cricket.

On the coaching side, Chandika Hathurusinghe joined the Blues and Thunder programs as an Assistant Coach. Chandi had previously worked with us during a very successful partnership with Trevor Bayliss, before heading overseas, accumulating six years of international Head Coach experience with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Widely regarded as one of the best batting technicians in the game and an expert against slow bowling, Chandi will be a great asset to our batting groups moving forward.

Having led the Thunder to successive finals appearances, Shane Bond made the decision to spend more time back home in New Zealand this Christmas and will not be returning to the Thunder for BBL|11. Shane made a strong contribution to the Club over his three-year tenure and we hope to see him involved with Cricket NSW again in the future.

World Cup and Ashes winning coach Trevor Bayliss has agreed to join the Thunder, returning to his cricketing roots in Western Sydney. Securing TB is a huge coup for Cricket NSW. Since his Shield-winning stint with New South Wales, he has become one of the most sought-after coaches in the world, mentoring Sri Lanka, England and in the IPL. Alongside TB’s appointment, Greg Shipperd has agreed to coach the Sixers for the next three years, meaning that our BBL teams are now led by arguably the two finest coaches in the country.

Tom Reddin has left as Head of SSSM and taken an opportunity to lead female programs at the GWS Giants. Tom has been a great asset to Cricket NSW in the past five years, in what was his second stint here, having previously been Blues Strength and Conditioning coach. He has built and shaped the SSSM team to be the leading one of its type in Australian Cricket and has been a tower of strength this year in navigating the complexities of training in a COVID environment.

Gavan Twining has been recognised for his excellent work across many of our programs, securing the Breakers Head Coach role, previously held by Dominic Thornely. Gavan’s appointment, in conjunction with Anthony Clark’s promotion to the Blues program, demonstrates the coaching pathway that exists at Cricket NSW for our aspiring coaches.

We also farewelled outgoing Female Talent Manager Steve Jenkin.

Steve made an extraordinary contribution to Cricket NSW, and particularly to Women’s cricket, over a career spanning three decades. He first coached at an elite level with the New South Wales Under 18s in 1992 and developed an amazing career that included stints at the helm of New South Wales, Western Australia, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, as well as the Cricket Academy.

He was a pioneer in women’s cricket and adopted a philosophy based on holistic player development that was ahead of its time. He is also a very proud grandfather and Dharawal man, as well as a great friend to many people at Cricket NSW and the wider cricket community.

Developing more female coaches is an important focus area for Cricket NSW and Leah Poulton has delivered a best in class coaching apprenticeship program for prospective coaches. In the first intake, Sarah Aley, Hannah Trethewy and Lisa Griffith have and will benefit from exposure to our programs as well as skill development and mentoring to fast track their coaching careers. As this report goes to print, Sarah and Hannah have accepted full time roles within Cricket Performance.

In an exciting development for Cricket NSW, Patrick Farhart has filled the post vacated by Tom. Patrick is widely renowned as the leading Cricket Physiotherapist in the world, with three decades of experience at the elite level across the globe. Pat presented with a strong focus on developing people and teams and an inspiring vision of what world class SSSM programming could look like as we look ahead to our new home in the coming months.

Joining Patrick’s team will be Jamie Ryan, as our Performance Analysis Manager. Jamie has a wealth of experience in coaching and analysis, with Olympic Games and a decade in the AFL with the Giants on his CV. His appointment is focused on developing our team’s capability as we look to lead Australian Cricket in this area.

Season 2020/21 was one that everyone involved in our Cricket Performance squad can be proud of, as we look to play our role in inspiring everyone to play and love cricket. We won three out of a possible five titles and participated in a fourth final. We can lay claim to both the very best performers for Australia and some of the most exciting prospects for our National Teams.

These inspirational players are supported by a dedicated team of coaches and a driven group of SSSM professionals. We also provide the backbone of officiating for Australian Cricket. Thanks and congratulations to everyone involved, and we look forward to even better things in 2021/22.

Sydney Sixers Club Report Like the rest of the community, the Sydney Sixers had ‘different’ seasons for WBBL|06 and BBL|10, culminating in a wonderful ‘Magenta party’ at the SCG in February.

A WBBL tournament all played in Sydney and BBL all played outside our city, meant a challenge for members and fans, but in true Sixers fashion those supporters stuck solid with our teams throughout.

A special thanks to all of those who renewed their membership for the season. We know that many enjoyed the personal calls of thanks from our BBL players in January and we know our players always knew they had your support.

Despite the inability for players to have as much off-field contact with our community as we normally have, the Club still made strong contributions to the community.

In September, Sixers players from both the WBBL and BBL teams participated in online sessions with schools, clubs and teams to spread the gospel of playing and loving cricket.

Sydney Thunder Club Report Players and staff took a big step in educating themselves in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture throughout the season. Former Australian Netballer and proud Aboriginal woman Marcia Ella-Duncan shared her thoughts and wisdom from more than 30 years of experience working in Aboriginal Affairs with our BBL players and staff, while our WBBL squad enjoyed an education session from CA’s then Indigenous Engagement Specialist, Courtney Hagen.

During a re-scheduled NAIDOC week, the Sixers further connected with the Indigenous community when male and female squads played in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander T20 Cup at Raby Sports Complex on Dharawal land. Both Sixers teams wore shirts specially designed by WBBL star and Murawari woman Ash Gardner and her cousin, Allan Shillingsworth.

Our first ever ‘Wear it Magenta Day’ celebrated the start of BBL|10 and our bright colour with school kids getting involved at Gloucester High School, Hornsby North Public School, Tamworth South Public School, Long Flat Primary School and St Joseph’s Primary School, Kempsey.

