Sophos flaunts new endpoint security offering
Harish Chib, Sophos
Sophos is placing the spotlight on its ‘synchronised security’ strategy, which entails as part of its participation at this year’s GITEX Technology Week.
According to the company, synchronised security automates incident response via instant sharing of threat, security, and health information between endpoint and network. It eliminates the manual work of trying to figure out who, what and when a compromise happened. The company noted that the strategy is focused on securing both endpoints and networks. In line with this, the company is showcasing its extensive portfolio of nextgen endpoint, network and encryption security solutions during the show.
Harish Chib, Vice President, Middle East and Africa, Sophos, said, “We are the first security vendor to deliver synchronised security, directly linking nextgeneration endpoint security and next-generation firewall to share threat intelligence that enables faster detection of threats, automatic isolation of infected devices, and more immediate and targeted response and resolution.” Synchronised security, according to Sophos, automates incident response via instant sharing 4 CONTINUED ON PAGE 5 of threat,

Netscout... We now have a broader range of products and technologies to offer to the market,” said Abhishek Hajra, Regional Director, Netscout. He says Netscout is bullish about the opportunities in the regional market. “We call this a high growth market because this region has already emerged. In the Middle East, there is an increasing focus on smart connectivit y and we call ourselves guardians of the connected world. With the emergence of IOT, the net work has become the most import ant piece of infrastructure. We are in a

the time needed to find the root cause of network and application performance issues.” Netscout has recently launched a completely revamped partner programme called Connect 360, bringing
together all the separate channel programmes across its enterprise network product lines. “This programme is key to driving our vision, helping us to scale our businesss and address customer demands,” says Hajra.
Eaton highlights power management solutions
Karim Refas, Eaton
Eaton is showcasing its power management solutions and specifically its unique software integration capabilities with alliance partners that include Cisco, VMware or EMC and on how companies can
leverage the latest IT infrastructure management solutions to ensure their business continuity at GITEX this year. Karim Refas, Regional Channel Manager, Eaton, says, “GITEX gives us the opportunity to connect to new customers, form new alliances with partners and share knowledge on the latest trends in the market. The event is important to raise brand visibility and it gives us the ability to be better prepared for future trends in the industry. GITEX is also crucial for Eaton to showcase our cutting-edge technology and demonstrate how we are at the forefront of industry innovation with customers and channel partners across the region.” According to Refas, data centre and operations managers can
use the company’s latest software solutions to manage their power devices similarly to how they manage their IT devices in a software-defined data centre. For example Eaton IPM is the industry-first to integrate with the VMware vRealize Operations platform as well as with the OpenStack cloud orchestrator, to view and manage power and equipment, such as uninterruptible power systems (UPSs) and power distribution units (PDUs), reducing time and saving money by providing end users with rich analytics for power capacity planning and workload placement, said the company. “Data centre managers can now take advantage of predictive analytics capabilities and smart
alerts to assess the need for any preventative maintenance or repair services on their power infrastructure as well.” Today the trend that the company observes is that everything is moving towards more converged and hyper-converged infrastructures and a software-defined data centre. “Auto adaptive Intelligent Power architecture, will be key to ensure improved continuity and resiliency for the entire business. Software integration should not be simply about creating a lot of data, but have the intelligence to manage its dependence on power. Eaton is leading the development of innovative solutions to bridge the gap between the physical and the virtual infrastructure,” he adds.
NEC Payments launches core solutions
Andrew Sims, NEC Payments
NEC Payments is participating at GITEX 2016 with Microsoft and will be launching a “groundbreaking” way of deploying its core processing technologies
using the Microsoft Azure public cloud. NEC Payments is present as a Microsoft Independent Software Vendor and Cloud partner at the Microsoft Stand B7-10 in Hall 7. Andrew Sims, Director and CEO, NEC Payments, says, “In the Middle East and African market there is a strong requirement for financial inclusion in order to promote social development, create digital economies, and reduce the usage of cash in the market. Through GITEX, we will generate awareness of our products and services that have been designed to support
this growing demand amongst our target audience of banks/ FIs, merchants, and distribution business partners. In particular, the secure deployment of our processing applications on the Microsoft Azure cloud provide a platform for fast-deployment, scalability and redundancy that has so far not been an available option in the market.” At this year’s show the company will be launching its PCI-DSS compliant and MasterCard certified core transaction processing platform on the Microsoft Azure Cloud with Microsoft.
“The move towards financial inclusion in the region, driven by digital ecosystems, will enable the next generation of entrepreneurs to start digitally-enabled businesses and use electronic payments to broaden the geographical reach of their products and services. This will result in more domestic and interregional trade that will stimulate economic growth and simultaneously increase the demand for high-quality products and services from the regional ICT industry,” he adds.

Chib then highlighted the growing concern from the industry about the increasing cases of ransomware attacks. “To help customers address this challenge, we have introduced a next-generation endpoint security product that can help fend off zero-day malware and unknown exploit variants – Intercept X.” Intercept X has an antiransomware feature that can detect previously unknown
ransomware within seconds. It installs alongside existing endpoint security software from any vendor, immediately boosting endpoint protection by stopping malicious code before it executes. Speaking about GITEX, Chib noted that the event present numerous opportunities as it brings together MEA’s top ICT thought leaders on a single platform while becoming a launch pad for lucrative ICT partnerships, exciting deals and new innovations for MEA businesses. “Sophos has been participating at GITEX as a leading security vendor for MEA and we have shared extensive thought-leadership with this platform,” said Chib. “The event,

potential customers and partners and share Sophos’ managed security solutions with them. “It is also opens up new avenues for us to strengthen our channel network further by meeting and appointing new results-oriented partners in countries where we would like to increase our market share and reach.”
