Math Monkey HI, I’M MATH MONKEY. Just how smart are monkeys? According to scientists, they are as smart as a 3 year-old child. Guess what — I’m even smarter! My name is Math Monkey. I can do basic math addition and multiplication! William Robertson first created me in 1916-1918, in the US. Thanks to Mr. Robertson for adding so much fun to math!

WHAT IS MATH ADDITION? Addition is the most basic operation in mathematics. When we add, we bring two numbers (or things) together to form a larger total number. The symbol for this is ‘+’ (plus).

Here is a 1 banana, to which we add 1 more banana. The result is 2 bananas.

1+1=2 Now, try this!

2 + 3 = ___ LET ME TELL YOU THE ANSWERS! When you want to check the answer, just ask me! Slide my left foot to ‘2’, and then my right foot to ‘3’. Now, look at the answer circle between my hands. The number ‘5’ is displayed! Did you get the correct answer?
