TABLE OF CONTENTS

President’s Address Good evening my Barkada members! Welcome to Barkada’s 30th annual Pilipinx American Culture Night! My name is Neil Medrano and I am glad and honored to be working as Barkada’s president on the 2019-2020 Barkada’s Executive Board. Tonight’s Pilipinx American Culture Night marks the 30th year we have done this event. Three decades of Barkada members both new and old, celebrating and remembering the dances of our ancestors and bringing issues of what is going on in the Pilipinx-American community as we stand today. Every year is different. A different story, a different collection of dances, and even times where we add new suites or a new form of dance comes in. Even though each is different, all of Barkada’s culture nights come for the sole purpose of what is said, and tonight’s play “Kailangan Kita” is just as special as the past 29. Although I say tonight is special, I did not expect this kind of special. COVID-19, also known as Coronavirus, and the aftereffects of the spread has caused the circumstances to where we are today. As of today, this is the first ever virtual PACN the club has ever held. Nothing is ever as euphoric and as memorable as the joys of a physical PACN, but I want you all to be acknowledged for the hard work you all put in. I want to thank everyone, the members, who came to practices, the coordinators, who put in even more work coordinating the dances, the committees, who put in the work behind the scenes, and my Bougi-E Board, especially Alexa and Jazzerine, for they have spent the longest time out of all this, planning since the start. COVID-19 has broken us down, but Barkada will rise together stronger than ever. Kailangan Kita has themes of hope and the future in its play. As times are tough right now, I wish you all hope. With this program, and our alternative to PACN, we strive to let none of our work not go unnoticed. We strive to let our ancestors and their culture not go unnoticed. We strive to let our future culture nights shine even brighter for the darker times we have to go through. Thank you everyone for attending our practices and making it to this point. Hope everyone home is staying safe and enjoying a Bougi-E quarantine. Until next time. Neil Terrel Medrano

CAL POLY POMONA’S BARKADA Barkada in Tagalog means “a group of friends.” We are a group of friends whose aim is to promote the recognition and understanding of the Pilipino culture at the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and our surrounding community.

ATHLETICS This organization would not exist if we weren’t students first. Barkada aims to push students to succeed in their academics. When they reach the end of their academic career, they are celebrated with the annual Pilipino Graduation. The Academics pillar also fosters the Kuya/Ate/Ading program, which is our membership program between older and younger Barkada members.

SOCIAL Socials help our members get to know each other and help them unwind from the stresses of school and work. We aim to help strengthen our bond as a club as well as help members improve their social skills. Social events include Barkada’s participation in CSUF’s annual Friendship Games, ice skating, Round 1, and our end of the year banquet.

CULTURE Our role as an organization is to bring awareness of the Pilipino culture. We do this by having culture corners at bi-weekly general meetings, hosting Pilipino American History Month events, and having the annual Pilipino American Culture Night. Not only do we emphasize Pilipino culture, but we help students understand the identity of Pilipino-American culture as well.

