Friday 5th April
Dear parents and carers, We have had a great week to finish the term, with lots going on and celebration end of term crew assemblies at the heart of our final week. Thank you to the Air Ambulance for supporting our Health and Social Care courses at the academy; students really relished the experience. Well done also to all students who are working hard as they move towards their exams. We are very proud of our Year 13s and Year 11s and know you can do it. You may well have seen the positive press we have been receiving regarding our maritime curriculum announcement. We are delighted to see that the story is proving interesting at both national and international level and has been reported as a model of excellent practice in the Times Educational Supplement, or TES, this week. Over the holidays, Year 11 students have revision plan to support their revision at home. There are also many interventions and revision sessions for both Year 11 and 13s in the academy across the break; please do make sure your child grabs these opportunities and is working with focus and determination. So much progress can be made by students at this point in the year. This term has been a very positive, rich and busy one for us all and such events as we’ve had over the last few weeks are great reminders of all that has been achieved by the students, through their hard work and commitment and with our great teaching and the support and dedication of their families. The summer term starts on Tuesday 23rd April at normal school time. My parent surgeries continue next term on Tuesday afternoons. Please either email dharrison@cowesec.org or phone the school on 01983 203103 asking for Donna Harrison to book a pre-booked slot. I should like to wish you all a happy holiday. With best wishes, Rachel Kitley
