5 SEPTEMBER 2025
Message from the Head of Prep
It was wonderful to welcome everyone back to school yesterday morning and to see the children’s bright, smiling faces as they reconnected with friends. Even though there were some tears of nervousness, they soon gave way to smiles and excitement about what lay ahead.
Before we look forward to the journey awaiting us, let us take a moment to reflect on the achievements of our outgoing Year 11 cohort. Over the summer, we celebrated a wonderful first set of GCSE results. There were some outstanding individual performances, with our highest achieving pupil receiving 9 Grade 9s, plus an A grade (the highest grade possible) in Additional Maths. Knowing many of the boys from their time in our Prep, I was delighted to see what they had accomplished with 74% of all grades at Grades 9-6 (the old A*-B) and nearly half of all grades at Grades 9-7 (the old A*/A); both of these measures are more than twice the national average.

I must thank all of the staff involved with preparations over the summer for the new academic year, putting in the time and effort to make sure the needs of the children are at the forefront of what they do. Thank you also to our parent body for your continued support. I know that the coming weeks will be busy as the children settle back into the routine of school, but I hope that I will have the opportunity to meet and speak with you at our upcoming information evenings, at drop-off or collection.
Wishing you all a pleasant weekend.

A Message from our Chaplaincy Team
This Week
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life. Do not worry about what you will eat or drink; or about your body and what you will wear. Is there not more to life than food, and more to your body than clothes?
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?’
Reflection
Welcome back, everyone, to a new school year. It is always a little daunting starting a new school year. We have many different emotions: excited, worried and perhaps many others. But we are reminded in our reading not to worry. God has your back, He sees you and He loves you. Learn this week to listen to God’s voice to hear those words of affirmation: you can do this.
Prayer
Lord, bring peace and calm to the storms that I may face this week or this year. Help me to listen to your words of affirmation and of love. Help me this year to be my best and to know that you have me in the palm of your hands. I make this prayer through Christ our Lord.
Amen
“May today there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be.”