LETTER FROM THE B.E.C.C. Thank you to everyone who supported our decision regarding the cancellation of our PACN XXX practices indefinitely due to the COVID-19. CPP Barkada’s 30th Annual Pilipinx American Culture Night (PACN XXX) was supposed to take place on April 11, 2020 at the Arcadia Performing Arts Center. The decision did not come lightly, but we decided that it would be the best for everyone’s health and safety. I would like to acknowledge that although some of us are privileged to have strong and healthy immune systems, there are those who are immunocompromised. We may not know everyone’s stories and it is important for us to take care and advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves due to their conditions. As the Stay At Home order has been extended, we must do our best to stay healthy not just for ourselves but for our loved ones as well. Even though we are not able to hold our culture night physically, we can still find a way to fully celebrate our culture. BougiE Board will be hosting the 30th annual Pilipinx American Culture Night virtually through zoom. We will all get through this as long as we stand together as one. No matter the platform, our culture will shine through and the show will go on. Pilipinx American Culture Night gave me a place to be myself. I wasn’t the perfect performer and I wasn’t even close to it, but there was a reason why I always came back. I wanted to continue and better the space that was provided for me and every member of Barkada by my predecessors. We have this space for everyone to get together and celebrate ourselves and what we all have in common - our culture. The most memorable event for me in my first year in Barkada was PACN. My first year, I believe I participated in three to four dances and I was able to create stronger friendships with the people I consider lifetime friends now. I didn’t know what I was really getting into as the following year, I was lucky enough to be asked to be one of the Mindanao co-coordinators. I also had enough time to participate as an actor and as a dancer. I gained valuable insight about myself and my leadership style. My experience as a member slowly transitioned into being a leader through PACN. My third year, I unfortunately was not able to participate in the play or perform. I was more in the background of things, and I really got to understand how this whole production worked. There were things that I definitely missed and wished took a part of because of how good the production was. The more involved I got with each production, the more I appreciated the culture behind performing arts. This year, I was able to serve Barkada as the Barkada Entertainment Company Coordinator. The amount of work and effort that I saw through the members, the coordinators, the whole board made every minute of my term worth it. All the late nights, and the late late nights, were accompanied by friends who shared the same passion. Although the Bougie babies were not able to experience this in their first year, I am sure that they would have also made so many memories with each other as they already have. Of course, there is always next year and I hope that everyone gets the full experience of PACN. The nights where you see all your hard work coming together; the nights where you see how much everyone has gotten closer and closer; the nights where everyone is exhausted but we support and encourage each other until the end. The night of the performance is where everyone lets go and just perform their hearts out. I will definitely miss that and I am glad to have been a part of all of it. I am so excited for what the future holds for all the babies and the general members. I believe that you will all create a huge impact. As much as I enjoyed my time as the BECC, nothing beats performing itself. I miss performing. I miss looking forward to practices. There were days where I just watched everyone and wished that I could partake in, if not all, some of the dances. As much as it was a privilege to serve you all as the BEC Coordinator this year, I wish that I had the time or made the time to perform alongside all of you and created more memories. Nevertheless, I wish that I was able to provide a space for everyone to perform and to indulge in our culture. At times where it was hard, you all gave me the motivation to keep pushing forward. No matter where we are, our culture will always find us and it is our choice to give back to our culture as much as it has provided a home for all of us. Kailangan natin ang bawat isa. Please continue to check on your friends and relatives.

