My name is Stephanie Te Ohaere-Fox and I play for the Canterbury Farah Palmer Cup side, alongside recently becoming the Rugby Manager at Christchurch Football Club. This week is a really special week for our side, with the FPC team qualifying for our sixth consecutive final, the fifth one we have had at We’rehome. super determined to end the season off on a high and help celebrate a couple of really special milestones. Kendra Cocksedge will play her 100th and final match for Canterbury on Saturday, while Pip Love will play her 50th. Those milestones give us some great motivation, not that we need any more, to go out there and get a result that we are really proud of. With this match also being my last for Canterbury, it is an honour to have Rugby Park renamed for the week alongside Kenj, with Rugby Park bearing the Te Ohaere-Fox and Cocksedge names for the final. I can’t wait to get out there to play for my region and mates, and I implore you to come and Welcome to finals week! support us on Saturday, with entry at the gate just $5 and kids free. Outside of the final, the boys are also playing, hosting Northland on Sunday for Ray White’s Biggest Open Home. LINE UP SET FOR MILESTONE GAME AT TE COCKSEDGEOHAERE-FOXPARKSTORYFEATURE
Head Coach Blair Baxter has named a strong side to host this weekend’s Premiership Final, with Pip Love and Kendra Cocksedge in line to start for Canterbury, bringing up 50 and 100 games respectively for the Alongsideprovince. those milestones, the match also signals the end of two Canterbury legend’s careers, with centurion Stephanie Te Ohaere-Fox joining Cocksedge in playing her final game for Canterbury. “It’s a truly special weekend, not only because we are in the final, however it’s great to also have the chance to celebrate three legends.” said Baxter.
“Having Rugby Park renamed after Steph and Kendra, it’s pretty humbling and great recognition for two centurions.” “Pip Love has been an absolute stalwart of our game and she’s now racked up close to 80 FPC games (for both Otago and Canterbury). We know the mahi she has put in to be in the position she is in today, and it’s an awesome opportunity to celebrate her this weekend too.”
Alongside Love, the return of Amy Rule sees Canterbury name a Black Ferns front row, with Georgia Ponsonby also packing down the scrum.

STORY FEATURE In celebration of two Canterbury legends, Canterbury Rugby Union has today announced the venue in which the Bunnings Farah Palmer Cup Premiership Final will be played at, Rugby Park in Christchurch, will be known as “Te Ohaere-Fox, Cocksedge Park” for the week leading up to and including the Grand WithFinal.Steph Te Ohaere-Fox (111 caps) and Kendra Cocksedge (99) revealing that Saturday’s final will be their last games in red and black, CEO Tony Smail thought it was a fitting way in which their contributions could be recognised. “What both of these women have given to rugby in Canterbury is something pretty remarkable.” “It’s not often venues are named after women, especially when they’re still playing, so to be able to have their families attend on Saturday at the ground named after their daughter, grand-daughter, mother, sister, aunty, friend or niece will hopefully just add to the significance of the occasion.” The Bunnings Warehouse Farah Palmer Cup Premiership Final between Canterbury and Auckland on Saturday 10 September kicks off at 3:05, kids go free with a paying adult. Adults $5. The match will also be broadcast live on SKY Sport.

RUGBY PARK NAMED AFTER TWO CANTERBURY LEGENDS

CANTERBURY NAME STRONG SIDE TO HEADLINE RAY WHITE’S

BIGGEST OPEN HOME STORY FEATURE Senior prop Daniel Lienert-Brown returns to the number one jumper for Ray White’s Biggest Open home clash against Northland on Sunday. DLB, who earnt his second blazer (62 caps) for Canterbury in last week’s win over Hawke’s Bay, will be joined by Shilo Klien at hooker, who returns after not featuring in last two weeks and back up rake Brodie McAlister, who’s been out for 3 weeks with a shoulder injury. “It’s always good to have cavalry coming back online at this time of year” said forwards coach Craig “WeDunlea.got through three games in 10 days with three great results and not too many dinged up players, so we’re really focused on the next phase of our year.” Luke Romano packs down alongside Sam Darry in the second row, with the loose forward trio remaining the Willisame.Heinz gets his second start of the season at halfback, pairing up with Fergus Burke at 10. Dallas McLeod slots back into the starting midfield alongside Rameka Poihipi at 12, while George Bridge, Ngatungane Punivai and Chay Fihaki will continue their electric combination in the back three. “It’s been great for our guys to form strong, consistent combinations. We know what they’re capable of, which is exciting rugby, we’re certainly looking forward to more of that,” said back Coach Alex Robertson. Along with McAlister, Tamaiti Williams and Seb Calder will provide front row cover, with Dominic Gardiner and Liam Allen adding their impact to the second row and loose forwards. Mitch Drummond, Alex Harford and Isaiah Punivai have been named in jerseys 21, 22 & 23.
“It really a testament to the whole squad, we have genuine competition in all positions so picking the best suited 23 is a real challenge, we know Northland are coming here to show their success this year is no fluke.” said Head Coach Marty Bourke, “The whole team knows it’s going to be a real good test for us this weekend and we look forward to playing in front our passionate supporters once again.” Bourke also added a message to the Canterbury fans, calling on them to add their voice to the crowd at Orangetheory Stadium. “There’s nothing better than afternoon rugby, our boys are playing exciting footy, and we’d love the people of Canterbury to be there, enjoying themselves and being proud of their team, as we saw on weekend the value of our supporters is great as it helped us pull through that last 20 minutes to get the result over Hawkes Bay.”

CALDER MAKING THE MOST OF CANTERBURY OPPORTUNITIES
STORY FEATURE
The youth and exuberance of players such as Seb and other New Zealand U20 teammates such as George Bell and Joel Lam have helped create a unique environment in Canterbury this season, with the team currently top of the Odds conference after 6 games.
“It’s a really cool environment and it’s quite a different culture from other teams I have been a part of.” Calder said, “It’s a fun environment that everyone gets along in and it makes you feel really welcome.”
Calder has already got a Crusaders cap to his name, featuring for the Super side against the Western Force this season, while the prop was also a member of the victorious New Zealand Under 20’s side, a couple of facts that leave you with no doubt in your mind that this is a young prop with a big future ahead of him.

Calder starts on the bench this weekend against Northland, with the NPC team looking to continue their current form and maintain their spot at the head of the ladder.
New to the NPC squad in 2022, Lincoln University’s Seb Calder is loving being a part of the red & black this season, following making his Canterbury debut against Manawatu back in Round 1. The St Andrew’s junior has made the most of his opportunities this season, being used across both sides of the scrum and making his mark when called “It’supon.a childhood dream to play for Canterbury” said Calder, “It’s really special to be involved with this group and it’s been an awesome experience so far.” Playing in the front row, Seb has enjoyed having the chance to learn from experienced veterans, with the likes of 108-test All Black Owen Franks, Oli Jager and Daniel Lienert-Brown all in the 2022 squad. “I certainly thought a few years ago that I wouldn’t be in this position, let alone being teammates with someone like Owen Franks. I’ve been trying to learn as much as I can of him and the other props and I’m pretty grateful for that opportunity.”
