Summer Concert At 7:30 on Wednesday 8th of May, the Summer Concert of 2013 began. The many hours of practice that had been put in in preparation promised for a spectacular evening; and I can safely say that no one was disappointed. The concert involved a large number of pupils and staff to organise and perform in the many ensembles and from Loveday alone we had about 12 performers including Dan Evans, Harry Moore, Giorgio Bounous, Ally Smith, Alex Hills, Tom StandonJewell, Milo Livesey, Tom Cooper, Eddie Mitchell, Angus Barrett, Ben Mills and Ian Lee. This turnout of musicians from the House is promising for the next Loveday House music evening: Loveday has been a house known for its musical talent in recent years. We also had a great amount of support from the House for which I thank you all. All in all, it was a fantastic night for the audience and performers alike and I look forward to next year’s concert which I urge you to go to, for if it is as good as this one, it will not be an evening to forget. Special thanks must go to our very own Mr Wilson who, along with several other members of staff, made the evening possible Alex Hills Junior Badminton The team consisted of James Harris, Angus Barrett, Charlie Gilbert and Jamie Linford. We also had an extra member of our squad, Joss Pinnington, who must get a special mention for stepping up to the mark after an absent James Harris. Our first match was against East, with Jamie and Charlie winning easily. Joss and Angus also won their match. Then James Harris subbed in for Joss and we played a very confident North side that of course we beat with ease. We then played against Cubitt, and we won overall with Jamie and Charlie winning all of their matches comfortably and James and Angus also winning their matches. Loveday performed very well as per usual. Jamie Linford House Swimming There were a lot of close finishes in this year’s house swimming and we came a very close 2nd behind North on points. In the seniors, we had Brad, Kevwe, Kindon, Lane and Chan. There were a few easy wins from Kev’s butterfly, and Brad’s freestyle. And the others three tried their best and got some good results. A special mention must go to Linford, Bill, Kola and Giorgio, as they were the only 4 people who swum

all the races for the inters, with Linford coming 2nd in the 50m free style narrowly losing to the winner. We came 3rd in both relays. Kola Fadahunsi won his butterfly with sensational style. Giorgio did backstroke and came 2nd. Bill Bathurst did the individual medley and came 2nd. In the junior boys, there were mixed results, we won some, we lost some but the effort was indeed there. With Will Mundy coming 2nd in the breast stroke and IM relays and in the front crawl relay we came 3rd. Harry Binnion came 4th in the IM but carried on through till the end with true house spirit. Daniel Evans did a lot, he came 2nd in most of his events. The highlight of the afternoon must go to the final race, it was the first ever 'House Captain Race'. And our very own Captain Nick Kelly won the race by only a few inches spare to North's Luke Boyd. It was just a shame it didn't count towards the main score… Oscar Chan Senior House Water Polo This year we had three 1st team players in the Loveday Team. North were the favourites, and we were unfortunate to be picked to play them in the first round. Despite giving it our best effort we tried our best against them, and we only narrowly lost to them by six goals to one with Oscar Chan scoring a fantastic goal in the top right hand corner. There were some brilliant skills from Brad Skills and defending from Tom Lane. And it was good to see Kelly, Kevwe, Clift, Berry and Bathurst stepping up to play when we were short on players. Oscar Chan House athletics After losing arguably in the previous year to Cubitt, due to bad weather conditions, this year Loveday proved to be the true champions. The senior boys lead the house excellently, with wins from Angus Young in the 1500m and in the 800m, Ali Hills in the 400m, and Kuziva in the 100m and 200m. Although after losing the
