22 January 2025 Re: RESIDENCE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS/QUERIES Dear Residence Applicant Please see some useful information on your Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) that will assist you during this registration process below: FAQ’s & A’s on Residence Application Statuses FAQ 1: KF- FIRST TIME APPLICANT – Pending A 1: FIRST-YEAR STUDENT APPLIED FOR RESIDENCE Residence Placement is an ongoing process, and the statuses are updated daily thus, you are requested to constantly check. Students should email Residencec@cput.ac.za for the District Six and Mowbray campuses and Residenceb@cput.ac.za for the Belville and Wellington campuses. Please do not come to residences unless your accommodation is confirmed. If students have not received a communication/ or your status has not changed on SOS by the 15th of February 2025. Regrettably, your application is unsuccessful. FAQ 2: KF- RETURNING STUDENTS – PENDING A 2: RETURNING STUDENTS THAT WERE FIRST YEARS IN THE 2024 ACADEMIC YEAR: These students’ statuses are subject to confirmation of funding (NSFAS/ BURSARIES), and this process is expected to be concluded on Friday, 24th January 2025, all statuses will be changed following such confirmation. FAQ 3: KB – RESIDENCE- RESIDENCE FULL TO CAPACITY A 3: Regrettably, our bed spaces are limited, the number of beds available has been allocated, and the student is advised to make alternative accommodations. FAQ 4: K1-THE STATUS IS K1 – RESIDENCE DECLINED ACAD CRIT (APPEALS PROCESS) A 4: These students do not meet the requirements for placement due to their academic performance. Application for appeals was opened on the 21st of December 2024 and is now closed. Such appeals run in sequence with other University appeals, such as Faculty and Financials, and are still under review, and communication will be sent to students when the committee has concluded. The primary conclusion date is the end of February, but it is subject to change as other processes fold. FAQ 5: K0- DECLINED 60KM RADIUS A 5: Our Residence Placement Policy provisions are that if your high school is within a 60km radius, regrettably we cannot accommodate your applications. Students are encouraged to make alternative accommodation arrangements.