The Club would like to thank all those supporters who made the decision to renew their Membership for last season, even with the uncertainty of what the season would look like and especially when we were unable to bring matches to Western Sydney.

Sydney Thunder and the BBL as a tournament owe a huge thanks to the cricket lovers of the ACT who supported the 14 BBL matches played at Manuka Oval last season.

Those matches wouldn’t have been able to take place if it wasn’t for the Sydney Thunder and Cricket NSW staff who relocated and sacrificed their summer to bring these matches to life. A sincere thank you to Martin Gleeson and his Community Cricket team based out of Canberra for their enthusiasm and professionalism in assisting with these matches.

As with all sporting Clubs, Sydney Thunder had to adapt to the changing environment of last summer, but was still determined to make a real and meaningful difference to our communities in Western Sydney, Regional NSW and the ACT.

The Sixers’ presence in the LGBT+ community grew significantly over the past 12 months, headlined by the development and release of the club’s 3-year strategy.

The HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup, which exists to give individuals the opportunity to connect with their community and celebrate culture through cricket, was rescheduled three times, but our thanks go to the 750 participants and tournament sponsors HomeWorld for their support.

One of the key actions was the establishment of the Sixers LGBT+ Supporter Group, a world’s first for cricket – currently with 150 members connected. North Sydney Oval played host to its first WBBL Pride Party in October and the BBL Pride Party was held in a watch party style event – due to COVID restrictions.

The seventh edition of the tournament saw teams represent six different communities – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, with India beating Sri Lanka under lights at Blacktown International Sports Park to lift the trophy.

All this work culminated in recognition at the annual Pride in Sports Awards as we were ranked among the top 10 sporting organisations in Australia, taking Silver Tier status in the process.

In November, the Club continued to celebrate its cultural links to the community when it ran the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander T20 Cup at Raby Sports Complex in Dharawal land.

The competition saw men’s and women’s teams from both Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers take part in a series of matches, as well as a number of cultural activities including a performance by local Aboriginal group Koorier Maang. Bringelly Public School, Robert Townson Public School and Blairmount Public School – all of whom have a high percentage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students – joined the players to participate in skill sessions, cultural painting and making wrist bands.

The Thunder teams each wore a specially designed Indigenous playing shirt designed by proud Yuin woman Rheanna Lotter, the same jersey worn by the Thunder BBL and WBBL teams across the season.

Sydney Thunder lifting the WBBL trophy allowed the club to leverage a new addition to its calendar of community activities, when 170 girls from culturally diverse backgrounds across High Schools in Western Sydney took part in a Women’s Thunder Nation Cup event on International Women’s Day in Blacktown. Many of the students had the chance to play cricket for the first time before taking part in a leadership seminar and leadership panel, which including representatives of Sydney Thunder, Australian Federal Police and Multicultural NSW. Sydney Thunder and HomeWorld were also able to increase the number of recipients of the HomeWorld Helpers grant this year, after a record number of applications from communities impacted by drought, bushfires and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Six clubs across the Thunder Nation received a $1,000 grant to go towards developing grassroots programs and talent.

Congratulations to Rand CC (Murray Region), Brocklesby Burrumbuttock CC (Murray Region), Albion Park CC (Illawarra Region), Batemans Bay CC (South Coast Region), Glenorie District CC (North West Sydney Region) and Ingleburn RSL CC (South West Sydney Region).

A record-breaking player shirt auction raised $43,900 for Sony Foundation Australia, which went towards opening a Youth Cancer facility at Randwick Hospital and will help to accommodate regional families during their treatment.

Pathways

The Basil Sellers Scholarship Program Basil Sellers AM continued his ongoing philanthropic contribution to NSW cricket in 2020/21, with 11 Scholarships awarded to the state’s best and brightest young cricketers under 19.

Each of the eleven scholars is a product of the strong Cricket NSW Pathway system, representing either NSW Metropolitan or ACT/NSW Country at various Underage National Championships.

Mr Sellers’ support, through the Cricket NSW Foundation, aims to assist Scholars and their families with education, training, employment and social skills, particularly those rural and regional cricketers who may need to adjust to a city lifestyle.

The program has an enviable record of producing high class international players, with 18 scholars going on to represent Australia, including Pat Cummins, Alyssa Healy, Steve Smith and Ellyse Perry.

Through the ongoing and generous support of Kookaburra Sport, each scholar is also offered a two-year cricket equipment sponsorship.

Eight players received their first Scholarship in 2020, bringing the total number of scholars since 2006 to 133.

If 2020/21 was an unusual season for our professional teams, the disruption was multiplied for our Pathway athletes and coaches as they attempted to navigate the maze of travel and community sport restrictions without the benefit of resources and government exemptions that our professionals enjoyed.

An enormous thanks to our Pathway managers and coaches across the state for the mountain of work that went into ensuring that our players and teams got access to top level coaching and match opportunities wherever possible.

Equally, the Competitions team of Bruce Whitehouse, Stephen Blomfield, Roy Formica, Sean Mantle and Jess McMahon deserve an enormous vote of thanks for managing to schedule, reschedule and execute over 2,500 cricket matches across the summer.

Unfortunately, all of our underage National Championships were postponed and then cancelled for 2020/21. The complexities of getting all States and Territories together, crossing State borders without quarantine, eventually became too great an ask. Our teams then went about trying to create bilateral match opportunities with neighbouring States.

The South Australian Female Under 16s were also able to travel to Raby Sports Complex in Campbelltown to take on our Metropolitan and ACT/Country NSW teams in a tri-series.