Salamat, Your BougiE Board BECC 2019-2020 Art Jazzerine Ducut

Letter from the Culture Chair Magandang gabi po sa inyong lahat. Good evening everyone and welcome to Barkada’s 30th Annual Pilipinx-American Cultural Night! This journey to PACN wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work from everyone involved. I am extremely blessed to have worked with such an amazing group of people who have not only provided their time and effort, but also endless support. Despite the turn of events, I’m thankful for those who have stuck by our side in these difficult times. This may not have been the PACN we expected to put on, but that doesn’t stop us from moving forward and ultimately doing this for the culture. There may have been a pause in the world, but that doesn’t mean that culture stops there. With that being said, I am proud to present this year’s PACN, Kailangan Kita. Kailangan Kita translates to I Need You and is inspired by the topic of mental health in the Pilipinx community; it has always been a delicate subject, usually being brushed over, downplayed or ignored. The story follows Valerie, a third year university student, as she comes to terms with the shifts and changes that come with the reality of facing the future. Valerie is just like you and me. She works hard in everything she puts her mind to, but beneath the surface she is burdened with her inner thoughts, her doubts, fears, and regrets. This story is a tribute to those who struggle with mental health, to those who choose to hide behind the facade of a smile, and to those who keep trying to tell themselves it’s okay. It’s my message to you, that everything will be okay. Kailangan Kita translates to I Need You, and the “You,” in any case, is what keeps you going. I want to thank the “Yous” in my life and who made PACN possible. I want to thank everyone involved, Committee Heads, Dance Coordinators, Acting Directors, and Cast and Crew--this night would not have been possible without all of you. I especially want to thank my Co, this year’s BEC, Jazzerine. Thank you for sticking by my side, not just PACN, but in everything we’ve done this year. I wouldn’t have wanted to lead such a production with anyone else. Thank you for listening to what I have to say, for keeping me sane, for always supporting me, and getting me out of my comfort zone. Even though our term is approaching its end, that doesn’t mean it’s the end of this duo because this duo is a forever thing. Thank you to Bougi-E Board for the endless support throughout everything, especially in this season. I’m so thankful to share this milestone with all of you. Through the ups and downs we’ve faced this year, we have always come back stronger. You all have kept me going this year. Thank you to my parents, for being supportive and understanding throughout my whole life in everything I’ve done. No matter how busy or how old I get, I know I’m always going to need you two. Thank you to Wholesome Line, from my adings to my grands to my great grand(s)--thank you for always putting a smile on my face and making my lonely only-child self not so lonely. Thank you to my best friends Sam, Isabelle, and Vincent, the rest of Gucci Dolce (Kelvin, Ate Kayla, Geoffrey, honorable mention Danison), Benny’s (Kayla, Alyssa, Leika, Kaila, and Roleen), Manong Matt, and my day ones from church (Lauren, Jeremiah, Kuya Ralph, Vanessa, and Ate Paulyn). Even though we’re all focused on our own hustle, thank you for the constant love and support. Most of all, thank you to the faith that has kept me going, even when it felt like I was hanging by a thread. I would most definitely not be here if it weren’t for my faith. Alexa Grace Anselment Ordonez

ACT TWO

Leading Roles VALERIE-JOY ENRIQUEZ played by Chloe Abenoja

Valerie is an idealistic and imaginative person. She’s free-spirited, a bit of a ditz at times, but not stupid. She is naive and known to be a softie, but she’s stronger than she looks. She often gets stuck in her head, but she has her best friends to bring her back down to earth. Coming back from a summer of hardship, she’s entering her third year of college and already struggling to keep up with her academics, personal life, and her relationships.

VINCENT “TITO VINCE” ENRIQUEZ played by Drake Du Fan

Vincent Enriquez is Valerie’s dad. He is a man of a few words with an off-beat sense of humor. He seems pretty passive, but can be assertive when needed. He is logical and level-headed and tries to understand Valerie and bring her back down to Earth, but “daughters/girls” are complicated.

VINCENT-JOHN “KUYA VJ” ENRIQUEZ played by Robert Christopher Renzo Baraan Aceret

Kuya VJ is Val’s older brother. He is usually the one who says it like it is. He has a soft spot for his little sister, but often doesn’t show it. During their parents’ divorce, he wasn’t around much since he focused on doing his own thing, so when Val needed her Kuya the most, he wasn’t there for her. He tries to be a protective older brother but can only show so much because he hates being vulnerable.

Traditionalist

The Tradistionalist Suite is known for it’s Epic stories that are told within its dances. As an Epic, many stories are told, from creation stories, to rituals that exemplify animals.

18

BLIT BLAAN A courtship dance of the Bilaan of Davao del Sur imitating birds during mating season. The females scurry to safety, burying their heads under their wings (the malong), but the aggressive males follow them wherever they go.

This is a ritual dance, imitating the movements of a hen, her banog (baby chicks), and a hawk. The hawk is sacred and believes that it has the power over the well being of the tribe. The hawk tries to capture one of the baby chicks and is caught by the hu. Passing tribesmen intervene intervene and the hunter becomes the hunted as the hawk is slain.

BINAYLAN BANOG

PASIGIN

Pasigin is about a fisherman trying to catch bangus, shrimps and sugpo with the use of a sibot (fish net), not knowing it has big hole in it. This gives him a difficult time because the fish keeps slipping out of the net. The movements of the girls imitate those of the bangus, shrimps and sugpo, and the boys mimic the fishermen.

