Painting & Decorating Level 3 Diploma Course Length: 1 year
Entry Requirements
The Centre for Construction and Heritage Skills has well equipped workshops and our tutors have many years of experience in their industry. Painting and Decorating courses are designed to develop your skills and knowledge, enabling you to work in the industry of your chosen craft. Courses have been specifically developed to be delivered in a training environment using simulated conditions, and the tests are based on you showing what you can do as an individual through the completion of the requirements of the qualification. The core includes health and safety, building methods and construction technology. You will cover a wide breadth of skills, knowledge and understanding including techniques, planning and estimating. You will learn about the construction industry, and how it is structured with the different members of the building team, and the range of jobs within the industry. External projects are in place for you to take your new found skills into the community to work on a variety of worthwhile projects plus opportunities to work on some heritage sites to further develop your skills. You may be selected to spend two weeks on additional training on a live heritage site in Romania.
Units of study may include Apply Paint Materials, Apply Paint Systems Using Airless Spray Equipment, Building Methods in the Building Industry, Carry out Specialist Architectural Feature Work, eg. Set Out and Install Centre Pieces, Communication, Construction Industry Regulations Covering & Producing Textured Features Using a Variety of Tools & Methods, Developing Supervisory/Management Skills, Hang Complex Papers, New Technologies Used in the Construction Industry, Organisation, Planning & Programming Work Activities, Produce Advanced Specialist Decorative Effects, eg. Frotage, Gilding, Graining & Marbling, Safe Working Practices, Sustainability, Workplace Safety
−− 4 GCSEs A*-D including English and Maths or Level 2 Diploma
Painting & Decorating Level 1 Foundation Diploma

Painting Ceilings, Walls, Woodwork & Metalwork Using Appropriate Brushes & Rollers, Hang Basic Wallpapers, Prepare Surfaces for Decoration, Prepare the Work Area for Decorative Operations, Storing Materials & Equipment, Using Correct Lifting Techniques, Working Efficiently

Entry Requirements
Units of study may include Apply Paint Materials, Apply Paint Systems Using Airless Spray Equipment, Ensure Good Working Relationships, Erect & Dismantle Access Equipment, Hang Standard Wallpapers, Produce Basic Specialist Decorative Effects, Produce Drawn Information eg. Plans, Rag Rolling, Stipling & Sponging, Use Information & Communicate Effectively