The Male Under 19 team had possibly the most difficult path to getting on the field. When the National Championships were cancelled, we accepted an offer from Queensland Cricket to play a series of one day matches at their new facility at Norths.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual presentation evening was not possible in 2020. Instead, Mr Sellers joined all recipients virtually to congratulate them on their recognition.

The Brisbane coronavirus outbreak timing could not have been worse, with that trip cancelled at the very last minute.

Recently, the Basil Sellers Scholarship Program has expanded its focus towards the holistic development of the players, both on and off the field.

In a first for the Program, January saw Scholars invited to take a unique tour of St Vincent’s Hospital, in conjunction with the St Vincent’s Curran Foundation.

Eight members participated, visiting various areas of the campus, including the world-leading Advanced Cardiac Imaging Centre. Scholars experienced how cutting-edge technology is revolutionising medical research, diagnosis and treatment.

The visit allowed the Scholars to gain insights from some of the country’s leading medical professionals, including former Sixers and Breakers player Dr Sara Hungerford, whilst also witnessing first-hand the importance of teamwork and leadership.

It also highlighted the importance of personal development and different career paths.

Western Suburbs Cricket Club came to the rescue and our two teams were able to play each other in two-day and one-day matches on excellent facilities at Pratten Park, with the Country boys coming out on top in both fixtures.

A proposed three-day match at Blacktown International Sportspark was then washed out. It was one of those years.

Coach Education and Development The 2020/21 season has seen a shift in how coach education and development has been run in NSW. Cricket NSW has had to find new ways to engage and upskill coaches, accommodating new ways of living with COVID-19. Cricket NSW Coach and Talent Specialists have been innovative with their use of online coach education and development sessions, which was highlighted by the introduction of the Cricket NSW Coach Education Webinar Series.

It has been another very successful year on the coach education front with over 1,951 coaches coming through various accreditation and development programs in 2020/21. This is an increase of more than 400 coaches on last season, highlighting just how successful the introduction of online coach education has been.

COACH EDUCATION Over the past 12 months, coach education has been a significant priority for the Coach and Talent Specialists across Country and Metropolitan NSW. This season, Coach and Talent Specialists ran a series of coaching Masterclasses focusing on fielding. The key objective was to upskill coaches with specific fielding drills and fundamentals which they could take back to the playing groups they were working with, upskilling coaches and players.

In addition to these Masterclasses, Cricket NSW ran a batting workshop for coaches and players in Western Sydney. The session was run and facilitated by former NSW and Australian batsman Michael Bevan.

• The Inner Sanctum, The Breakers Way. Breakers Head Coach Dom Thornley, Assistant Coach Ben Sawyer and all-rounder Lisa Griffith gave insights into their own philosophies and coaching experiences along the way, facilitated by Dean Burke.

• Coaching T20 Cricket with Greg Shipperd. This session focused on Sixers BBL Head Coach Greg Shipperd and his experiences coaching T20 cricket, facilitated by Josh Lalor.

• Winning Finals, Fast Bowler Safety. Led by former Cricket NSW fast bowler Mark Cameron and NSW Blues Physiotherapist Kieran Thoms, this session gave coaches an insight into the importance of managing young fast bowlers to ensure their safety.

400+ new coaches We would like to take this opportunity to thank all Cricket NSW Coach and Talent Specialists, Community Cricket staff and casual staff who have organised, facilitated, promoted and led coach education and development sessions this past season. Without their hard work and dedication, Cricket NSW would not have been able to reach as many coaches as we did.

We had over 50 men’s and women’s Premier Cricket Coaches register for the four sessions, which included: • Fitness Benchmarking and Fast Bowler Management – Tom Reddin, Head of Sports Science and Sports Medicine at Cricket NSW. • Connecting with Players and Building a Strong Club Culture – John Manenti – Head Coach of the Australian Women’s Rugby 7s and Director of Rugby at Eastwood Rugby Club (Shute Shield).

• Premier Cricket Coaching, A Players Perspective – Adam Crosthwaite and Jodie Hicks – Current Premier Cricket and BBL/WBBL players.

• Building Self-Belief and helping players out of COVID-19 – Alan Mantle, Enhanced Mind Performance.

HIGH PERFORMANCE COACH DEVELOPMENT With the appointment of the new role, Head of Coach Development, resources were allocated to the professional development of highperformance coaches at Cricket NSW. This included development for Head Coaches and Assistant Coach of senior programs and Head Coaches of Pathway programs.

The performance-oriented learning model is utilised in the high-performance coach development process at Cricket NSW. This model is based upon a 70:20:10 ratio of experience, where 70% of workplace learning comes from the coaches learning through workplace experiences, 20% is aided by learning directly from others and 10% of workplace learning is undertaken via formal training.

This model allows the high-performance coaches to implement their learnings at a faster rate and immediately integrate and practise their skills with the playing group they coach.

Aside from the in-situ coach development, where coaches are observed, coached and undertake reflection at practice, in matches and in meetings, coaches undertook the following learning opportunities in the 2020/21 season: • In-tournament opportunities with Sixers and Thunder W/BBL teams

• 2 Representative Coaching Courses with 56 coaches attending

• Business Writing Course through ‘The Australian’ newspaper

• 1 female-only Representative Coaching Course in conjunction with CA that saw 14 coaches attending.

McDonald’s NSW Premier Cricket – Men’s The NSW Premier Cricket competition again comprised 20 clubs, with 15 rounds scheduled for First to Fifth Grades. Those grades, together with the Kingsgrove Sports T20 Cup, Poidevin-Gray Shield and AW Green Shield, contributed to the Club Championship.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP THE SYDNEY SMITH CUP Northern District won the Club Championship for the sixth time overall and for the first time since 2016/17, by a margin of 60 points over ManlyWarringah, with Sydney University in third place.

