LOGISTICS With an estimated biomass storage capacity of 180,000 cubic yards, the repository would accept 18,000 cubic yards of biomass per year over a 10-year period. A cord is 4.75 cubic yards and weighs approximately one metric ton depending on the type of wood (softwood) and the moisture content*. Each live bottom truck load would carry in 11.5 tons of biomass, equivalent to 5.75 tons of carbon by weight*. According to American Forests, each ton of wood equates to 1.7 metric tons of avoided CO2.

A single live-bottom bulk trailer can carry 54.5 yards per truck load. It would require 331 truck loads per year, just 6.6 deliveries on average per week.
