The Extended Curriculum Programme (ECP) is for prospective South African Nursing students who meet the minimum admission requirements, but may fall short on the admission point score (APS) for the mainstream programme.

WHAT YOU NEED

Minimum Admission Requirements

National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with a Bachelors pass:

• English Home Language or First Additional Language (4)

• Mathematics (3); or Mathematical Literacy (4)

• Life Sciences (4) or Physical Sciences (4)

The department utilises an Academic Point Score (APS) as selection criteria once your minimum admission requirements are satisfied. You therefore need to score a minimum of:

• 27–29 for Bachelor of Nursing (Extended) Curriculum Programme)

Preference will be given to candidates with higher APS scores. Students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Additional Admission Requirements

As part of selection process, you will be invited for an interview. You will need to provide proof of your first completed Hepatitis B immunisation schedule that will continue, South African Nursing Council (SANC) related indemnity, and other forms.

Please note: The Faculty of Health and Wellness Sciences annually receives a high volume of applications, and placement in the programmes is limited. As a result, the Faculty prioritises first-choice applications, and therefore recommends that applicants use their second- and thirdchoice application options at alternate faculties within CPUT.