O’REILLY MEDAL – FIRST GRADE PLAYER OF THE YEAR The O’Reilly Medal for the First Grade Player of the Year is named after former Australian and NSW leg-spinner and journalist, Bill O’Reilly.

Votes are awarded by the umpires on a 3-2-1 basis in each match in the preliminary rounds of the First Grade competition.

In 2020/21, St George allrounder Nic Stapleton and UTS North Sydney top order batsman Thomas Jagot were joint winners of the prestigious award.

It was Tom Jagot’s bat that earned him the honour.

The right-hander made 1,000 runs at 66.7 across all formats during the season, trailing Sydney opener Anthony Mosca by just 27 at the top of the list for runs scored.

Stapleton was the leading allrounder in the competition. Across all formats, he scored 777 runs at an average of 35.3 and claimed 33 wickets at 24.

McDonald’s NSW Premier Cricket – Women’s The McDonald’s Women’s NSW Premier Cricket competition comprised 11 clubs, with competitions starting in October and finishing late March.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP – THE ANN MITCHELL SHIELD Sydney won the Club Championship for the 10th time in their history. They had a total of three teams competing in the NSW Women’s Premier Cricket competitions, finishing with minor premierships in First Grade and Under 18 Brewer Shield, with all three of their teams making Grand Final appearances.

The club championship incorporated the First, Second and Third Grade and Brewer Shield competitions.

FIRST GRADE – THE RUTH PREDDY TROPHY The First Grade Premiership this season consisted of a combination of both 50-over and T20 matches. For the first time in their history, the Ruth Preddy Trophy was won by Northern District after defeating minor premiers Sydney in the Grand Final by 76 runs at Bankstown Oval.

Manly-Warringah, who finished the regular season as minor premiers, won their first Women’s Premier Cricket title as a club after defeating Sydney in the Grand Final by 58 runs at LM Graham Reserve, Manly.

THIRD GRADE LIMITED OVERS

BREWER SHILED (U/18)

In the 40-over competition, which was held after the Christmas break, Gordon won their fourth Third Grade title by defeating Manly-Warringah in the Grand Final by 47 runs at Forsyth Park, Willoughby.

This season saw the Brewer Shield extended to a full-length competition with a combination of 50-over and T20 matches. Parramatta won their third Brewer Shield title after defeating Sydney by 32 runs in the Grand Final at Birchgrove Oval.

THIRD GRADE T20

FIRST GRADE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

The Third Grade T20 competition was held prior to the Christmas break, with CampbelltownCamden winning their first Premiership in this competition after defeating Gordon by 16 runs in the Grand Final at the Raby Sports Complex.

The Women’s First Grade Player of the Year is judged by umpires who award votes on a 3-2-1 basis at the end of each preliminary round match in the First Grade Competition.

The SCA subsequently approved the Committee’s nomination of Scott Rodgie and John Biviano to serve as Appointed Members of the Committee.

CRICKET NSW

The Judiciary Committee found two players guilty of breaching the Code and imposed penalties of one and two matches for the respective offences.

On one occasion, the Committee determined a not guilty finding.

CRICKET AUSTRALIA Cricket Australia again demonstrated its direct commitment to club cricket by allocating $324,400 and $52,655 to Cricket NSW for the development of NSW Premier Cricket and Women’s Premier Cricket respectively. The Board distributed those grants among all clubs, to facilitate projects such as ground improvements and coaching programs.

FUNCTIONS The SCA conducted a joint Premiers’ Dinner for both the Men’s and Women’s Premier Cricket competitions on 30 April 2021 with 365 guests in attendance. The Sydney Shires Premiers Dinner was held on 7 May 2021 with 192 guests in attendance. The two functions were a fitting way in which to end a very successful season and to congratulate all premiership teams and award winners.

During the season, the SCA’s competitions enjoyed regular media coverage, in particular from metropolitan newspapers, suburban newspapers and the Cricket NSW’s social media channels. In addition, the NSW Premier Cricket competition website provided live ball-by-ball coverage of 100% of all First Grade preliminary round matches, together with live streaming of Finals Series matches in all competitions.

During the season, the Commissioners considered 49 alleged breaches of the Code, up from 35 in the previous season. The Commissioners offered 45 players a penalty, ranging from a caution to six matches. On one occasion, the Commissioners determined to take no action.

McDonald’s Men’s Premier Cricket First Grade Champions, Sydney Cricket Club.

In a first for Premier Cricket in Australia, digital streaming service Kayo Sports provided a multicamera broadcast of the finals of the Kingsgrove Sports T20 Cup and First Grade Limited-Overs competitions. Community Radio 2HHH-FM 100.1 also provided successful calls of the Kingsgrove Sports T20 Cup during the season.

UMPIRES The SCA appreciates the efforts of the NSW Cricket Umpires’ and Scorers’ Association (NSWCUSA), which again appointed accredited umpires to officiate in Premier Cricket matches.

The NSWCUSA also assisted the Sydney Shires Cricket Umpires’ Association and the Sydney Women’s Cricket Umpires’ Association to make similar appointments.

Eastern Suburbs Cricket Club paid tribute to club stalwart and Life Member Phil O’Sullivan OAM who passed away on 11th August 2020, at the age of 97.

Phil was a major contributor to the club and the local community over many years. He was a member of the cricket club since 1946 and a Life Member since 1971. He was Vice President from 1967-1979 and President 1979-1987.

Phil started the Saturday morning Junior Coaching classes at Waverley Oval some 40 years ago. To this day, they remain the backbone of the club’s grass roots junior cricket programs.

The club has now over 750 Junior cricket members for boys and girls.