PANDANGGO SA ILAW

Pandanggo sa Ilaw, which translates as Dance of Lights, is a waltz-style, playful folk dance that showcases a unique fusion of local and western indigenous dance forms. Originating in Lubang Island, Mindoro in the Philippines, it is usually performed during festivities and special occasions.

TINIKLING Tinikling is a traditional Philippine folk dance which

originated during the Spanish colonial era. The dance involves two people beating, tapping, and sliding bamboo poles on the ground and against each other in coordination with one or more dancers who step over and in between the poles in a dance. It is one of the most recognized and well-known dance in the Philippines.

Rural

The dances of the Rural Suite depict the way of life in the Christianized lowlands throughout the Philippines, and are the most well-known and loved of all traditional Philippine dances. These dances are usually performed during the town fiestas or after a good harvest. Typical attire in the Rural Suite include the colorful balintawak and patadyong skirts for the women, and camisa de chino and colored trousers for the men.

21

Kordilyera The Kordilyera Suite comes from the Cordillera (Mountain) Region of the Philippines, located in northern Luzon. The dances selected for this suite are heavily influenced by the traditional dances performed by the indigenous people within the Cordillera Region. The music within the Kordilyera Suite are played on percussion instruments, including the gangsa.

22

TAKILING

Takiling is a celebratory dance from Kalinga, a province in the northernmost area of the Kordilyera region. Due to the warrior heritage of the Kalinga, Takiling is a victory dance that represented successful head-taking, during a hunt or done to avenge the death or evil done to a family member or relative. Mingols (warriors) were honored by the females with gifts of lawi feather, bongon (beads), and colorful bahags. Mingols danced with closed fists while the unsuccessful mingols were demoted to playing the gongs.

DINUYYA

Dinuyya is a festive dance from Lagawe, Ifugao. The dance is performed by men and women in social gatherings and other festivities celebrating important events like the caĂąao (a socio-religious ritual where chickens, pigs and/or carabaos are butchered as a sacrifice and feasted on), thanksgiving, or a wedding amongst commoners.

23

VINTA

"Vinta" refers to the boat; Royal figures balance atop the bamboo poles, which portray the movement of the vinta across the Sulu Sea. Here, dancers from the sea dwellers of Mindanao, known as the Badjaos, balance on top of bamboo poles carried my men, displaying skill and the beauty of the vinta sail.

Sagayan is a dramatic war dance performed by the Maguindanao and Maranao tibes in the Mindanao region of the Philippines. The dance depicts the legendary hero, Prince Bantugan, as he fights off foreign invaders and wards off evil spirits. When Sagayan is performed, the dancers will often leap, jump, kick and roll as if fighting an enemy. The dancers will move as if in a trance, as this is believed to repel evil spirits. The dancers wear colorful, three-tiered skirts, an elaborate headdress, and will brandish a shield called a "klung" and a double-bladed sword called a "kampilan," all of which are decorated with colorful beads and shells that make noise as the peformers move. Sagayan is a dance that exudes strength, honor, and dignity. It is performed in celebration of special events such as weddings or in honor of nobility and royalty.

SAGAYAN

24

Mindanao

The Mindanao Suite is known for having overlying tones of mysticism, royalty, and beauty, representing the Muslim culture in the Philippines. Many of these dances tell elaborate stories of royalty and their interaction with nature.

25

Maria Clara

The suite, Maria Clara, developed shortly after the Spanish regime with Spanish and European dances adopted by the Phillipines as their own, adding native flair and style. The name "Maria Clara" came from the main characrer in Jose Rizal's novel describing Filipino life under spanish rule. She was seen as a Filipina woman of virtue, nobilitiy, and grace. Female dancers often wear Maria Clara dresses while male dancers wear barongs.

26

LA JOTA MONCADENA La Jota Moncadena was an adaptation from an old Spanish dance. It encompasses both Spanish and Ilocano dance steps while Spanish music and castanets play in the background. Adding on, La Jota is known for its interpretation of the Aragonese Jota dance. La Jota is called differently by the people of Moncadena and Tarlac with the name being La Jota Florana. This dance is typically performed during celebration, but a dignified version of this dance is performed during funerals.

