A word from our chairman, Good evening and welcome to Coed Gwilym Park for today’s Elite Stands UK Ardal Southwest fixture against AFC Llwydcoed. I’d like to extend a warm welcome to their players, coaches, committee, and supporters.

We are looking forward to testing ourselves this evening against a side who have started the season extremely well picking up seven points from a possible nine. We hope the game is entertaining and enjoyable for all in attendance.

This is our fourth home game of what has been an early and busy start to the season.

A very young side were well beaten on day one against an experienced Albies side.

The squad reacted brilliantly 3 days later against Ynysygerwn with a well fought 0-0 draw. For two weeks running, we played cup games progressing in both competitions before last Saturday saw us visit one of the promotion favourites, Penrhiwceiber, getting a very well-deserved point in an entertaining 3-3 draw.

I once again would like to thank our sponsors Daley Homes and the Bay Mortgages for their continued support. T o all our volunteers, keep doing the work you do as its so important, as without you we wouldn’t be able to achieve the things we are achieving.

A brief history

Clwb Pêl-droed Clydach Football Club was established in 2021 through the merger of two long-standing Clydach clubs – FC Clydach and Clydach Cricket Football Club.

While previously successful, both clubs realised that there would be much to be gained from uniting and pooling resources. Through forming one club, the village of Clydach and the surrounding area now has a club that provides opportunities for teams from the age of 5 through to senior teams, for boys and girls.

In our first season, the club secured Platinum FAW Club Accreditation which we have maintained since and experienced a great deal of success at junior and senior levels, including the promotion of our men’s first team to the West Wales Premier League and winning the 2021-22 Premier Division Cup in just our first season.

Through the hard work of over 60 coaches, officers and volunteers, the club has continued to make progress both on and off the field.

The minis and junior section has over 350 members including over 110 girls.

We have over 50 youth team players registered and just short of 100 registered senior players.

In 2023-2024, our 1st Team gained promotion to the Ardal Southern Leagues and will again play in the South West section in 2025-2026.

We will also have two Senior Ladies team competing in 2025-2026 season.

We are also a provider of the FAW Huddle Programme to encourage girls into football.

Manager’s Corner Welcome to another season of Welsh League Football. What a season it was last year, that day in the sunshine against Champions, Cardiff Dracs. Will live long in the memory, and what an achievement it was to achieve survival against all the odds. We didn’t have time to rest up and enjoy the success though due to the fact that within a month of that game we were back in pre-season.

The start to this season has been frantic. With so many games, so early on and with such a young squad, with lots of new faces to settle in, it's been nonstop. The early games have shown that we can compete, and the lads have that same attitude that did us so well last year. After a humbling defeat on day 1, the response has been superb. I couldn’t have been prouder on Saturday of the young side that went to one of the favourites for promotion with up to 8 or 9 players unavailable and got a point.

We have to continue to take it a game at a time, be patient and enjoy the challenge.

Tonight’s game will be very tough, Llwydcoed went on a run at the back end of last season to maintain their status in the league and have continued that form this year. I’m sure it’ll be a great game.

It just leaves me to thank the supporters, especially those that travel in great numbers away, particularly ‘The Ultras’. Also, massive thanks to the volunteers and sponsors because without you we wouldn’t be where we are.