Phil was awarded the Australian Sports Medal in 2000 and the Centenary Medal in 2001. In May 2012, the grandstand at Waverley Oval was named the Phil O’Sullivan-Bob Horsell Grandstand.

Phil received an OAM in 2013 for service to the Waverley region through a range of sporting and community organisations.

Sydney Shires Thirteen clubs contested the Shires competitions.

The four grades, together with the Frank Gray Shield, comprised the Club Championship.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP - THE DAVID TRIBOLET TROPHY Burwood Briars won the Shires Club Championship for the ninth consecutive season and for the 24th time overall, by a margin of 268 points over Lane Cove, with Epping Bulls in third position.

FIRST GRADE - THE RB CLARK CUP For the first time since 2014/15, the RB Clark Cup was won by Burwood Briars after defeating minor premiers Epping in the final at Bon Andrews Park. This was Burwood’s 17th First Grade Premiership.

FRANK GRAY SHIELD (U/24) Warringah won the Frank Gray Shield for the first time since 2017/18 and the ninth time overall after defeating Epping in the final at North Epping Oval.

Two umpires were appointed to every match in NSW Men’s Premier Cricket and Sydney Shires Cricket, a 100 per cent coverage. To have such an extensive coverage is pleasing and a credit to those umpires who made themselves available so willingly and who fulfilled their appointments in a professional manner. Stephen Blomfield (Sydney Shires Cricket Umpires’ Association) is thanked for his assistance during the season in managing the umpire appointment process on a round-by-round basis which helped ensure all matches were officiated by accredited umpires.

The Association maintained its commitment to umpire training and development across New South Wales; even with the COVID-19 restrictions in place, the Association was able to add online training to our arsenal.

A total of 189 umpires officiated in Men’s Premier Cricket this season, including 24 members from affiliated associations, who accepted the opportunity to further their experience.

The umpires appointed to the various NSW Men’s Premier Cricket finals were: First Grade (Belvidere Cup): Sydney v. Manly-Warringah, at Drummoyne Oval – Ben Treloar and Tony Wilds.

By being able to facilitate courses online, we were able to accredit over 180 new umpires and scorers, an outstanding result. The training team can be well pleased with this result.

The Association was unable to facilitate its Annual Convention in a faceto-face capacity, but was able to provide members with a wonderful online alternative that reached all members.

The theme of the Convention was ‘Embrace’, as we headed into a season of unknowns. The theme ensured that members were prepared to be flexible with what may come their way and that they were able to adapt to the everchanging landscape.

The team, which comprised of Clare Crewdson, Dale Bryant, Casey Studden, Jonathon De Lyall, Dennis Harlum and Harjit Singh, set about delivery of training sessions and matches under unprecedented COVID-19 protocols.

The MOV team successfully delivered 88 matches over 80 match days across 10 venues

253 elite turf training sessions across six venues

Quarantine hubs for the Victoria WBBL squads, as well as the Australian and Indian Men’s squads.

MOV played a central role in delivering the WBBL|06 tournament throughout October and November, with 59 matches and 112 training sessions across Sydney over just 35 days. The hard work was rewarded by being on hand to witness Sydney Thunder claim the crown.

As likely mentioned countless times already in this Annual Report, 2020/21 was a season like no other, with COVID-19 having a significant impact on the Match Operations and Venue (MOV) Team.

Fourth Umpire Claire Polosak during the Sydney Pink Test between Australia and India, at the SCG, in January when she became the first female umpire to officiate in a Men’s Test Match.

November also saw the Australian and Indian Men’s squads arrive in Sydney to complete a 14-day quarantine prior to the highly anticipated International Summer, which included two T20Is, two ODIs, two Tour Matches and the New Year’s Pink Test in Sydney.

Despite COVID-19 resulting in no BBL matches in Sydney throughout the preliminary rounds, MOV was excited to play its role in delivering the BBL|10 final at the SCG and delighted to be present for the thrilling decider seeing the Sydney Sixers back-to-back titles.

The season rounded out with WNCL, Sheffield Shield and Marsh Cup rounds across multiple venues in the Greater Sydney area before culminating in the Marsh Cup final at Bankstown Oval with a Blues victory and another title for the Cricket NSW trophy cabinet in 2020/21.

The team would also like to thank Cricket Australia and its staff for its ongoing support in delivering our elite content throughout the 2020/21 season.

Cricket NSW continued to increase its sponsorship revenue during 2020/21 led by strong growth across the W/BBL Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder sponsorship portfolios.

In a challenging and interrupted season due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cricket NSW would like to thank its partners for their support and understanding through this period.

Transport for NSW continues to be a key contributor via our partnership with the State Government which has now entered the 19th year, with the Plan B anti-drink driving campaign again the foundation of the partnership.

Despite the success of our partnership and continued increases in road and vehicle safety and quality, the challenge remains to change driver behaviour behind the wheel to reduce the toll. The key messages remain for everyone:

Our most exciting ‘signing’ of the season was the announcement of the partnership with the NSW Office of Responsible Gambling. Cricket NSW is the first organisation to partner with the Reclaim the Game program, which seeks to address the normalisation of sports betting and raise awareness of the risks associated with gambling.

BBL Principal Partner, iiNet, continued in the men’s front of shirt position and cemented itself as the longest running Principal Partnership across all clubs in the League. Sydney Water continued their successful campaign to educate Sydneysiders about the many benefits – environmental, health, financial and more – of drinking Sydney world class tap water rather than bottled water.

Sydney Water also utilised the partnership to educate cricket fans about water conservation and waste reduction. Our unique partnership spans across the NSW Blues, Breakers, Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder teams. Despite not being able to have a physical presence at-match, Sydney Water successfully engaged fans through the online Sydney Water ‘Whaaata Six’ campaign.

