A WORD FROM OUR CHAIRMAN Good afternoon and welcome to Coed Gwilym Park for today’s Ardal Southern league fixture against Pure Swansea. Welcome to them.

It was nice for us to get back to winning ways last week with what was a superb performance and victory over Cardiff Airport. On the pitch I have no doubt that the win against Airport and the encouraging performance against Pontardawe a few weeks prior has given Damo and the boys the confidence to believe in themselves. With 10 games to go we are in a much healthier place than this time last year. We must remember to see the big picture and not forget about the progress and upward trajectory we are on as a club.

We look forward to a few more fundraising events coming over the next few months so look out on our social media platforms for details. Later this evening I hope to see many of you at the Race Night. It would be wonderful to see as many people there as possible. It’s a great chance to get together and raise some funds for the club.

It just leaves me to say good luck to all our sides in 2026 but specifically our first team who fly the flag at the third tier of Welsh Football, something we can easily forget. Enjoy the ride, I’m sure there’ll be bumps in the road, but know we got the players, coaches and supporters to do something special this year across all our age groups.

A BRIEF HISTORY

Clwb Pêl-droed Clydach Football Club was established in 2021 through the merger of two long-standing Clydach clubs – FC Clydach and Clydach Cricket Football Club. While previously successful, both clubs realised that there would be much to be gained from uniting and pooling resources. Through forming one club, the village of Clydach and the surrounding area now has a club that provides opportunities for teams from the age of 5 through to senior teams, for boys and girls. In our first season, the club secured Platinum FAW Club Accreditation which we have maintained since and experienced a great deal of success at junior and senior levels, including the promotion of our men’s first team to the West Wales Premier League and winning the 2021-22 Premier Division Cup in just our first season. Through the hard work of over coaches, officers and volunteers, the club has continued to make 60 progress both on and off the field. The minis and junior section has over 350 members including over 110 girls. We have over 50 youth team players registered and just short of 100 registered senior players. In 2023-2024, our 1st Team gained promotion to the Ardal Southern Leagues and will again play in the South West section in We will also have two Senior Ladies team competing in .2025-2026 season. We are also a provider of the FAW Huddle 2025-2026 Programme to encourage girls into football

LYDACH FC DELIVERED A STATEMENT PERFORMANCE UNDER THE JENNER PARK FLOODLIGHTS ON FRIDAY EVENING, SWEEPING ASIDE CARDIFF AIRPORT WITH A DISPLAY OF CONTROL, INTENSITY, AND CLINICAL FINISHING. THE VISITORS SET THE TONE FROM THE OPENING WHISTLE AND WERE REWARDED INSIDE NINE MINUTES. A LOOSE CARDIFF AIRPORT PASS WAS SEIZED UPON BY CALLUM LEWORTHY, WHO REACTED QUICKEST TO STRIDE FORWARD AND FIRE CONFIDENTLY INTO THE BOTTOM CORNER. CLYDACH’S EARLY PRESSURE DIDN’T RELENT, AND BY THE 15‑MINUTE MARK THE LEAD HAD DOUBLED. NATHAN JONES PICKED UP POSSESSION IN SPACE AND UNLEASHED A SUPERB STRIKE FROM DISTANCE, LEAVING THE GOALKEEPER ROOTED AS IT FLEW INTO THE TOP CORNER. THE THIRD ARRIVED BEFORE THE HOSTS COULD SETTLE. BEN SCANNELL ROLLED HIS DEFENDER SMARTLY IN THE BOX AND, WITH THE GOAL OPENING UP, VOLLEYED HOME FROM CLOSE RANGE TO CAP OFF A FLOWING CLYDACH MOVE. CARDIFF AIRPORT’S EVENING WORSENED FIVE MINUTES BEFORE THE INTERVAL WHEN THEY WERE REDUCED TO TEN MEN, LEAVING THEM WITH A MOUNTAIN TO CLIMB. AFTER THE BREAK, CLYDACH SHOWED NO INTENTION OF EASING OFF. THEIR CONTROL OF THE BALL AND TEMPO CONTINUED, AND THE FOURTH GOAL ARRIVED COURTESY OF CALLUM HOWARD, WHO STRUCK CLEANLY FROM THE EDGE OF THE AREA AFTER SUSTAINED PRESSURE AROUND THE BOX. THE VISITORS ROUNDED OFF A COMMANDING AWAY PERFORMANCE WITH A FIFTH LATE ON. SCANNELL, ALREADY INFLUENTIAL, TURNED PROVIDER WITH NEAT WORK DOWN THE FLANK BEFORE PICKING OUT ARWEL REES, WHO GUIDED A FIRST‑TIME FINISH INTO THE NET TO COMPLETE THE SCORING. FROM FIRST WHISTLE TO LAST, CLYDACH WERE DOMINANT—SHARP IN POSSESSION, RELENTLESS OUT OF IT, AND RUTHLESS IN FRONT OF GOAL. A FIVE‑STAR SHOWING ON THE ROAD AND A NIGHT TO SAVOUR FOR THE TRAVELLING SUPPORTERS.

MANAGER’S CORNER Hello and welcome to Coed Gwilym for this league encounter against Pure Swansea. We look forward to getting back on the pitch after a wonderful occasion against an excellent Cardiff Airport side a last week.

Last week we were clinical in both boxes and thoroughly deserved the win against a very good side. We must now continue in the same vein and ensure we push up the table.

We’ve assembled a very good squad on paper but football isn’t played on paper and we need to ensure our effort levels match our potential. If we do that then I believe there’s exciting times ahead. I honestly believe that if we can apply ourselves then we are set up as a club to really go places.

I know all areas of the club continue to grow and our mini, junior and senior sections go from strength to strength.

I’d like to thank all our volunteers, sponsors, supporters and all associated with the club for their continued support and hard work.