Pantomina is a dance originating from the region of Bicol. The word Pantomina is Spanish for pantomime, which resembles movements of copying the courting and lovemaking gestures of a dove, hence it's sometimes known as the "dance of the doves".Pantomina is typically performed during weddings. During the Spanish Colonization, the dance was known as Salampati.

PANTOMINA 27

Eskrima

Eskrima, also known as Arnis or Kali, is the national sport and martial art of the Phillppines. The martial art involves fighting with sticks, knives, bladed weapons, and even unarmed combat. The art evolved during the Spanish occupation, as technique was passed down in secret, and often disguised as dances.

28

Manila Swing

Swing dancing began within the African American community between the 1920s 1930s and spread beyond in different variations and styles afterwards. Following a fun and upbeat tempo, each style has its own distinct steps. Hallmarks of the dance remain improvisation and free spiritedness which is why swing dancing is still a popular form of social dancing. The variation of swing dance showcased tonight is Manila Swing, a branch of swing that was developed in the Philippines, incorporated with East Coast style stunts.

29

Modern

The modern suite is known to be a vehicle of expression for current and contemporary themes. This set focuses on its members in hopes they unite and support through dance and most importantly one another.

OUR FAVORITE MEMORIES FROM PACN SEASON My favorite memory this PACN season has to be being able to experience this season as a coordinator for the first time. It may have been cut short, but being able to do PACN from a different viewpoint was eye-opening. Having done 2 PACNs in the past, being able to spread the culture as a coordinator this time has a different feel from learning about it and showcasing it on stage. To the RURAL SUITE, thank you for being patient with me, Albert, and Kris! We appreciate the time and effort that you all put into learning Pasigin and Pandanggo sa Ilaw. We hope you take to heart everything that you learned from the practices and never forget it! To BIG HERO STICKS, thank you for the amount of hard work you put into Tinik! It’s amazing to have been able see how much you all improved since the beginning of Tinik workshops. Being able to see you run through the entire choreo just once was enough for us to believe that you would’ve killed it on stage. We have said this multiple times before, but we can never express enough how proud we are of you all! Kyle Camba Balmonte

I think my favorite memory was watching all the members audition for acting. From working with them during acting workshops to watching how much they grew was really admirable.

My favorite memory from PACN season was probably the PACN reveal. Before PACN season even started, I kept telling my ate “oh yeah sure I’ll audition for a role” especially since it would be her last PACN since she’s graduating, but as soon as the auditions came around I remember contemplating if I should even go because I was so scared and nervous since I had never done anything like this before. I remember getting to the classroom where they were holding auditions and I was extremely nervous but told myself to go in and to just do my best and whatever happens happens. Flash forward to PACN reveal and I remember the board going through the slide show and they had passed all of the supporting roles and I knew that there were only two female lead roles so I said to myself “oh well I guess I didn’t get a role but that’s okay at least I tried.” So when they called my name for Valerie I was honestly so shocked and just felt so excited for what was to come. When practices started, I would get my schedule for the week and although it was Monday-Thursday and for about 4-5 hours each day, including the dances I was doing, it didn’t matter because it was always a lot of fun. I would get home late everyday and stay up even later to do homework but I knew all the hard work and practice would be worth it in the end. I wasn’t active my first year in Barkada and so now that I am slowly getting more involved, I have already met so many amazing people and have started to hangout with everyone a lot more. It makes me wish that I had been more active my first year but it’s all being made up for now. My roommates are also in the play and it’s so much fun for the three of us to all be apart of something together. With how much fun I’ve already been having and all the great memories I’ve made this year, it only makes me want to be more active again next year.