This campaign showcased that our players are hydrated by Sydney world class tap water and fans likewise should use Sydney world class tap water as their main source for hydration.

McDonald’s, Kookaburra, Masuri, Summit Fleet Leasing & Management, Kingsgrove Sports, People & Culture Strategies and Pitcher Partners all continued as valued partners of Cricket NSW. With brand awareness as the objective, humm occupied the front of shirt position on the WBBL uniform and utilised their digital benefits to engage our fanbase through the humm ‘BIG moment’ campaign.

Sydney Thunder WBBL and BBL Principal Partner Mazda, Major Partner HomeWorld and Official Partner Homestar Finance continued to provide support via their respective partnerships for the 2020/21 season.

Chamberlain DIY Garage Doors was welcomed as a partner of Sydney Thunder, taking up the back of shirt and sleeve position on the WBBL uniform. As the first Canberra Presenting Partner, University of Canberra came onboard and had a significant presence at all Manuka Oval matches this season. Sydney Thunder continued its support of OzHarvest, with Homestar Finance also contributing to the fundraising efforts.

CRICKET NSW FOUNDATION Significant steps were taken this year in the growth of the Cricket NSW Foundation. As the charitable arm of the organisation, the Foundation exists to enhance people’s lives through cricket.

The appointment of Dr Mark Nelson as Chair of the Cricket NSW Foundation Advisory Board has provided impetus for fundraising efforts. Dr Nelson has significant experience in philanthropy and is a passionate cricket supporter. Through funds raised this year, a number of projects were piloted in the community. including a visit to the Riverina to promote cricket in rural communities and the awarding of the inaugural Breakers Relocation Fund.

The CBS team supports and services Cricket NSW. It comprises - Finance, Facilities, Administration and Corporate Events, Government Relations and State Infrastructure, and Match and Venue Operations. We also welcome the national technology team into our family.

The team did a terrific job managing the many challenges of COVID-19 during 2020/21. This ranged from hosting the entirety of the WBBL in Sydney, complex rules around the ability of players to train whilst in quarantine, ever-changing rules impacting events, hospitality and crowds at matches, agile financial analysis and planning, downsizing of our East Sydney office, whilst still driving and supporting significant infrastructure development throughout the state. There was also some fantastic collaboration with Cricket Australia and the states, highlighted by a shared commercial model for the BBL, with many matches held in neutral venues, and none in Sydney until the final.

All CBS teams have continued to provide outstanding service to CNSW, with some fantastic achievements that will have enduring benefits. I would like to thank all the CBS staff for their wonderful contribution, commitment and excellence in making a real difference. We look forward to continuing to make CNSW a better place, day by day.

PEOPLE EXPERIENCE

The team has provided many highlights in 2020/21:

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY FY21 proved a very challenging time for the Australian Cricket (AC) Technology team. COVID-19 placed an increased burden on most areas, including technology required at matches in response to the pandemic, and increased enquiry as the national workforce moved on-line. As a result of financial constraints, the AC Technology team reduced its workforce by 23%. Pleasingly, we were also able to reduce other cost areas, with some relief provided by our technology partners in recognition of the pandemic.

As a result of the decrease in staff numbers, there was a streamlining of projects to ensure greater focus and capacity to deliver. The highest priority project is Project Kondo, or the Grassroots project. This is being developed in conjunction with Play HQ and will ultimately replace the MyCricket competition management and player registration platform for all players across the country.

The first stage of the platform went live on 1 July 2021, to be used for Cricket Blast participants. CNSW Chief Operating Officer, Michael Dalton, is a member of the Steering Committee for that project.

In FY21, key local and national initiatives that were completed included: • Significant cost-out program reducing Australian Cricket technology spend by 24% • Design and implement new core data and services infrastructure to support Kondo project • Design and Implement a new common Cricket Identity platform • Improve customer Service Level Agreements and Customer Satisfaction ratings over FY20 through automation The focus for FY22 will be to continue supporting the replacement of the MyCricket platform and ensuring that Australian Cricket is able to deliver on a successful season of cricket.

FACILITIES AND CORPORATE EVENT MANAGEMENT As COVID-19 continued to challenge the team throughout 2020/21, the Facilities team continued to lead and drive the CNSW Return to Work & Training working group in order to support a smooth transition back to normal business functions and the seamless re-opening of all metropolitan and regional office locations.

In January 2021, the Facilities team assisted with the relocation of our ‘East Hub’ office from the UTS building across to the Entertainment Quarter in the AFL building. Whilst reducing our office footprint in the Moore Park area, the EQ office is within close proximity to the SCG, parking, cafés and shops, and provides a hot desk work space and boardroom for all CNSW staff to access. The office is shared with the Cricket Australia and T20 World Cup NSW-based staff.

Most recently, the team has worked in collaboration with the Cricket NSW Foundation team to promote the Cricket NSW Vaccination Initiative, in which Cricket NSW will donate $100 for every staff member and player who receive their COVID-19 vaccination.

Funds will go towards funding Skin Check clinics across NSW. Our goal is to donate more than $20,000, to fund approximately four Skin Check clinics across NSW metropolitan and regional areas.

The 2020/21 corporate event schedule was reformatted on a number of occasions this year as we juggled many government changes and strived to comply with strict COVID-19 restrictions. We were extremely fortunate to be able to host most planned internal and external events this year, in a COVID-safe setting for all stakeholders whilst maintaining a premium event experience, albeit with reduced numbers in some cases.

In 2021/22, the Facilities & Corporate Events team will continue to work closely with the Wilson Park project team as we move into the final stages of development planning and commence the process of our relocation from Herb Elliott Avenue, Sydney Olympic Park. It is an incredibly exciting opportunity for the team, as we look to welcome a new role into the team of GM Venue Management & Development. We look forward to welcoming you to the new centre in 2022!

