Manila Swing
Swing dancing began within the African American community between the 1920s 1930s and spread beyond in different variations and styles afterwards. Following a fun and upbeat tempo, each style has its own distinct steps. Hallmarks of the dance remain improvisation and free spiritedness which is why swing dancing is still a popular form of social dancing. The variation of swing dance showcased tonight is Manila Swing, a branch of swing that was developed in the Philippines, incorporated with East Coast style stunts.
