Meet Your MCHS Key Club President!
MCHS Key Club President Position Holder: Melinda Zhou Term Length: 1 Year (2020-21) Division 3W Texas-Oklahoma Dear Mayde Creek Key Club, My name is Melinda Zhou and I will be serving as your President for the 2020-2021 School Year. I am a current senior at Mayde Creek and this is my 4th and final year being a part of the club! I am a part of FBLA and serve as their VP, SNHS and serve as their treasurer, NHS, and Academic UIL. I know this year holds a lot of challenges but I look forward to working with you all alongside my officers. My responsibilities as President include overseeing the club in its entirety including running meetings, reaching out to event sponsors, organizing/planning events, and other administrative duties involving our district 3W. This year I hope to create new fun and interactive volunteer events for you all even during the pandemic! I look forward to having an amazing year with you all. MCHS Key Club Vice President Position Holder: Jonathan H. Term Length: 1 Year (2020-21) Division 3W Texas-Oklahoma Dear Mayde Creek Key Club, My name is Jonathan Huang and I will be serving as your Vice President for the 2020-2021 School Year. I am currently a Junior at Mayde Creek High School and have been in Key Club since my Freshman Year. Besides Key Club, I am also a part of Academic UIL, Academic Decathlon, Future Business Leaders of America, Student Council, and also serve as the Treasurer for the Class of 2022. Within Key Club, my responsibilities are to keep in touch with the President and reside over meetings whenever she is not available. Additionally, I also work closely with the other officers and members to ensure that we are on track. This year, although we have been affected by COVID-19, we are all working harder than ever to make our organization succeed. As a result, I look forward to having an amazing year with you all. MCHS Key Club Secretary Position Holder: Rebecca Tu Term Length: 1 Year (2020-21) Division 3W Texas-Oklahoma Dear Mayde Creek Key Club, My name is Rebecca Tu for the 2020-2021 School Year. Currently, I am a Junior at Mayde Creek, and I’ve served as an active member of Key Club for 3 years now! Along with Key Club, I also participate in many other extra-curricular our school has to offer such as FBLA, Varsity Orchestra, Student Council, and I’m also a class officer for the Class of 2022. As the Secretary for Key Club, my responsibilities include keeping up with the mandatory monthly reports, taking notes for every meeting, recording minutes, keeping records of important information, and allotting important information to the other officers. I hope to keep the spirit of Key Club alive throughout these rough circumstances and continue working behind the scene to get Key Club running. I look forward to having an amazing year with you all. MCHS Key Club Treasurer Position Holder: Emily Zhang Term Length: 1 Year (2020-21) Division 3W Texas-Oklahoma Dear Mayde Creek Key Club, My name is Emily Zhang and I will be serving as your Treasurer for the 2020-2021 School Year. I am a current sophomore who is looking forward to the future in which our officers will create for our fellow key clubbers. I’m in many extracurriculars such as varsity orchestra and FBLA. I am the current treasurer for both Key Club and Class of 2023. my role as a treasurer is to make sure that all key club member are to turn in their fees within the deadline. Reminders will be sent out regarding our fees and how to pay it online. I will also be responsible for any possible fundraisers happening in the future. MCHS Key Club Historian Position Holder: Keren Aguila Term Length: 1 Year (2020-21) Division 3W Texas-Oklahoma Dear Mayde Creek Key Club, My name is Keren Aguila and I will be serving as your Historian for the 2020-2021 School Year. As of now, I am a sophomore at Mayde Creek who is involved in multiple extracurriculars and clubs. Some of those being StuCo, in which I hold a position as CO23 president, Key Club, Varsity Orchestra, and as an Assistant Director at a Youth service program.I love to volunteer and help out my community in whichever way possible. As historian, I am in charge of managing Key Club’s social medias, making sure members are informed of all activities, and taking pictures of all club events. For this school year, I plan on further developing our connection with our Key Club community and creating memories that will last us a lifetime. 2020-2021 Event Idea Details Teacher Assistant Idea: MCHS Teachers can submit a Google Form requesting assistance for tasks that students are able to assist/help with. Members that apply for this event will be assigned to a teacher and be forwarded task requests. Depending on the teacher and task, some may also work in groups. Ultimately, this event will be based on teacher needs.Â
Student Tutoring Idea: The Student Tutoring event is a virtual event made to connect High School Students to KISD Elementary Students through a video call. You will be responsible for reading and tutoring students while displaying a positive attitude throughout the whole session. You will NOT need any former experience in tutoring, but must show proof of prior academic abilities. (Event is PENDING!)
Nursing Home Idea: Nursing Home Buddies, or "Adopt a Nursing Home" will be an event where members can participate by sending comforting words to local nursing home facilities. Members will be asked to create handwritten cards or messages and/or have virtual conversations with the elderly to help brighten up their day and to put a smile on their faces!

Editor's Note September, 2020 Hey Mayde Creek Key Club, My name is Fariba Hossain and I am a current sophomore at MCHS! How has school been going so far? For me, it has been a lot more stressful than August! AP Chemistry truly does make me question my own academic abilities and sanity. However, in terms of Key Club, I am honored to be given this opportunity to serve our school and organization.
