Chris Oyakhilome Explains How Jesus Has Enlarged the Idea of Love... What exactly is the 2nd greatest order? If you're a student of Scripture, a believer, it's possible that you just said something like "Love your neighbor as yourself." In the event you did, you'd be right nearly. "Love the Lord your God with all of your soul and with all your heart and with your entire thoughts, Jesus himself said. This really https://uspeakoutnow.wordpress.com/2009/10/06/a-prayer-for-ou-pastor-chris-oyakhilome/ is the greatest and first commandment. And the second is like it: "Adore your neighbor as yourself." (Matthew 22:37-39, ESV). And this was Jesus' response to the inquiry, "Which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" - referring, to the Law of Moses, of course.

People come to me, Pastor Chris, as head of Christ Pastor Chris Embassy and have questions about the most important commandment. Until Jesus came, the second greatest command as stated in the Old Testament (Leviticus 19) was wholly adequate. Actually, I believe it was the http://www.godtube.com/watch/?v=M1EMNNNU best we could hope for in terms of loving another human being.

But throw to the mix the undeniable fact that sometimes we don't even love ourselves. Sometimes we are able to genuinely fight to like that which we are, what we do, and certainly who we are. Just how can we be expected to love others as we love ourselves if we do know the way to love ourselves? There are days when many folks fight merely to be pleasant to ourselves. So how can we love better? The answer is given by Jesus.

In the gospel of John, Jesus said, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: Just as I've loved you, you also are to love one another." Jesus has lifted the bar. Not that he's made it tougher to love (quite the contrary: With this particular command he also promises to pour out the love of God into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, so empowering us to adore beyond human ability), but the theory of love itself has been raised!