Tori Carlos

This one Tuesday night, since I had class during the practices for the dances I was in, I had to learn like 18 eight counts total for two of the dances I was in. Then, after that I had more practice and learned another like 7! It was super exhausting but super fun:) Since I lived on campus, when I would go to late night Centre Point with some of the first years after! Seeing my adings join more dances and become more active and find their friend groups as the season went on:) Ryan Fredric Peji

Chloe Abenoja

My favorite memory in PACN is getting to work with all the actors this year as an Acting Director. Getting to see all the actors and actresses grow from workshops to practices was amazing. My favorite exercise was when we would do improv and seeing everyone’s creative and funny mindsets come to life was a blast to see. Some of my favorite moments in the play were the jungle cruise scenes and poggers. Shoutout to my actor mentee Paul, you were phenomenal as Jed. Justin Gabriel Angeles

Seeing people learn Modern throughout the season. Even though our pieces were a little challenging, y'all kept giving us your best and I appreciated that.

Experiencing the first full run through of Eskrima's choreo and we were all like :000 that was extra s p i c e y with some paprika and habanero sauce.

Erickson Galero

Meeting my P-Notes babies

my favorite memory from pacn szn is being chosen to be the prince for vinta! I honestly was hesitant about auditioning for lead for any of my dances and it’s crazy that I got lead for the dance I really enjoy!!! also getting allyra as my vinta princess was another favorite memory ily allyra <3 Sir Tyler De Jesus

I think the moments that’ll make me cry in nostalgia when I think of PACN is when the coordinators from each of the dances/officers, form a circle with everyone. I get to interact with everyone in that circle, learn about the culture through the assignments and/or questions, and etc. I think that PACN is the best because of the people I experience each moment with; that is why the cold that we felt out at the CLA, food from the food runs, the chatter in the background, and all the other small pieces that make up the memories seem to spark when I think of the moments when each dance creates their circle, or when PACN practices open and close within a circle. So many memories, but my favorites have to be working on programs and historian committee with my co, Patricia <3 Other than that Swing with Mavie and Eskrima with my Ateh Alex coordinating, she did amazing!!! All the coordinators did amazing! Kyle Libramonte

My favorite memory was showcase and maria clara practice bc although i wasn’t able to make it to some events, seeing a mini run through of what our pacn would have looked like was fun. you could already see the joy and excitement in people’s faces as they were about to perform a snippet of the dance/ scene they were in. seeing the energy others had while cheering their friends on was something i was looking forward to for pacn. plus during mc practice everyone was working together easily and everyone had a fun time doing so :p Micah Winzelle Mercado

Being apart of the Maria Clara Suite and s/o to my partners Kyle & Justin for being dopeeee!! And special shout out to my ading Leanna for killing it and being the best coordinator out there so proud<3 Alexandra Principe

Being a part of a team, whether it was acting, Tinik, Swing, Maria Clara, etc. It felt like family and to be able to engage in my heritage with the people I love is something I’ll always cherish. CJ Banawa

Finding out I made the Tinik Team :) Marlon Aquino

My favorite memory from PACN season was being a dance coordinator for swing and modern. Seeing how many members joined both dances and were so excited for them each and every practice made me feel so incredibly happy and appreciated. Watching my dance babies improve every practice was also so rewarding and will forever be an experience I will cherish having. SHOUTOUT TO MY SWING CO-COORD ADRIAN AND MY MODERN CO-COORDS ANDREW, ALEXIS, AND ERICKSON I LOVE Y’ALL <3 Allyra Liquigan

Honestly, I’ve enjoyed every second with the tinik team. From our team reveal, partner reveal, learning choreography, messing it up, messing with coordinators and creating a bond. I miss and love you all Big Hero Sticks <3 Ethan Francisco

Being able to spend time w my fam! I got so busy w work and school I was so happy I got to see them and dance w them! Megan Liliagin Amara

My favorite memory is seeing the actors, dancers, and coordinators improve as the season progressed. To me, it’s a blessing to be a part of and even witness everyone’s progress and self discovery, and to celebrate their successes with them. this is my favorite memory of this year’s PACN szn. Nathan Maulino

being able to coordinate Maria Clara with JP!:-) even if it was only for a little bit. it was my first year as a coordinator so i was able to learn a lot from it.