The finance team’s deliverables and objectives were achieved in 2020/21 and the team continued to provide valuable support to the business.

The team led and supported the financial management of the COVID-19 pandemic impact to the business through regular, accurate and timely reporting of financial information. The information equipped our leaders to make effective and accountable decision-making, resulting in the business achieving an operating result better than budget.

The team has been involved in some key projects in 2020/21, including: • Finance team supported the implementation of an online motor vehicle fleet system and has taken on the administration of this fleet process.

The online system has optimised the process by removing inefficient and ineffective activities.

• Managed the financials, cash flows, governance and the reporting for the NSW Cricket Centre Project at Wilson Park.

• A robust budget for 2021/22 and a four-year financial plan was refreshed; it provided our leaders with key insights into the opportunities and challenges facing the business over the next five years.

In 2021/22, the finance team will continue to focus on providing ongoing support to the business. There is still a level of uncertainty around the financial impact that the COVID-19 pandemic might have on the upcoming cricket season. The Finance team’s ongoing leadership will have a key role in navigating through these challenges. We will need to remain nimble and provide timely and accurate financial information to our leaders for decision-making. Some of our key focus areas for 2021/22 include: • Assist with developing a sustainable funding model for Wilson Park; • Assist with improving financial literacy across the business – partner and collaborate with other ‘Teams’ and ‘Squads’ to support the deliverables; • Improve internal customer experience through enhanced technology – online timesheets for casuals, improve financial reporting and P&L experience; and • A people focus – improve capabilities within the finance team and achieve an uplift in performance.

The organisational restructure supporting new strategic objectives for Cricket NSW has created exciting opportunities for the People & Culture team. Now known as People Experience, the team is part of the Customer & Employee Experience Squad, empowering an increased focus on employee experience.

This year saw some change to the team, farewelling General Manager People & Culture, Bernadette Chehine, and Brad Fendyk, People & Culture Coordinator, who relocated interstate. Vanessa Wende has continued in her role as Organisational Development Manager, along with Gina Crabb as People Experience Advisor. David Moore, in his role as Head of Coach Development, has moved to the People Development team within the Cricket Performance squad to greater impact this strategic focus.

An extensive recruitment process to fill the role of General Manager People Experience has resulted in the appointment of Leigh Kearney, who commenced in July 2021.

This past year has been one like no other for our people. COVID-19 restrictions in NSW changed the way the organisation was able to function and a concentrated focus on our people was key to ensuring operational success.

Regular and consistent feedback loops were put in place to understand how staff were being affected, how they were feeling and the challenges they faced, in order to inform how to best support our workforce. A combination of mental health and wellbeing programs were put in place, as well as coaching and support for managers to lead teams remotely.

As restrictions eased and allowed staff to return to offices across NSW, a hybrid way of working was adopted at Cricket NSW, combining both work from home and work from the office options. This flexibility has seen many benefits for staff and the organisation and we are exploring options for what the future of work looks like at Cricket NSW. Throughout the year, the People Strategy focused on unlocking the full potential of our people to enable our purpose and vision to come to life.

With an employee experience-focus, people programs focused on growth and development of staff across the organisation, including self-guided online learning, career planning conversations and opportunities for professional development.

We also took a more agile approach to performance with the implementation of Culture Amp. This platform has offered a greater focus on development through more regular connectivity as well as dynamic goal setting, continual feedback, self-reflections and reviews that offer a more agile and continual conversation about development.

Engagement survey outcomes continue to inform our programs and strategies. By asking our people how we are tracking across key indicators of engagement, we are able to use their feedback as a critical input into the design of our people initiatives and development programs.

Cricket NSW continued to work collaboratively across Australian Cricket to contribute to the ‘Press for Progress’ report as part of the Australian Cricket Workforce Gender Action Plan. This is important information to help us strengthen our focus on diversity, including what we stand for and how we work.

Government Relations and Infrastructure STRATEGY

INFRASTRUCTURE

In partnership with Cricket Australia and Sports Business Partners (consultant), Cricket NSW released its first state-wide Infrastructure Strategy at the Parliamentary Friends of Cricket event at Parliament House on 12 May, 2021.

The official opening of the Carl Sharpe Cricket Centre at Wade Park was held on Friday, 27 November. The Centre provides a four-lane indoor cricket training facility, an administration office for Cricket NSW staff, community room and gender-neutral change facilities.

The Infrastructure Strategy provides a blueprint which will guide the strategic prioritisation and provision of community cricket infrastructure across NSW over the next 10 years.

Carl Sharpe was an outstanding servant to NSW, NSW Country, Western and Orange cricket. Carl was a regional coach for many years and was awarded the CNSW Coaching Lifetime Achievement, but sadly passed away before receiving the award. There have only been 10 people afforded the honour of this award. The naming of the Centre in Carl’s honour was due recognition for his commitment to country cricket and cricket in NSW.

The outcome is a strategy that reflects the facility needs of grassroots cricket to support growth in participation and improve accessibility to the sport at all levels.

Cricket NSW would like to acknowledge the valuable contribution made by a range of key stakeholders in this project including Cricket Australia, the NSW Government and all our local government partners who are essential to the delivery of cricket in our community.

Cricket NSW would also like to acknowledge the valuable contribution made by all our cricketing communities to ensure the strategy reflects the needs of grassroots cricket in NSW.

Planning is progressing on the redevelopment of the Raby Sports Complex, in Campbelltown, which includes demolishing the existing indoor facility to construct a new six-lane indoor cricket training facility with supporting amenities, all compliant with Cricket Australia’s Facility Guidelines.

