For example, due to the fact that digital storytelling inherently produces cross-border content that is ‘genre agnostic’, securing public financing has proven to be challenging. Public funds are often tied to specific countries, platforms or genres. European digital storytelling content is also at risk of being crowded out by its US counterpart. A coordinated European strategy for supporting this type of content, either through public funding or a mix between public and private funding, could strengthen European content and its circulation.