Genshel Naguiat

My favorite memory of pacn is falling in love with my swing and pandanggo sa ilaw partner if I’m bein rl honest ~it’s gross and gushy I know lol~ but if we’re putting in the yearbook. my favorite memory after that is any chance I had to teach my kordilyera bb’s and being an acting director for the actors especially my amazing mentee Andrea Mae Cunanan. Jya Bagnol

One of my favorite memories from PACN szn is showcase because I got to see it all start to come together and see pretty much the entirety of PACN cast and crew come together and it warmed my heart sooooooo much. One of my other favorite memories was collaborating with the acting directors, Adrian, and Robert for certain scenes because they always made it a fun time and helped me turn my poopoo peepee thoughts into something hehe. Another favorite memory was when Jazzerine and I were thinking of names for PACN in tagalog and I said Edi Wala and I probably also said Nakaka (something) and Jazzerine probably got a nakaka nosebleed from my broken tagalog. Alexa Grace Ordonez

meeting my swing partner joshua aaron caprisun regal! he hit me in the head too many times :( also spending more time w my roomies and making more friends <3

When the tinik team would show nothing but love and support whenever someone would struggle with choreography Ma Vien Dizon

Darrel Varquez

My favorite memory is just overall seeing my tinik team every time we meet for practice. The best part of our practices is how hype everyone gets when we do a formation really well. The energy is seriously incredible and I love them so much (:

Leanna Gan

Kyla Geraldo

doing my eskrima choreo and killing kyle

Seeing our tinik team perform at showcase c: OR Seeing our tinik team go through their entire choreo for the first time OR Showcase when the entire cast and crew finally came out together for the first time OR Seeing our cast and crew slowly grow from really small to really big OR When Pasigin went through their entire choreo for the first time. i’m sorry i couldnt pick one Albert Andres

My favorite memory was coordinating the Maria Clara suite with Leanna. I had a great time from being chosen to coordinate all the way to actually teaching the choreography. Also, being apart of PACN XXX Board with Patricia HAHAHHAHAH.

My favorite memory from PACN season would just be getting to meet so many new people and making new friends such as my swing partner KYLA NINI GHIRARDELLI, even though she kinda gave me a sprained thumb one time. I only joined Barkada this semester so I didn’t really know anyone and it was through PACN practices that I was able to talk to a lot of new people and form so many new friendships. I am just so glad I decided to involve myself in PACN and participate in all these dances because of all the people I was able to meet.

