This year before my visit to the Lake District I discovered Wainwright’s rather excellent Pictorial Guides which have proved invaluable in inspiring my walks and finding new routes besides being truly beautiful books.

Now in our fourth year of annual visits I’ve once again collected interesting facts and figures from my latest journeys. This time it won’t be another year before I go again, I plan on visiting by myself next spring. I would once again recommend a trip if nothing more than to enjoy the scenery.