The $9 million redevelopment at Waitara Park has commenced.

Stage 1 involves the redevelopment of Mark Taylor Oval, which will commence in August and is due to be completed by March 2022. Stage 2, the construction of a four-lane indoor cricket training facility, will commence in early 2022 with expected completion in the middle of that year.

NSW ICC T20 WORLD CUP 2020 CRICKET LEGACY FUND

THE AUSTRALIAN CRICKET INFRASTRUCTURE FUND

In July 2020, the State Government launched the third and final round of the NSW ICC T20 World Cup 2020 Cricket Legacy Fund (“the Fund”).

The 2020/21 ACIF, which saw two rounds conducted in New South Wales, awarded almost $1.4 million in grants to 39 projects with a total facility development cost of approximately $18.3 million.

The Fund delivered up to $6 million over three years towards facility developments, driving the regional economy through cricket events and growing cricket for women and girls.

Due to the ongoing impact of COVID-19, in line with other programs, Cricket Australia initially applied a 25 per cent reduction for the 2020/21 ACIF funding allocation down to $1.17 million. Pleasingly, thanks to Cricket Australia and the Cricket NSW Board, an additional $218,763 was approved for the second round.

The Fund has been a wonderful initiative by the NSW Government to enhance cricket’s standing as Australia’s favourite sport.

Through cricket’s ongoing commitment to deliver quality cricket facilities in partnership with all levels of government and our local cricket stakeholders, the Australia Cricket Infrastructure Fund also awarded grants to 54 of the 94 infrastructure projects supported through the Fund.

This funding enabled greater capacity of Cricket NSW Infrastructure and Community Cricket staff to support more councils, clubs, associations, and schools in the delivery of worthy and essential facility projects across the state.

Through Australian Cricket’s various facility grant programs dating back to 2013, including the current ACIF, Cricket Australia, Cricket NSW and the Australian Cricketers’ Association have provided $6.44 million in funding to 291 projects worth almost $70 million.

Cricket NSW CEO Lee Germon is joined by then Acting Minister for Sport Dr Geoff Lee, Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley, Blues player Trent Copeland and other dignitaries for the official sod turning to mark the start of construction for the new NSW Cricket Centre in January.

GOVERNMENT RELATIONS Cricket relies heavily on its great working relationship with all levels of government to ensure every season is a success; however this took on a completely different character leading into the 2020/21 cricket season.

Thanks to the support and hard work of officials from the NSW Office of Sport and various members of the NSW Government, the 2020/21 cricket season went ahead safely and successfully.

The collaboration commenced months before a ball was bowled – from the development of COVID-safe Guidelines for community sport, quarantine measures for touring international teams, a quarantine hub for the Women’s Big Bash League, the staging of the Sydney Test whilst Sydney was in the middle of an outbreak and the completion of the women’s and men’s domestic seasons under a constantly moving situation of state border closures and lockdowns.

In fact, right up until the last match which saw New South Wales take on Queensland in the Marsh Sheffield Shield, at North Dalton Park in Wollongong, the cooperation of the NSW Government was fundamental, as Brisbane went into lockdown the day the Queensland men were due to fly to Sydney.

The first sod of soil for the NSW Cricket Centre was officially turned on Wednesday, 27 January.

The NSW Cricket Centre at Wilson Park, in Sydney Olympic Park, has been made possible through the support and significant funding contributions of the NSW and Federal Governments, Cricket Australia and Cricket NSW. At the event, the local Member for Reid, Dr Fiona Martin MP, acknowledged that the Centre would be used year-round to support cricket at all levels and abilities.

NSW Government representative and Parliamentary Friends of Cricket Co-Chair, Mr Alister Henskens MP, also highlighted the importance of the facility for the NSW cricket community.

Construction has commenced for Stage 1 which includes a full-size International Cricket Council compliant oval, at least 50 outdoor turf practice nets, a 15-lane indoor cricket training facility, administration headquarters, a high-performance gym and recovery facilities. Expected completion of Stage 1 is mid-2022.

CLIFF WINNING LIBRARY REPORT 2020/21

Cricket NSW sincerely thanks everyone across all tiers of government for making the 2020/21 cricket season possible.

The morning tea was well attended by the then acting Minister for Sport, the Hon Dr Geoff Lee and the then Leader of the Opposition, Jodi McKay, as well as nearly fifty members of the upper and lower houses.

During the closure, Co-Librarian Dr Colin Clowes and Associate Librarian Colin Jefferies continued with the immense ongoing task of providing upgrades of State and Premier player statistics. Our collection of statistics for players achieving 5000 runs or 200 wickets has been enlarged to include major players who spent little career time playing Premier cricket because of their commitment to first class cricket. Dr Clowes was available to fulfil various requests to provide backgrounding material for a variety of Cricket NSW needs. We thank our other willing Associate Librarians, Michael Falk and Richard Cook, who have continued on their long task of computerising our library collection of books and documents.

We continued with our purchasing of new volumes and we received most of our regular periodicals as they became available. Very few items missed publication and all resumed after a short period.

During our brief time back, we have had important visitors, including Peter Lloyd, who used some of our resources for his wonderful book on Bradman memorabilia. He is currently visiting in the preparation of his planned book on Warren Bardsley. David Anstice visited from Pennsylvania carrying out bibliographic research on various cricket publications we hold. Patrick Rodgers worked on material concerning the Sydney Club. Lyall Gardner OAM delivered his magnificent four volume history of Randwick Petersham club entitled “Heroes of the Ages”. He is congratulated on his dedication and perseverance in providing the history.

We thank and appreciate support from Lee German and Melissa Scott throughout the pandemic period and appreciate the opportunity to resume our treasured task.