As a coordinator for the Traditionalist Suite, my favorite memory was when our choreography for Binaylan Banog came together. After multiple weeks passing by, it was our first time seeing all our dancers coming together. The excitement and happiness just took over me because even though it was the first time, it was coming all together and I could see that our dancers were really into it and having fun. H I S TO R I A N Hello everyone, this is the end of the program and you’re probably wondering why this is here. Welcome to the PACN annual historian corner! Thank you to everyone who participated in our PACN XXX Kailangan Kita! I enjoyed every second getting to know all of you during the cold nights at the CLA and during the day at the API. It is unfortunate that the season abruptly came to a stop for a while, but through everyone’s efforts, love for this club, and passion for the Filipinx-American culture, PACN is here to stay! Without all of you, this program would not have been possible. To my Bougi-E Board, there are no other people I would have gone through this year with. It was one of the most hectic years of Barkada in terms of events, but you all made the sweat and sleepless nights undeniably worthwhile. During my hardest times this year, all of you have been one of my biggest support systems, and I am here to support each and every one of you without hesitation. Thank you for making my second year of college unforgettable, Bougi-E Board. To Alexa, Jazzerine, and PACN board, thank you for dedicating your time and efforts towards working behind the scenes of celebrating our culture. I commend all of you for being resilient, willing, and adaptable during these difficult times. Despite not having the traditional platform to showcase PACN, that did not stop you from putting on a celebration of the Filipinx-American culture for everyone. Congratulations to your hard work and achievements this PACN season! They do not go unnoticed. To my historian committee heads, Kyle and Patricia, wow. When I first appointed you both I honestly didn’t know what to expect. This whole PACN season, you both never failed to impress me. Kyle and Patricia, you have combined your passions for creating and your passions for your culture. I hope you both continue to push yourselves and I can’t wait to see each of you grow. I’m always here to support you both! To my parents and family, thank you for being so supportive and accepting of the time and effort I put into Barkada. On top of my school learning, this club has given me a support system of friends and mentors and has taught me lessons I cannot find in a classroom. I hope to continue to share with you what I have learned and how much Barkada means to me. I love you! To my adings Marlon and Kaitlin, congrats on your first PACN! I am so proud of you both for earning your spots on the tinikling team. I hope you learned more about your culture, made new friends, and most importantly, had fun! To my first two adings and my new ading Jeri, I love seeing all of you coming out to events or even just being down to spend time with me and our line. It makes me happy to see you guys make your mark in the club and see you three grow as individuals. I will always be here for you, adings. To my ate Leika, thank you for everything you have done for me! You have been such a positive influence on me, even if you do not see it For one, you are one of the biggest #ReasonsWhyIDoPACN. Thank you again. I miss you and I love you. To Allyra, my best friend and my egg, thank you for lending me a hand during that one runthrough during my first PACN. To the Bougi-E babies, I hope you all use this club as an opportunity to do things you could have never imagined. Barkada can be the light during the darkest times, whether it be through attending meetings and socials, participating in KAA and intramurals, joining I-board and committees, or just simply loitering with others. It is ok to look back, but the most important thing is keep moving forward. I am more than blessed to have been able to capture all of it! Nathan Gregory Resuello-Maulino

CO R N E R Hello everyone! Before I begin, I would like to thank you for allowing me to be your PACN Programs Committee Head for this school year. I am super lucky to be working with a talented, strong group of people. Even though I was not able to participate in any dances this school year, I am grateful for still being able to help in a way I enjoy! I do apologize for the lack of photos in some parts of the yearbook. Due to COVID-19, everything ended abruptly causing there to be no photoshoots. As an alternative, I resorted to the pictures we had from PACN Showcase. I hope your fellow cast and crew’s favorite memories make up for the missing photos. Though we were all put in a tough situation because of COVID-19, it was inspiring to see everyone come together and overcome it. Thank you Nathan, Jazzerine, and Alexa for choosing me to be the Programs committee head for this school year. I would like to say a big thank you to my committee co, Kyle Libramonte. I am for sure going to miss our late night sessions working on our projects for PACN. (I honestly already do.) I truly am blessed for being able to work closely with you! I would also like to thank my family, my friends, my ading Micah plus the rest of Glenline, and my #1 JP for always being there for me. <3 I hope you all enjoyed this yearbook as much as I enjoyed creating it! Patricia Anne Babia

To everyone that put out their heart and soul into every single moment we’ve had together during this experience, thank you. It was an honor being your PACN XXX Historian Committee head because it allowed me to see each and everyone one of you in a different perspective. Some of you who were shy came out of your shell and I could see the genuine happiness from all your laughter and smiles. Seeing you all work hard during practices and spending the extra hours just to get a little bit better for the next rehearsal made me so happy because the passion was very present during and throughout this entire experience. I am grateful to have been able to capture all the moments, film an amazing commercial with an amazing team, and continuously be there with you all during that “5 til we’re done” block. Remember that even in the conditions we’re in, we still pushed to make this happen because nothing can stop the culture and we always have to keep moving forward. I’d like to give a special shoutout to Patricia for being there by my side in making the program, brainstorming, and the late nights so that we could finish a program so that all the cast and crew members could reminisce. I hope you all had an exceeding amount of fun during this program while we still could and I thank everyone for all their hard work and efforts. Love y’all, and remember to always smile! Sincerely, Kyle Libramonte
